After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 1284: Magic Ropes!

A bit more time went on and every part of the wall was still filled with people and battles. However, unlike before, the numbers of the enemies had significantly reduced and weakened, balancing out the differences.

Although the levels and amount of Alterrans had been lower, their momentum, coordination, and overall effectiveness were still superior to the enemies.

There were many injuries, but they were quickly taken care of. Some of them would even return to the battlefield right after getting their basic treatments.

This was in contrast to the enemies who, after getting heavily injured, were practically useless if they were not dead.

Anyway, elements continued to fly all over, arrow rains continued to fall down, and the occasional cannons would cause intermittent damage here and there, destroying whatever formation the enemy had begun to form.

Paralysis, sleeping, and other minor bombs were also thrown to the crowd below. Although the prevalent versions were not so effective past level 15, they could provide enough imbalance to make the enemies easier targets, reducing their numbers more and more.

The enemy elementalists Baison and the others fought hard as ordered, trying to imbalance those in the battlement as much as they could. However, there were still more Alterran elementalists with the same level as they were, and their equipment was far superior, so how could the Terran slaves do so much?

Overall, the enemy numbers actively fighting was slowly balancing out with Alterrans, though those currently fighting didn't quite seem to notice it yet.

This was especially true for Baku's area, who was fighting on the ground.

He specifically targeted anyone who ordered the slaves and gave them gruesome deaths—the "kindest" of which was a body divided into two.

Because of this, the enemy citizens became afraid to bellow out orders, and they really just focused on creating an opening and getting inside to find hiding spots from these monsters!

Sadly, this was also where the now-recovered Teng and Turocc decided to pierce through. There were more than a hundred of them in this team.

Many of them were injured and had a lot of blood, and they all had deep anger in their hearts.

Turocc was particularly solemn, deeply angry at Alterra. This was especially since he went through the array, his chances of becoming a slave if they lost was practically guaranteed! They could not afford to lose!

They had no time to waste, and they did not hold back as they went through, sprinting as fast as they could.

Baku naturally was there to block them. However, dealing with him would take time, so the strategy was to contain him.

Turocc and the others focused on avoiding him, using extra mana to increase their speeds. On the other hand, some team members from the Rongo mercenary team covered the sides, and this included dealing with the two half-orcs.

A few elites immediately separated from the dense group of more than a hundred powerhouses, blocking Maomao and Baku.

The two half-orcs cursed, but considering they had been weakened by the fights, they knew they wouldn't be able to get out of this fight so soon.

Immediately, Baku took out his flare and lit it up, angled in the direction where Turocc and the others were heading.

He used the color that indicated the most dangerous leak.

Don't let them get in too deep!

….

Outside the walls, the two half-orcs handled at least 3 elites around level 20 each. Including the slaves and the other enemies at the wall, they were obviously entering a bit of a pinch.

To maximize their cover, the two half-orcs were pushed back so their backs were covered by the walls and sentries. They managed to hold on with minimal injuries, thanks to their flexible armors and the remaining potions they still had.

They had to use a lot more than humans, however, so they would have to refill soon.

On the other hand, the enemies saw they were pushed back and felt even more confident. They ordered the slaves to cover for them, catching sentry and ballista arrows, focusing on the monstrous enemies at hand.

"HEH! Do you think we didn't prepare for you?!" One of the enemies yelled at Baku, holding out a very familiar rope that made Baku's eyes twitch.

It was a magic tool.

Baku gritted his teeth. He hated that tool to death!

Baku had a very bad experience with this so he was particularly angry.

ROAAR!

When Bart and the others trapped Baku with this thing the first time, he felt extremely humiliated. It reminded him of his time as a slave, and he abhorred it! Bart and the others were lucky they didn't have bad evil smell on them, otherwise, he'd have tried his best to kill them even if it meant his own life.

Anyway, when he found out that while the tool was expensive and uncommon, it was not too rare for Towns and Cities, he immediately tried to find a way so it wouldn't affect him again.

He befriended some experts and find a way so he didn't have to go through it again.

They naturally didn't have magic tools against them, but they could study on how not to get trapped, including mastering some body movements.

Apparently, the tool's movements still worked like a normal rope except it was basically indestructible until a certain level.

So… the humans helped Baku practice with normal ropes.

They would move them like 'cowboys' (whatever that meant), and Baku would be given the task of avoiding them using a certain set of moves.

For example, he'd have to bend his back in awkward angles, or he'd have to rotate his hips in an odd manner.

It was hard since he was so big and not flexible at all (which in turn made him even more stupid), but the weakness really affected him and he was adamant on fixing it.

He later found out that he apparently looked very silly doing so.

Maomao laughed a lot whenever they peeked at his 'practice session'. She would even bring Gochi to laugh along with her.

It was embarrassing but he pushed through. Now, he knew that it was a wise decision! Even if he was surrounded, that damned rope had yet to touch him!

Heh, take that Maomao!
