Chapter 1285: Pierced Through
"I'll catch you!" The level 30 yelled, continuously swinging and throwing the magic rope around, believing Baku would get caught eventually.
Once caught, no creature of certain levels escaped from this magic tool, after all!
However, to his surprise, Baku avoided it once and then twice with stupid movements that didn't fit his physique.
"What are you—"
The man got more and more impatient, with his teammates trying to throw in attack after attack, though few actually hit.
He was so big, how could he be so flexible!
Baku eventually got used to the enemy movement and pacing. After a careless and annoyed throw, Baku managed to get the timing right, grabbing the rope with a defensive glove so he could hold it without weakening himself.
"WHAT!" the man gasped when he realized the rope was stuck. He was confident in his rope-swinging skills, okay? Also, who bothers to give defense gloves to half-orcs?!
Anyway, Baku's physique was strong, so when he tugged at it, the man was immediately imbalanced.
Baku took advantage of the imbalance, and he grabbed the man's neck, immediately hurling him up the air, all while kicking down his teammates.
"AH!" the man screamed as he lost his footing. Things happened too fast, and he wasn't able to gather his bearings at all.
As he was in the air, a sentry arrow and a ballista bolt streaked in, embedding on him at the same time.
Baku didn't even watch this happen. As soon as he threw one of them, he rushed to deal with the other two, using the rope to control them in turn!
"WHA—"
"AH!"
"GAHH!"
ROAAARRR!
Using his remaining mana, he finally beheaded these enemies.
Without another breath, he quickly drank his last bottle of mana potion as he turned, flinching when he heard Maomao's yell.
Fortunately, the people at the battlement managed to send consecutive arrows at the enemies and pushed them back before they could hurt Maomao any further.
They obviously used a lot of mana to damage the enemy's equipment because a few arrows were embedded in their bodies. They were still alive though, and ready to fight back.
Baku headed there to help, but then he saw that Maomao was actually caught by one of their ropes! Instead of being angry, Baku laughed at her.
"Heh! Take that maomao! You dare laugh at me!" he yelled as he grabbed her enemies heads and dashed to the walls, smacking their face on it.
BANG!
Then he looked smugly at her.
Maomao: "..."
Was this really the time?!
…
Baku cleared out the remaining elites in the area, securing the other magic rope!
The Alterrans, while busy waving their weapons, saw this. "Wow, they really spent a lot here."
"Well, we have those ropes now." When Bart showed it off before, they were so jealous. Look at this now! They got two!
Of course, while they were chatting like this, they were naturally defending the walls. The enemies had taken advantage of a lot of things to get inside, so even while they were joking around like this, they were consuming mana every few seconds.
They also had to take care of some of the leaks the easement forces managed to hold back.
These were only level 20s so they could overpower them with numbers and their elements. The leaders did not even bother to defend themselves against their attacks!
The enemy's strategy was definitely to hunt down their Elders—especially the Lord. They knew that a lot of powerful guards would around them as well, so they really wanted absolute chaos within the wall before heading in.
They even found out (through some arrogant aborigine's yells) that the Basset Lord had promised that whoever would get the token would be the Steward and was entitled a portion of its income!
Jerks!
Delusional Jerks!
These were the thoughts the Alterrans fighting in the easements had as they beat up a good portion of the leaks.
The fight was led by Ryo. They had been guarding other locations of the territory but—after ensuring the people could handle the enemies there—they had to adjust and go there for backup.
Turocc was, unfortunately, gone, but they managed to hold back at least half of his people.
And they'd make sure that these bastards would know what it means to fight against Alterra!
…
Turocc did not waste time and just kicked away all those who blocked him. They did not even stay in the easements. He took advantage of their momentum and the current level difference to push away everyone in his way.
When they saw the colorful smoke burst out in their area, they knew that they had no time to waste!
And so, including Turocc, more than a hundred elite Basset Citizens and Mercenaries burst through the streets, going as fast as they could.
The enemy reacted quickly and blocked their way—blocking at least half of them—but it didn't matter. The goal was achieved!
Turocc divided the original hundreds into two so Killic's team could cause chaos elsewhere and divide the enemy forces.
By the time they entered the territory, then this war would begin!
And, by then, this damned place would be theirs!
...
In contrast with Turocc's successful—albeit hindered—entry, Killic's team had been stuck outside the walls for a while.
The old man sneered as he stared in front of him, glaring at the line of ice with spears pointing at them. Among these shrapnels, there were also a few that took human form.
And if one looked closer, one would see they really were humans once, and the look of terror they had on their faces would be forever frozen in time.
"Heh…" Killic said, appearing arrogant, but— internally—he was shaken.
They arrived at this 'weak spot' nearly half-an-hour prior. However, before they could reach the walls, powerful elements immediately descended upon them.
Some were lucky and had quick enough reflexes to avoid the attack, while others—as one could see in the ice—were not.
Such a powerful element!
Killic was old and had seen higher-level powerhouses use elements, but he had never seen such a dense amount of aether in an attack!
Who was this man!?
