Chapter 179: Alex Vs Laura
Everyone subconsciously held their breath when they saw Alex use telekinesis against Laura, their eyes staring with extreme focus to see what would happen with Laura's barrier protecting her.
After all, all of Alex's matches had ended right after he used telekinesis, regardless of how strong his opponent was.
Would the result be the same this time or was there going to be a change?
Boom!
The fireball that was shot at him crashed into the ground behind him and exploded, and at the same time, Alex used his spell and tried to grab Laura.
Dong!
Instead of grabbing Laura, what Alex grabbed with telekinesis was the entire barrier. The near-invisible golden barrier released a low buzz as if something had made contact with it. Laura, who was inside it, was unaffected and was already casting another spell.
Alex was stunned to discover this; he didn't have any knowledge about the killer's sanctuary, so this was new to him.
Meanwhile, Laura had already connected two star patterns and dashed forward; the barrier moved with her, still surrounding her from all sides.
It was as if it could predict her movements or was reading her movements.
"Fire claw!" Laura called out as she reached Alex.
A huge blazing fire claw appeared from the star patterns and fell on where Alex was standing, but he quickly reacted and moved away. His speed wasn't too impressive, but it was enough to get him out of the range of the fire claw.
BAM!
The fire claw crashed into the spot where Alex was a few moments ago before exploding into fierce flames, Laura didn't stop and immediately went after Alex.
She was in her aggressive mode!
Many people immediately had looks of worry on their faces when they saw the first exchange between the two in the arena. Especially the students from Dragonic Magic Academy.
They had previously been comparing how Alex's match against Laura would go since they knew that Laura was very powerful while Alex's element was overpowered.
But now that Laura's barrier had rendered Alex's only spell useless, it had become a horror show and they couldn't bear to watch.
"A Core mage using a killer's sanctuary barrier against an Adept mage? That's not something you see every day." Ellie said with a hint of disappointment in her voice.
"That Adept mage is a scary one and can defeat Core rank mages with his space element, even instructor Julius said he was going to give him a recommendation." The young lady who was around the same age as Ellie spoke out.
"Hmm, I don't blame his opponent for getting a magic item. That's it, I'll give this lad the recommendation if he manages to win." Julius said with a big smile as he looked at Alex expectantly.
Now that he thought about it, this kid had the same hair colour as Mr Chen. Who knows, he might be creating a second Mr Chen!
Back in the arena, Laura went after Alex after he dodged the fire claw and cast flare before exploding them.
But Alex leapt into the air, stepped on her barrier, and used her as a footing to launch himself further away from the range of the explosions.
He landed almost thirty meters away from Laura, and his expression was very calm. Laura turned to look at him. She felt irritated to see his calm face, so she dashed toward him.
Alex stared at the incoming Laura, silver white stars appeared around him again and his eyes changed colours.
He didn't want to destroy the barrier around her since it looked like something that an Adept mage shouldn't be able to destroy, however, he had another idea in mind.
Laura crossed several meters in a second as she approached Alex, her red stars chasing behind her and she was ready to cast a spell at any moment.
At this moment, Alex had already completed his star pattern and stretched his right hand to greet Laura.
"Telekinesis,"
As his voice fell, another low buzz was released by Laura's barrier as if something had crashed into it, and she came to an abrupt stop as if she had collided with something. The impact wasn't strong so she wanted to resume running, but she suddenly realised that her feet were no longer on the ground.
Yes, Alex had lifted her off the ground along with the barrier!
Everyone was surprised by this approach, including Laura. She was shocked to see herself floating a few meters above the ground with Alex still pointing at her, but she quickly calmed down; she knew that Alex could not destroy the barrier since even an Expert mage couldn't.
She then proceeded to connect her stars so that she could cast a spell.
Alex grinned wickedly when he saw this, his hand that was controlling the barrier then moved as he waved to the side with force.
Whoosh!!
Laura, along with the barrier, was flung to the side at high speed and crashed into the barrier that was around the arena with a loud bang.
Ripples spread around the barrier in the arena while Laura dropped to the ground.
Laura felt the world spinning; she wasn't hurt anywhere, but her mind was fuzzy after she crashed into the barrier. She thought that was all as she tried to regain herself but she was solely mistaken.
Her vision suddenly shifted again, and she found herself in the air the next moment. Before she could understand what was going on, her sight turned blurry again and then black as a loud bang sounded in her ears.
It went on repeat.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Many people in the stadium shuddered while some had uncomfortable expressions as they watched the scene in the arena.
They were horrified by Alex!
He was using telekinesis to slam Laura and her barrier around the arena, he slammed her into the ground or the sturdy barrier that was around the arena like a toy.
They watched as Laura was helplessly smashed all over the place without being able to do anything.
Heck! She couldn't even see properly as her vision had darkened and she was on the verge of passing out, but Alex didn't have any intentions of stopping and continued to smash her around.
Since he couldn't touch her inside her barrier, he would use her as a wrecking hammer!
At the top of that stadium.
"Goodness, the space element is a real cheat, one could do that?" The young lady remarked beside Ellie.
"Hehehe. Told you I wasn't wrong about him, he'll definitely win and get the recommendation; a student like him is very welcome in our university." Julius laughed.
In the sitting area of the Dragonic Magic Academy, teacher Arnold's face was as black as the back of a kettle, and his expression was very ugly; he looked like someone had fed him shit in his dreams.
Veins popped up on his neck as his fingers clenched tingly when he saw how Alex was tossing Laura all over the place like a broken toy.
Every "bang" made his body vibrate with anger. Laura was his best student, even if she left the academy, she was still his best student; how dare Alex treat her like this?!
He wanted to punch Alex in the face so bad.
