Chapter 37: Death Part I
“Looks like I have to first have a go at these slimes again.”
Joke muttered as he finally stepped out of the city. He walked straight to the slime meadow that had already been there with Rin yesterday. He was unsure whether it was now still early for this meadow was completely devoid of people arriving to strike down these blue jellies, or whether they were all heading other ways because rewarded experience points from monsters seemed to not be worth it.
Therefore, all of the slimes bouncing around were all his by default!
"Let me see. The quest tells me to defeat all 20 slimes, and there’s a Daily Quest to try out Skill Cards for 40 times as well... So, I better get over with both of these quests right here.”
Joke immediately made his decision because from what he saw yesterday, he must admit that these "slimes" were considered to be much weaker monsters than the others; hence, it would be most suitable for him to use them to burn through his quests quickly.
“Then, off you go, Eureasa!”
Without any further delay, Joke quickly called out his best card in this deck until it disintegrated into a magic circle, summoning a new half onto the field. A fragile figure of a woman emerged from the magic circle before stepping onto the ground and flicking back her hair. Her silver hair dancing in the wind was as beautiful as snowflakes falling under the night sky. Her porcelain face with a hint of smile turned to smile at he who was her master. The white dress that was worn behind the metal armor made her look like a warrior and a fragile woman at the same time. Her well-defined face along with lavender purple eyes seemed rather gorgeous.
She then bowed down slightly as a greeting to her new master.
Joke smiled faintly in return.
“Nice to meet you, Eureasa,” Joke greeted.
The half-maiden did not offer him any reply. She simply smiled and nodded in return.
“Let’s take a look at what you can do.”
So, he then opened up Eureasa’s information window, which had already been set as his current “partner”.

Eureasa LV1 (Fire)

♦♦♦♦
Race: warrior / dragon
*decrease 1 unit of MP needed for summoning a dragon*
*atk+1 def+1 to every dragon on the battlefield*

Attack-3
Defense-3

HP 1,500 (DP-5)

It was still unknown whether this lady had an outstanding ability in any area or not as both her attack and defense were all at three units, which were considered as a little bit more average, but it was not high enough compared to those who were full of a warrior race. Her skills were not created to complement “weapon cards” like other generic warriors but rather created to support dragons.
“Anyway, I’ll have to test it out, then.”
Joke declared while turning to make eye contact with Eureasa, which she nodded in return with a smile.
“Well then, let’s try this out. Get rid of that slime, Eureasa!”
The novice summoner issued his first command to his half. Those lavender-colored eyes flickered towards the enemy upon her master’s command. She unsheathed her thin rapier that was hung at her waist before dashing straight towards the slime that was bouncing about nearby.
100
The damage number flashed above the blue slime’s head as soon it was stabbed by the rapier. It appeared that the jelly blob would not be defeated with a single blow. It bounced off and turned its gaze upon its mischievous enemy before immediately hurling itself straight at the warrioress!
“Move to the left!”
Joke screamed out his warning, sending the half-maiden to slightly twist her body until her silver locks swayed in the air as if they were waltzing around. This caused the jelly to miss its target and opened up a chance for Eureasa to attack from behind—a hit that caused up to 140 damage units, which was enough for that slime to burst out into silver coins and small jelly cubes that were then scattered all over the floor in place of its body.
“Seems like it’s not a one-hit kill like Oberik’s,” he said. “Well, of course. This one’s just at level one, how could it be compared to a level thirty?”
After saying that, he opened up the information window on Eureasa once again, realizing that there was an experience bar underneath it. This was likely a bar indicating when she would be leveling up. And now after defeating a slime, the bar was filled with a blue stripe and marked with a 3%.
“Three percent for a slime, I see. Then, your level will go up with a hundred slimes, right?”
Joke turned to ask his half partner, in which the young woman simply smiled and nodded her head in confirmation. Joke hoped that his half would be able to interact with him like the NPCs in town, but it seemed like every half was not able to speak. Nevertheless, they could react to a summoner’s words and commands, at least.
“If so, let’s continue doing so. At least let’s level up together with completing the slime quest at the same time.”
After saying so, Joke swiftly called out a new card, ready for it to be used.
"Dragon Step!"
It was a Skill Card that was called out from the deck this time—a card which was…

Dragon Step
----------------
♦♦
Condition: dragon rider
Call out two dragons with less than 2 MP units onto the field
----------------
The card in Joke’s hands dissolved as soon as the command was issued before forming together in front of Eureasa. She picked up a dragon horn that was attached to her waist before blowing out a high-pitched whistle with the horn.
Fweet!
Two dragons suddenly emerged from the magic circle surrounding Eureasa. They were two small baby dragons that looked unproportional with large heads and tiny bodies and wings. Their tiny wings were flapping rapidly only enough for its body to rise just a little higher than Eureasa’s head—a sight so adorable causing Joke to let out a laugh.
“I see. So, this Skill Card can summon two small dragons onto the field and also increases Eureasa’s power by two units.”
The dragons that were specially summoned were “Baby Blue Dragon" and "Baby Red Dragon", both of which were dragons with only one unit of attack and defense with absolutely no additional special abilities (apart from being adorable). Nevertheless, when they were standing alongside a dragon rider like Eureasa, unexpected outcomes might be delivered.
“Well, then, you guys—people—er, creatures?—never mind. Destroy twenty slimes in front of you!”
Joke tried issuing a vague order, in which his three halves immediately acted upon obediently. Eureasa was, in fact, more powerful than before when there were dragons out on the field. Her sword caused up to three hundred fifty units of damage once it pierced through a slime, which was thrice than before and enough to put out the blue slimes in a one-hit blow.
On the other hand, the two little dragons were going around and about awkwardly. Even though they were unable to attack impactfully, they relied on the fact that they could fly and helped out by spitting out small fireballs at the slimes—which was enough to put up a fight.
And when the three halves went fighting in two separate directions, the number of defeated slimes raised much more at a faster rate along with the amount of experience points.
Pah-pa-ra!
A high-pitched sound then rang out in Joke’s ears all of a sudden, causing Joke to slightly cease his actions. The bodies of the two little dragons faintly lit up with small fireworks setting off near their bodies. With that, Joke quickly opened up the information window on these two dragons.
“Oh… leveled up already?”
