Chapter 175: Lily Is The Boss Baby.
Aron Rao was sitting inside his office and he was reading through the balance sheet of the theater business accounts, when his secretary knocked on the door. He waved his hand for the lady to come in and asked, "What is it Tonya?"
Tonya had a stern hair do, and she said, "Sir, you had asked me to update you if we find any information on Leo Cardinal."
Aron Rao stopped what he was doing and raised his head as he asked, "What is it?"
Tonya replied, "It is discovered that Mister Cardinal is the President behind the rising Tech company, Butterfly Technologies. He made a press appearance."
Aron Rao was surprised and asked, "What is so special about this company to be called rising?"
Tonya replied, "From the analysis of major finance experts, we have determined that Butterfly Tech Company is worth around three hundred million Yuan, and is sharply rising with each passing day.
We have also found that they have steadily gained more traction in the mobile, and laptop market. The products can compete with international products directly and they don't lack even a bit in performance."
Aron was confused, "How can a mobile company that is not even an year old gain such a big market share and net evaluation number?"
Tonya replied, "They have the patent for a microprocessor, which is completely in-house. They have a military contract worth two hundred million. It is being used in many projects."
Aron almost stood up from his chair and asked, "How can the military trust them so much?"
It was obvious that having Military connections was of a significant value, but more than that, it elevated the status of the companies and the individuals driving those connections into something that could not be touched just because they wanted to.
Tonya replied, "Butterfly technologies is manufacturing them under strict supervision of the military, the tech can only be licensed or sold to those who are government approved. This is a classic act of money making and securing the asset."
Aron clicked his tongue and said, "Leo Cardinal has always been ahead of the rest when it came to his business acumen, and he had a great insight on measuring the potential of the people as well."
…
Leo, the subject of awe and hate for Aron Rao, was sitting in his study room, talking to Simon Silence. The call had come in just a few minutes ago, and Simon had finished giving him the summary of what happened when they sent the videos of the rich scions to the heads of the families.
Simon had expressed how impressed he was about Leo's prediction. He said, "Sir, I have always thought that while the rich hated the weak and the poor, they stood together to face troubles. However, you have subverted that perception of mine. They are really a bunch of dogs."
Leo chuckled and replied, "You are insulting the dogs if you address them in such a manner. These people all come from the cutthroat background. They had to fight to ascend the position, it was not only the fight outside but inside the house also. How do you think all this works? Do you think the young people of the family don't want power and status?
The elders just assure that the fighting is sophisticated. Now, tell me what they want?"
Simon Silence said, "They want to meet, and they want to do it tonight."
Leo hummed and said, "Call them all to the pub and get things ready. Also, clean the pub and put in some flowery room fresheners, my daughter hates the scent of alcohol."
Simon chuckled and said, "It shall be as the Young Miss wants then."
The call was disconnected and Leo came downstairs to find Clara serving the dinner on the table. Lily looked at Leo and pouted, as she asked, "Did you forget your promise to me?"
Leo shook his head, he knew that since he had been on the call for an hour, this little goblin will bare fangs at him, and he said, "No, I was actually discussing with Simon about taking you to an office that we have in the south side of the city."
Lily smiled and asked, "Yes, when are we going?"
Leo sighed and shook his head while frowning as he said, "I am not sure, you see, this office is not like the other places, here we hold the unofficial meetings and talk about some serious stuff. If things don't go our way then we bully people to say yes. I don't think children should go there."
Anastasia, Snow, and Clara were shocked, they didn't expect that Leo would say something like this to Lily, she was a child after all, however, Leo knew that his daughter was different from the normal children in the world. So, he didn't mind telling her the gist of this office.
Lily thought for a bit, with a serious expression and leaned back as she asked, "Are we causing harm to the world by these meetings?"
Leo shook his head, and Lily asked, "Are we troubling innocent people?"
The young man again shook his head, Lily continued asking similar questions and Leo answered all of them one by one. This time, even Snow understood what Leo was doing. He was gradually exposing her to the grey side of the world where right and wrong depended on perception. He was teaching her to see the bigger picture.
Lily nodded and said, "Since we are not causing chaos, it is not a problem for me to go. I want to learn how to intimidate the people into doing what is right. There are many people in the world who try to exploit others. As long as we exploit the exploiters, it is karma."
Snow looked at her daughter and suddenly remarked, "Sometimes I really want to see if my baby has been possessed by a goblin. Where do you come up with such things?"
Lily raised her chin higher and replied, "It is all in my genes."
The people chuckled and then Leo said, "I will take you over, but you are not to speak and only listen and watch. Understood?"
Lily nodded, and Snow looked at Leo in askance if he was sure. The young man nodded and said, "It is just a meeting for intent confirmation and probe, that is all."
Snow nodded, as she said, "I don't want it to escalate further, she is young at the moment."
Leo nodded and replied, "I know love."
Snow then turned to look at Lily as she said, "Aunt Grisha has apologized thirty times, she wanted to come and visit your school in the afternoon, but was delayed because of some work. She will personally come to make amends with your baba and you at noon tomorrow, be nice to her, okay?"
Lily nodded and said, "It will depend on her sincerity."
…
After dinner, Lily ran up to Leo's room and found the young man dressed in a black shirt and pants. She quickly darted to her room, and came out wearing a black jeans, and topped it up with a leather jacket, and a black t-shirt. She also wore her black boots that were lined with soft fur.
Snow saw her daughter and was shocked, because at the same moment, Leo came out with the similar, black outfit. She whistled and asked, "I didn't know my family has a couple of gangsters."
Lily chuckled and then she walked over to her mother in a stoic fashion and kissed her cheeks as she said, "You are the queen of the house, we have to be tough to protect you."
Leo almost laughed out loud, because the pretense and the voice were too mismatched. Snow also stifled a laugh and kissed Lily's cheek and said, "Listen to Baba, and don't act out. You are the Boss Baby, let the people under you handle things."
Lily nodded before she got down the couch and then skipped out of the living room, while Leo followed her with an amused smile on his face. Jock and his team were all ready to leave.
They saw Lily coming over and Leo said, "What are you gawking at, the Boss Baby is moving out, salute her. Don't offend her."
Everyone smiled and they bowed to Lily slightly before they got inside the car and the convoy moved. Usually, Leo doesn't bring along armed guards, but tonight, Lily was going with him, Jock had secretly passed him a gun as well.
Leo had given Zeenat one task, that was to watch Lily and keep her safe. He was sure that as sneaky a person as Aron was, he might try to make a move on him, and if that man dared. It won't be tolerated.
After an hour, they appeared in the south zone of the city and the cars back in the back of the all too familiar South Street Bar. Leo held Lily's hand as they got down the car, and he said, "Guys, be on your toes tonight."
Then the tall and short Cardinals entered the bar, the meeting was about to begin.
