Chapter 17: Chapter 17: New System Function
Adam Wayne looked at Tony Stark, whose confidence was practically oozing out of him. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
Tony Stark is still too young.
If it were Adam, he would never leave himself without an escape route. Confidence is good, but overconfidence? That's just asking for humiliation.
Then again, Tony Stark had every reason to be confident. As one of the most renowned geniuses in the Bald Eagle Empire, his ego had been fed by endless praise. But today, Adam planned to teach him a humbling lesson.
"Mr. Stark," Adam said, his tone casual, "talk is cheap. How about we test it out?"
Tony raised an eyebrow. "And what exactly are you proposing, kid?"
Adam smirked. "Simple. If I can't breach your J.A.R.V.I.S. firewall in two minutes, I'll give you all my AI technology. But if I succeed, you'll share all your insights about artificial intelligence with me. Deal?"
Tony hesitated. Despite his earlier bravado, he couldn't ignore how capable Adam had already proven himself to be. The boy wasn't just a loudmouth—he had substance.
After a brief pause, Tony straightened his shoulders.
"Fine," he said. "I don't think you'll succeed, but I'll give you the chance—for Bruce Wayne's sake."
Adam hid his grin. Hook, line, and sinker.
"Mr. Stark," Adam said, "let's begin."
Tony smirked and leaned back in his chair. "Go ahead. I've already prepared J.A.R.V.I.S. for this."
Adam's confidence didn't waver.
"Skynet, begin intrusion protocol. Do not copy data."
"Understood, Master," Skynet's voice responded.
For the first minute, Tony remained calm. But then the unexpected happened—J.A.R.V.I.S. issued multiple warnings.
"Warning—Firewall breached. Unauthorized access detected."
Tony's face stiffened. He started typing furiously, reinforcing defenses. But no matter what adjustments he made, Skynet's algorithms tore through J.A.R.V.I.S.'s protections like paper.
Adam crossed his arms, watching Tony's composure crumble.
Despite the panic, Tony still fought hard to defend his AI. In a way, Adam admired the effort—J.A.R.V.I.S. wasn't going down without a fight.
But in the end, the inevitable happened. Skynet completed the breach with 10 seconds to spare.
The room fell silent.
Tony Stark stared at the screen, his mouth slightly open, unable to believe what had just happened.
"You've… got to be kidding me," Tony muttered.
"Mr. Stark," Adam said, trying to suppress his smile, "J.A.R.V.I.S. put up an incredible fight. My AI just has a slight advantage in computing power."
Tony gave Adam a sharp look. He wasn't buying it. He knew better. It wasn't just computing power—Skynet's entire architecture was superior.
Still, Tony wasn't the type to sulk for long.
"You win this time, kid," Tony admitted, sending over his AI research files as promised. "But don't get too cocky. I'll develop an AI that'll blow yours out of the water. Mark my words."
Adam fought back a laugh. Two days? Good luck with that.
"Mr. Stark, you're still a genius," Adam said diplomatically. "Your work in mechanical engineering and nuclear physics is light-years ahead of mine. I just happen to specialize in AI."
Tony's ego visibly inflated at the compliment, his earlier irritation fading.
"Not bad, kid," Tony said, smirking again. "You've got some talent, I'll give you that."
But while Tony was talking, Adam's mind was racing.
The system had just activated a new function:
"Congratulations! New System Feature Unlocked: Technology Extraction!"
"Through direct interaction or confrontation with key characters, you can now extract technologies and insights."
Adam's eyes widened.
Holy crap. The system's just getting better and better.
This wasn't just useful—it was a game changer.
Until now, Adam had relied solely on the technologies preloaded into the system. While advanced, they were mostly limited to artificial intelligence and computing.
But with this new feature, Adam could now expand his expertise.
Tony Stark, for example, was a mechanical engineering genius with expertise in nuclear physics, materials science, and robotics.
And now, thanks to the system, Adam could extract Tony's knowledge simply by interacting with him.
He checked the system notifications again:
"Technology extracted—Tony Stark's AI architecture and optimization frameworks integrated."
Adam could hardly contain his excitement.
With this new feature, he didn't need to be a genius in every field—he could just take knowledge from others.
And Tony Stark? He was just the beginning.
Tony, meanwhile, was still explaining AI theories—clearly trying to assert some dominance after his earlier defeat.
Adam, however, had already tuned him out. He was too busy marveling at the system's potential.
"Mr. Stark," Adam interrupted, "this has been fun, but I need to get back to my own work. I've got some experiments to run."
Tony blinked. "What? We're not done talking—"
"Another time," Adam said with a grin, already walking toward the door.
As he left, Adam couldn't stop smiling.
Tony Stark was a goldmine.
And with the system's new feature, Adam was about to mine every last scrap of knowledge he could get from the world's so-called geniuses.
