Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

She still remembered getting trapped in the swarm of these flesh-eating bugs. Back then, she and her team went to hunt down supplies, as it was the start of the apocalypse; there was no systematic approach to hunting the supplies. They all joined a base and then formed a team with the strong ability users and headed outside to the zombie-infested world.

Bai Meiyue and her team did the same. Even though she was not the leader, as she was the strongest ability user, everyone followed her and her commands. Of course, this was before they found out that she was pregnant and dumped her because they feared she would drag them down.

Anyway, their team was once surrounded and cornered by these flesh-eating bugs. Because the number of these bugs was too high, Bai Meiyue and the rest of the team couldn't hide, and if not for Bai Meiyue, who erected an ice dome that protected their team, their entire team would have been eradicated in a matter of a few seconds.

Because when they were attacked by the flesh-eating bugs, they were not alone. There were other teams that were following them from bases next to them; unlike Bai Meiyue's team, they didn't have any ability users who had both offensive and defensive abilities. Thus, they were soon overwhelmed by the flesh-eating bugs.

And the sight of humans being gnawed and eaten alive in front of her—Bai Meiyue would rather not see it again.

This was also the reason why she didn't draw any blood and froze the corpses of those soldiers and the researchers. She was not being kind by giving them a swift and clean death, but because she had no desire to spill the blood and attract more flesh-eating bugs. If she allowed the blood to seep into the carpeted floor, she would be attracting more of those flesh-eating bugs, as the scent of flesh and blood was what attracted these creatures.

If she had killed those soldiers and researchers today by drawing blood, Bai Meiyue was worried that she would be looking at a rather hideous sight today.

Since the situation was not getting any better, it was better for her to take Mother Bai out of the base and arrange everything for her in the new nest that they had prepared. Although the mansion was surrounded by zombies of all ranks and strengths, they could be killed. The same couldn't be said for the flesh-eating bugs and Yu Miaomiao, who would become a bigger pain in the bottom if they were not careful.

It was better to leave rather than cause trouble for themselves by stubbornly staying here. Even though Bai Meiyue understood that her mother was not willing, they couldn't continue living here anymore.

On the other side, Bai Xue was thinking the same. She thought that with Bai Feng joining the base, she would be able to live a good life. But Bai Xue overestimated her own ability. She was spoiled by her parents and she had learned nothing nor did she have any skills. At most, she knew how to sweet-talk.

Thus, when the officers tried to arrange a job for her, they could only arrange a clerk job. However, Bai Xue, who had never worked a day in her life, felt exhausted the second she started working. She had imagined something else, and the reality was different from what she had dreamed of.

She was forced to work from day to night and she couldn't even get the satisfaction of doing something. She was made to serve those who were in higher positions, and all day long Bai Xue went around the employee lounge to make coffee or tea.

Bai Xue stomped her feet as she stormed inside the apartment that was given to them and cried to her mother, "Mom! I cannot go on like this, do you even see how they are treating me?"

Chu Xia's heart ached for her daughter. She reached out and patted her on the back before saying, "Just hold on a little longer. Your dad has been trying to reach out to your Uncle Huang. Once he finds us, then we will be able to get out of here, and you won't have to worry about anything."

"Mom, you have been saying this to me for ages now," Bai Xue whined like a child as she sat down on the couch. She had been waiting for Uncle Huang to come and look for them but the man was nowhere to be seen. He promised them and now that man was gone as if he had disappeared into thin air. "Do you think that the man would betray us?"

When Chu Xia heard her daughter's complaints, her eyes flashed with a murderous intent and she said to Bai Xue, "Don't worry. Your father has quite a handle on that man; he would rather burn the world than betray us."

Only then did Bai Xue stop clamouring. But not for long. "Mom, when I was returning, I heard something from the people at work."

"What did you hear?"

"I heard them say that Bai Meiyue killed more than fifteen people alone and that too with a flick of her fingers," replied Bai Xue sourly. She had been waiting for her powers to manifest but no matter how hard she tried, even when she used the crystal nuclei that Bai Feng brought with him, she couldn't awaken her skills.

Bai Xue was really jealous when she recalled how those men and women were talking about Bai Meiyue with such great reverence. Did that woman even deserve it? She was supposed to be stomped to death by her!

When Chu Xia heard that Bai Meiyue had killed fifteen people, her heart suddenly clenched. She never knew that Bai Meiyue was this crazy, she parted her lips and then asked, "Why did she kill them? Do you know the reason or did she kill them for absolutely no reason?"

"According to my colleagues… those soldiers tried to threaten her family and child."
