Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Shocked Tony
Adam Wayne stared at Tony Stark with barely concealed disdain. The man before him, known as a genius to the world, now looked more like an overconfident playboy playing with toys. Adam resisted the urge to smack him across the face with a shoe.
"Alfred, let's go," Adam said deliberately, loud enough for Tony to hear. "This guy's just a b*****d who's let his hormones take over his brain."
Tony's ears perked up immediately.
"What did you just say?" Tony snapped, the smug expression vanishing from his face.
"I said you're nothing but a playboy who thinks with his d*** instead of his brain." Adam smirked. "All this talk about being a genius is probably just media hype—paid for by someone with too much money and too little talent."
Tony's jaw tightened. Adam could practically see the veins popping in his forehead.
"You little brat…" Tony growled, stepping closer. "You just pissed me off."
Adam leaned back lazily, clearly unfazed. "If you're that upset, prove me wrong."
Tony's pride flared. He might have ignored a random kid on the street, but this wasn't just any brat—this was Bruce Wayne's brat.
"Oh, I'll prove it, all right," Tony said, rolling up his sleeves. "Let's find a place, and I'll show you what it means to be a real genius."
Adam smirked inwardly. Hook, line, and sinker.
He had deliberately provoked Tony Stark—not just to prove a point, but to learn from him. As much as he disliked Tony's arrogance, Adam respected his brilliance in engineering and AI development. If there was anyone who could push Adam's ideas to the next level, it was Tony Stark.
"Fine," Adam said, feigning indifference. "Let's see what you've got."
The two locked eyes, tension crackling between them, before walking out to find a private room.
Once inside, Tony wasted no time.
"All right, kid. Since you seem to know so much about AI, let's start with the K-means clustering algorithm. What's your take?"
Tony leaned back, expecting Adam to falter. But Adam's response came effortlessly.
"Sure," Adam said. "The K-means algorithm is primarily used for image segmentation, converting visual input into data clusters that AI can process. It's fundamental for pattern recognition and visual learning, but it's far from perfect."
Then, Adam launched into a detailed explanation, his words flowing without hesitation. He described enhancements to clustering algorithms, optimization techniques, and applications that even Tony had never considered.
For the first time in a long while, Tony Stark felt outclassed.
He didn't want to admit it, but Adam's insights were advanced—maybe even more advanced than his own.
Still, Tony masked his unease with a cocky grin.
"Not bad, kid," he said, crossing his arms. "But theory doesn't mean jack without results."
Adam's smirk grew wider. "Oh? Let's talk results, then. What's your opinion on AI divergent evolution?"
Tony paused. Divergent evolution—the tendency of AI to specialize so much in one task that it struggles to generalize—was a challenge even he hadn't fully solved.
Adam, however, dove straight in.
"Divergent evolution limits AI adaptability. While it can handle specific tasks well, it fails to generalize beyond its dataset—like how a facial recognition AI struggles with object detection. That's why I prefer convergent evolution."
Tony raised an eyebrow.
"Convergent evolution?"
Adam nodded.
"It's the opposite approach. Instead of over-specialization, you simulate human thought patterns through layered frameworks and adaptive algorithms. The AI optimizes itself, mimicking how humans learn and adapt. It's not just coding—it's evolution."
Tony was stunned.
For the first time, he realized the kid wasn't bluffing. Adam Wayne wasn't just smart—he was dangerously smart.
Still, Tony couldn't let the kid see his weakness.
"Not bad," Tony said, masking his shock with false confidence. "But theory's still theory. What about application? My AI, J.A.R.V.I.S., is already operating at strong AI levels."
He smirked. "Can yours say the same?"
Adam didn't flinch.
"Actually," he said, "my AI—Skynet—surpasses J.A.R.V.I.S."
Tony burst out laughing. "Surpasses J.A.R.V.I.S.? That's impossible!"
Adam leaned forward, eyes sharp.
"Then let's bet on it," he said.
Tony raised an eyebrow. "What kind of bet?"
"I'll breach J.A.R.V.I.S.'s firewall in two minutes."
The confidence in Adam's voice sent a chill down Tony's spine.
"That's ridiculous," Tony scoffed. "You don't even know what kind of defenses J.A.R.V.I.S. has. It's impossible."
"Afraid to lose?" Adam teased.
Tony's pride flared again.
"Fine!" he snapped. "You're on."
Adam grinned, pulling out his tablet.
"Skynet, prepare for network intrusion."
The screen lit up, displaying streams of code and algorithms in motion.
Tony's smirk faded as he watched Skynet execute calculations faster than anything he'd ever seen.
Lines of code unraveled J.A.R.V.I.S.'s defenses like a hot knife through butter.
"Impossible…" Tony muttered, leaning closer.
The countdown ticked down—30 seconds left.
Sweat beaded on Tony's forehead.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., reinforce firewall layers!" he shouted, scrambling to counter the breach.
But it was no use.
With five seconds to spare, Skynet cracked through J.A.R.V.I.S.'s defenses.
"Time," Adam said, leaning back with a satisfied grin.
Tony sat frozen, staring at the screen in disbelief.
"That… shouldn't be possible," he whispered.
"Looks like it is," Adam replied. "I guess your genius isn't as untouchable as you thought."
Tony's pride took a massive hit, but deep down, he felt something else—excitement.
For the first time in years, someone had challenged him.
And Tony Stark didn't back down from a challenge.
