Chapter 22 - Sickness (2)
Even the families of some maids, who were not born inside the mansion, would arrange for them to have a blind date on that day. If both families were satisfied, they would wait until the maids left the mansion to get married.
Those maids, who were born and raised in the mansion, had to serve their masters for generations. Although they were not as free as those born outside, they could often come in and out of the presence of nobles and were allowed to use some makeup. In addition to their own monthly money, these maids who had children also received rewards from their masters. They were richer than ordinary maids and were more willing to dress up.
Combining the two, if there was cheap and good lip balm, they would be willing to buy it.
An Yun could not help but breathe a sigh of relief when he heard Xiao Cui respond without hesitation, and then said, “Then what do you think about selling this lip balm to the maids in this mansion?”
Xiao Cui looked at An Yun, her eyes suddenly lit up, and then said, “Fulang, this is a good idea. Fulang, you are really smart.”
An Yun felt a little embarrassed by her praise. In fact, he was not that smart, but was taking shortcuts.
An Yun felt that he did not have any foundation at the moment. If he wanted to sell something, he could only sell it to individual customers. But individual customers might not be rich. If his things were sold too expensively, they might not be willing to take a look. After all, if things like lip balm were too expensive at retail stores on the roadside, it was better to go to a big store to buy them. Even if it was expensive, but in a big store, there was also quality and good hygiene.
When An Yun heard Xiao Cui’s words, he started to think twice. He looked up at Xiao Cui in front of him and said sincerely, “Xiao Cui, I’m afraid I have to ask you to do this.”
Xiao Cui was stared at by An Yun’s beautiful eyes. Her mind went blank for an instant. She could not say anything to refuse and could only nod her head in agreement. “If you need anything, fulang, just give me your instructions.”
If Xiao Cui could do it, she would go through fire and water without hesitation, as long as An Fulang told her so.
An Yun smiled, and his tone became gentler, “There is no need to be so serious, I just need you to help me take the lead and run an introduction.”
Xiao Cui was a little confused but still nodded heavily. No matter what the fulang asked her to do, she would do it well.
Soon, An Yun explained his plan to Xiao Cui, arranged what Xiao Cui had to do, and then watched Xiao Cui leave.
Looking at Xiao Cui’s disappearing back, An Yun lowered his eyes and looked at the remaining nineteen boxes of lip balm in his hand, hoping that everything would go smoothly.
After thinking about it, An Yun put away the lip balm and prepared to place it in a cool place. The sun had been strong recently, and he was afraid that if he left it outside, the things he had worked hard to make would be damaged by the sun.
Just as An Yun stood up, he staggered and suddenly felt a little dizzy. But soon, he realized he had not rested today and was a little exhausted.
“This body is really weak!”
An Yun did not pay much attention, complaining lowly, then took the things and placed them in the shade of the house before washing up and resting.
.
Upstairs, Zang Ya watched the interaction between An Yun and Xiao Cui, tapping the window gently with his fingers.
Zang Ya’s eyelashes lowered slightly, and finally, he sneered before standing up and going to the bookshelf to take out another historical book to read.
This was what Zang Ya usually liked to do when his mood fluctuated.
After all, Zang Ya was not always unable to control his emotions. Whether he could control his actions depended on whether he wanted to control them or not.
After quickly reading a record, making annotations on it, and laughing at the stupidity of his predecessors, Zang Ya raised his head and looked out the window. Stars were already hanging high outside.
He lowered his head and took another look. The lights in the little shuanger’s room had been turned off at some point, and he seemed to have fallen asleep.
Thinking of the little shuanger’s frail body, Zang Ya did not find it strange that he had fallen asleep so quickly.
Zang Ya felt the coolness in the air and noticed that the boredom he had just felt had subsided a lot. He turned to look at the sundial next to him and decided to go to bed.
Maybe once he woke up, his boredom would be relieved a lot.
However, Zang Ya underestimated An Yun’s influence on him. When he got up, his face was still a little irritable, and his mood was still unhappy.
So much so that when the maids who came to serve him saw Zang Ya’s expression, they all trembled with fear, fearing that they would offend the young master and be punished.
Until he finished breakfast, the irritation he felt from seeing An Yun and Xiao Cui getting close the day before had not subsided. It had even intensified due to the overnight fermentation.
Zang Ya felt uncomfortable because his pet was too close to others. This feeling was similar to that of a well-raised pet not getting close to him but instead kissing and nudging strangers. How could this make the owner happy?
Zang Ya was a person who wanted to make others unhappy whenever he felt the slightest bit uncomfortable. He wanted to suppress that emotion the day before because he felt his mind was being affected by a little pet, which made him feel annoyed at himself.
But after a good night sleep, Zang Ya’s inner irritability did not diminish but became more intense. So, he did not want to endure it anymore. He was unhappy and did not want others to be happy.
It was his right to deal with just a maid, so why should he restrain himself? It was obvious that she was just a little maid, so he could deal with her casually.
Zang Ya thought about it, his brows relaxing, and he opened his mouth to call someone. He wanted to tell Qing Yue to move the little maid who did not know her place to somewhere away from his pet.
However, before Zang Ya could call someone, there was a noise at the top of the stairs, as if someone was running very fast, and then a familiar voice came through the screen, “Young master, something happened at An Fulang’s place.”
Note
About the maids, some wealthy family, especially the noble family, usually bought slaves outside and trained them. These servants would be given another name with their master’s surname, so if they married someone, their children would be either servant or maid for that family. Their status as slaves wouldn’t change unless the master let them go.
