Age of Summoner

Chapter 38: Death Part II

“Oh… leveled up already?”

It appeared that the two dragons had already moved up to level two.

It appeared that the lower level the half was, the shorter their experience bar would be and the easier for it to level up because Eureasa’s experience bar had not even exceeded thirty percent yet. It went without saying that she who was a “rare card” was stronger than the two dragons that were “common cards”.

“Well, since you’ve leveled up, let’s try out a new skill!” Joke declared before calling out a new card onto this hand. “Breath of Fire!”

Breath of Fire

Condition: fire dragon

Every dragon on the field that was on one’s own side breathes fire at the enemy and atk +1 for each dragon on one’s own side deployed

The card in Joke’s hand dissolved away once the command was uttered. The two little dragons flew a little higher. They spread out their wings slightly before arching back their necks until flames were seen flashing. In the blink of an eye, the two dragons spat out fire in a straight line at the slimes that were bouncing below them so violently that they instantly shattered. And on top of that, they swung their necks, dragging their flames and sweeping over the other jellies, causing around ten more of them to burst apart.

Joke was astonished at that unexpected outcome.

“That’s pretty powerful though it was against a slime, it looks like the more dragons there are, the stronger attacks this skill will provide.”

And with this attack, the little blue and red dragons had already risen to level three.

“I’m getting into the swings of it.”

He was beginning to get the hang of it the more he fought on. Joke then ordered the three of his halves to hurriedly stamp out all of the surrounding slimes—which seemed vulnerable, continuously bursting apart pitifully. The young man began experimenting with a variety of other Skill Cards to complete the forty required for his Daily Quest.

His current battle against the slimes was at its most brutality—the sight almost similar to animal cruelty. Because the longer the battle prolonged, the more intense Skill Cards were tried out, which included equipping Eureasa with a Dragon Slayer Sword that enhanced her power even more than before.

When fifteen minutes had passed, the two dragons had risen to level five while Eureasa to level three. It would simply be useless to count the number of slimes he defeated as his slime quest had been completed ages ago. Even though the defeated slimes were back in his hands as cards, he was still hooked with what he was doing, refusing to stop commanding his halves to go after these poor jellies.

“Looks like their experience bars are not filling up anymore,” Joke stated as he looked at the information window before him. “I guess the EXP given out by these creatures is not enough for Eureasa and these two dragons. I have to change my location for the other quests, then... Anyway, let me complete the first Daily Quest here first.”

Joke uttered as he used his hand to draw up an information window in front of him to check his quest’s status, which showed that he had to use around ten more Skill Cards until the quest was completed.

“All of the Skill Cards are currently on cooldown, and the rest are not skills for combat either,” Joke stated as he examined his deck. “Perhaps I should attack these guys just for the sake of experience points for a while, then.”

Boing.

Suddenly, something squishy and soft hit Joke’s back, causing him to be slightly taken back. His rusty iron-colored orbs turned to see what was bumping against him, and when he saw what it was, he—gasped. The object looked like a blob of blue liquid, almost three meters large, the size that he had to crane his neck to look at it. Its body was plump and round, and there was also a golden crown on top of its head that caught his eye.

"W... what is this?"

Joke muttered in surprise. He had never seen this absurd creature before. For clarity, it looked like every other slime in every way, but its size was way bigger beyond any comparison. Plus, there was also a crown on top of its head.

Mookie!!!!!

The giant slime suddenly let out a loud cry, causing Joke to flinch and Eureasa’s lavender-colored orbs to suddenly flicker back towards him. When she saw that an unexpected monster could reach his master’s body, she gasped before turning around and sprinting towards him quickly.

The swordsman grasped her Dragon Slayer Sword tightly in her hands before dashing straight at the giant slime without waiting for any of Joke’s commands as it was her automatic reflex to help her own master.

“Huh? ...W...Wait a minute, Eureasa…”

It seemed to be a bit too late to hold her back when that giant slime opened its mouth wide before stretching a slimy object, which was probably its tongue, and wrapping it around Eureasa’s body before flicking its tongue back into its mouth along with the body of the female swordsman!

"Hey, hey... The heck, she was gulped!?"

Joker cried out. He tried calling up any card to help his half, but all seemed to be too late.

The swallowed half maiden’s body instantly shattered into vapor inside of that giant slime’s mouth, causing Joke’s eyes to go wide at that sight.

Upon that sight, the two little dragons immediately flew towards the enemy to protect their master. But even Eureasa that was an S card was defeated (gulped), these little babies would not stand the chance. The giant slimed began spewing sticky slush at these two dragons until their wings became stuck and ultimately fell onto the ground.

“Hey!” Joke screamed loudly as this giant slime jumped up five meters high before plunging down, squashing onto the two little dragons brutally, causing their tiny little bodies to shatter into dust on the spot!

The unexpected attack caused Joke to gasp out in a daze.

First and foremost, he did not even know why this slime was attacking him. Plus, it had a skill level so dire he had never seen before. And in that instant, the giant slime turned its body around and glared at Joke before moving its mouth around as it smirked irksomely at him.

Joke’s mana was currently too low for him to summon out another half to fight. He was enjoying trying out Skill Cards too much he did not even expect a weasel to sneak up on him like this...

“I’m screwed…” Joke scowled.

.

.

"Ow!? Why are you back in this state, young man?!”

The panicked cry belonged to none other than Thomas who was in charge of the bar inside the Quest Center. The reason behind his cry was nothing else but because there was a figure of a young man walking into this bar in a disastrous state along with a foul smell that made every summoner want to raise up their hands to cover up their noses.

"Sorry for bothering you, but is there a way for me to get out of this?"

That worn-out young man was none other than Joke, whose body was now covered with sticky blue mucus, looking disgusting. His hair fell flat down, out of shape. However, he still—surprisingly—had a total blank expression on his face.

“What hit you, young man?" Thomas asked as he raised his hand over his nose.

“Some monsters around the front of the town.”

“Front of the town?” The elder raised his eyebrows. “Aren’t there only slimes in front of the town? Well, then, go ahead and describe the monster that got you, young man.”

“It’s a really huge slime, and it also wears a crown.”
