After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 1283: Half-Orc’s Sector (Part 2)

On various other sides of the territory, the two half-orcs had also jumped down the walls to go against the strongmen, along with a couple of other teammates.

Unlike Baku though, they were not strong enough to handle level 30s on their own. For one, their levels were only 19 and 17, respectively, and their physiques just couldn't be compared to that of the tiger.

It didn't mean they were weak, of course.

Gochi was assigned to the north sector, where he immediately went to after finding the leaks that they could. As soon as it became difficult to find the rest, they did the practical thing and moved the manpower where they'd be more useful.

There were fewer people here, but there were still several hundred of them. There were fortunately no extreme powerhouses in this area.

The enemy's strategy was to attack all parts to spread their forces, but their strongest forces—those who were level 30 and above—were mostly focused on certain spots to create a breach, which was actually smart and definitely Fargo's idea.

So, the rest of the area was troublesome but was a bit less dangerous. This was how, for now, the north sector was.

This was also how Gochi could jump down and make direct attacks on the enemies, while several elementalist teammates kept the enemies down while watching his back.

Back on the battlement—

"Shoot em, shoot em," Jesse chanted, poking his cousin Angelo, who was shooting at people with his crossbow. He specifically targeted those near or climbing the walls, and so did Jesse.

Sadly, the enemies this time averaged at level 15, so they couldn't one-shot people anymore, especially since most of them weren't even at that level.

They really missed those one-shot kill moments.

They should volunteer to get assigned to the associate villages to feel powerful again.

Anyway, Angelo's shot arrow after arrow in hopes of reducing the forces that'd try to climb up to them.

However, it was still a fact that there were only a few thousand guards and the rest of their fighting forces—also a few thousand—were outnumbered and outleveled.

It was simply not as easy to kick people down the stairs when they were nearly twice your level.

They eventually begun to see a few injuries, though their logistics and medical team tried their best to rescue them.

The broatbulance and bikebulances were in full gear, going to and fro the walls to the medical facilies without stopping.

Fortunately, Gochi was here. He rushed towards the crowd, grabbing as many enemies as he could, kicking, punching, and throwing them at others.

He was only level 19, but he could definitely take on a few level 20s at the same time. "AHHH!" one yelled as he was punched right at the face.

The others, especially the weaker ones, hesitated to be vanguard, but the leaders called on the slaves to surround him and suffocate him by sheer numbers.

Like Baku, Gochi also had soft spots for slaves. He could jump higher than the heavy tiger though, so he managed to avoid the mob for a few seconds.

He jumped up, a few meters above, and he waved his hand as a fine powder released.

This was his own sleeping powder, created by what he had learned so far.

It was not so effective that it'd make people drop of this level unconscious as soon as they inhaled it, but it'd make them groggy even for just a couple of seconds. For Gochi, who had to deal with a handful of level 20s, these few seconds were essential.

Several weaker people fell and were stepped on. There were also a lot of slaves, but at least they had the chance to survive rather than meet death with his claws.

Gochi focused on the people who gave orders. His feet stomped on the man's shoulders which was an odd sight as he was several heads taller. Without warning, he rotated his center.

Crack!

And the man's head bent at an awkward angle.

The people around gasped with the slaves continuously surroinding him, though he always jumped up, kicking the Basset citizens down when he could, taking advantage of the enemy numbers to assist him.

While he was in the middle, the other Alterrans were naturally not idle. At this time, thousands of slaves and citizens were climbing up their access stairs.

Maomao's station was about a hundred or so meters away from Baku's. So far, she had successfully helped clear her area from potential leaks. However, when the flare lit up on Baku's side, she immediately headed there for support.

Anyone with agility skills like Maomao were allowed to—according to their own judgement— shift stations up to a certain distance.

Her area, fortunately, didn't have a level 30 team lead and was, therefore, much more manageable than Baku's.

Another, after a few hours of observation, some news was spread by the logistics team (who also doubled as sources of updates about what was going on in other areas).

Apparently, the enemy powerhouses almost always came in groups or pairs to maximize their penetration of Alterra's defense. This meant that if there was something that troubled Baku, he didn't come alone.

And they were right.

At this time, Baku was fighting against another level 30 individual from a Basset Town mercenary team, along with 2 other level 20s. Apparently, he was targeted by sentries, longbows, and arrows infused with elements earlier on and had no choice but to back out, his partner not noticing he was gone until it was too late.

By the time he recovered after drinking several bottles of healing potions, he gathered more allies to take advantage of the leak his now-dead ally had managed to create.

And so was the current scene.

However, while half-orcs were rarely dependent on mana because of their physiques and the type of skills he had, Baku had found his spirit and energy affected by the earlier fight.

Hence, the battle between him and level 30, as well as his small group of elites, seemed pretty even, with Baku even entering the state of being pushed back.

This was when Maomao entered, jumping from above. From certain angles, it seemed like she was flying.

One of the level 20's had the right angle to see her coming. His eyes widened and he opened his mouth to alert his teammates.

However, the furry feet appeared in front of him, kicking him smack on the face and he flew like a dead twig several meters back, taking a few slaves with him.

The others immediately went on defense, with the level 30 gunning for Maomao, knowing she'd be the weaker one between the two half-orcs.

However, how could Maomao let him take her on so easily!?

[Penetrating Kick]

The kick landed on the man's shoulder.

"AH!"

He screamed as he felt some bones break and some flesh to cave in. With gritted teeth, he lifted his other hand and quickly gripped her feet, and used his force to throw her down mid-air.

However, before she could fall, she twisted her body to hit him with her other leg, causing him to get lifted upwards and forcing him to let go of her.

Meanwhile, Baku was not idle. Kicking away the two level 20s next to him, he took advantage of the level 30's temporary distraction to finally get rid of him.

His clawed hands grabbed on the man's foot before he landed, and he used it as a pivot to throw him around head-first.

BANG!

BAM!

BAM!

On the other hand, Maomao jumped up again, targeting the remaining level 20s there. They were a little imbalanced with Baku's earlier throw, and she used this chance to use her skills again, even if it meant consuming much of her remaining mana.

[Penetrating Kick]

[Penetrating Kick]

Her kick embedded on one of the level 20s body, breaking that part of him. The other managed to avoid, but was hit by the sentry straight at the chest. Because his defense equipment had long given way, such a direct hit ended up taking his life in the end.

At the same time, Baku saw that the level 30 was disoriented enough. He took this chance to kick him down, embedding his claws at the back of his neck, right where he knew humans had their weaknesses.

With a bit more effort and concentrating aether on his claws, Baku successfully buried his claws on the man's neck and—with an intense pull—he pulled out his spine.

Squelch!

Finally killing him.
