After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

With reluctance on their faces, the Terrans used their elements to attack. The fire-user controlled his flamethrower, while the wind-user expanded it using his ability while also adding wind slashes amidst the flames.

Their levels wouldn't be enough to kill him, but it was enough to hurt and distract him.

The elementalists used a lot of their remaining mana to send targeted attacks, while the other 'normal' slaves were ordered to protect them from sentry attacks—even if it was using their own bodies.

But the enemy knew it wouldn't be enough.

"MORE! MORE ELEMENTALISTS! COME HERE!!" the man yelled, proceeding to set up another ladder and letting more and more people through the walls while the guards of the battlements were busy defending.

As much as he'd want to attack now, the goal in war had always been to enter the territory. His goal was to weaken the half-orc more before attacking—all while setting up access for his side!

The longer this war lasted, the clearer it was that they could really lose.

He'd rather kill thousands of people than become a slave!

In any case, the elementalists within earshot—who were assigned to use their elements to create openings and block attacks— abandoned their posts to follow this order.

Three more arrived, all with different elements, and they immediately attacked Baku from different angles. Similarly, normal slaves were also assigned to defend them.

Slaves weren't counted in the population list required to enter the walls, and their task was to let the proper citizens inside, no matter what the cost.

Baku—who was gaining a few wounds— had to take out his shield from the space. All guards had a Class D shield in their spaces, regardless of whether or not they had the shieldsman occupation or not.

It was used during these cases where one was surrounded and needed to increase defense, even if they could not attack.

Baku wanted to go and destroy their access first, but the five elementalist enemies seemed to be determined to shower him with elements.

Meanwhile, the people at the battlements were busy handling the leaks. They tried to help Baku out from the side, some of whom attacked the Elementalists directly, though they were mostly preoccupied with their own fights.

Fortunately, there were a few hits. While not all attacks were directly lethal, all of them were purposely debilitating. However, because slaves were pushed beyond their physical limits by the 'orders', they somehow remained standing despite their injuries.

After the ladder was set up, the level 30 immediately lunged towards Baku, who he believed had been sufficiently weakened already.

The Terrans could see the 'master' raising his weapon against the defending half-orc. After taking down another sentry arrow heading in his direction, he then lunged to the half-orc to attack.

The Terrans wanted to warn Baku, but they could not. Before the war, they were all ordered to shut up. Fargo knew they would become a bit troublesome otherwise.

However, the level 30 was expecting Baku to push himself towards and attack the slaves, specifically where his shield was facing. The level 30 strategically attacked the opposite side, which was his obvious blind spot.

However, he did not expect the half-orc to turn his back on them completely, turning to him.

"Wha—"

Exposing his back to the elements, the half-orc grabbed his face and smashed him down to the ground.

BANG!

At this time, he was barely level 24—even when he worked much harder than the other two.

Baku had reached level 24 after grinding hard. He joined Garan and they pretty much cleared out the area around Ferrol (for which Jonathan sent them a lot of supplies for), and he only reached his current level.

However…, even so, he was far stronger than humans and a typical level 30 could actually be defeated under the right conditions.

For example, with the level 30 being unable to move and counter because his head was being squashed.

CRACK!

The half-orc raised his arm that held onto the level 30's head, repeatedly pounding him on the ground. His claws were also elongated, burying into his head. The man could barely react through the pain and the swiftness of the attacks.

BANG!

BANG!

Baku's eyes reddened as the muscles on his arm hardened, to do one more powerfulful pound.

ROARRR!!

CRACK!

The force was so strong that the enemy's head actually separated from his body!

With the 'master' gone, the slaves' attack halted.

The elementalists gaped, realizing that other than a few bits of bloodied and singed fur, the half-orc was fine!

Were half-orcs' defense really that good? They knew they were far superior, but they were using elements which were known to have greater effects than normal physical attacks!

Although they were several levels lower than the half-orc, they had consumed all their mana during the earlier barrage. They thought they'd have done a bit of damage at least.

While this was actually a relief to them, they couldn't help but feel confused anyway.

What they didn't know was that alchemically improved armors—which Althea had assigned to Clutch very early on—had finally gained some success after so many months.

After so long, they had mastered it to the point that the wastage was minimal, with the succeeding product counted as superior Class D equipment.

Clutch did not upgrade because the main component, the solution, was in the Pharmacists, who in this case was Althea, who had inherited a useful skill from her master!

Using her new skill, the potion they integrated added extra defense against elementalists!

The process was cumbersome and expensive, however, so until now only the top-performing 500 guards had one.

Baku happened to be one of these guards.

Of course, the Basset slaves had no idea of this at all. All they could do was watch as the half-orc approached all of them, grabbing each of their heads.

BANG!

They were then thrown smack into the wall, finally losing consciousness—hopefully waking up later on when all of this was over.
