Chapter 7: Melody of Bloody Chaos
Raen stood atop a hill overlooking a valley shrouded in mist, his eyes gleaming with a dark glow, his hair swaying with the stormy winds. The world around him was eerily still, as if nature itself held its breath, awaiting what was to come. Deep within, he knew that his next step would change everything.
Within him resided the Black Butterfly, the entity that had become an extension of his soul, his pulse, and even his mind. With each passing day, this enigmatic spirit wove more power into him, but in return, it extinguished the last remnants of his humanity.
Its voice echoed in his thoughts. "This world is no longer your place, Raen. They took everything from you. Isn't it time to take your revenge?"
He clenched his fist, his glowing eyes darkening further. "The time for waiting is over."
Below, a small village lay nestled between towering cypress trees. Just another mark on the map of this merciless world. Since his own village was destroyed, Raen had known only one path—destruction.
He descended the hill with steady steps, each movement heralding something ominous. As he reached the village entrance, he paused for a moment, sensing the wary gazes watching him from behind old wooden windows.
An elderly man stepped out of a nearby hut, his wrinkled face tightening as he scrutinized Raen. "What do you want here? This village does not welcome strangers."
Raen stared at him coldly before slowly raising his hand. In an instant, black threads spread through the air, like strands of fate itself. "I'm not here for a welcome."
Before the man could react, darkness engulfed the area. Screams tore through the silence of the night, and in moments, the village descended into chaos. Raen did not hesitate. There was no mercy in his hands as he struck down all who stood before him.
He knew this was only the beginning. He took no pleasure in it, but he no longer cared. The world had chosen to make him a monster, and he would not disappoint.
When all was done, he stood amid the ruins, gazing up at the somber sky. The Black Butterfly whispered once more, "This is merely the start, Raen. The entire world will bow before you."
A faint, cold smile touched his lips as he turned away from the burning village. There was no room for mercy, no space for regret. He was walking the path of no return, and nothing could stop him.
He continued into the forest surrounding the village, ignoring the smoke rising behind him. Towering trees loomed ahead, like silent sentinels watching his every step. The sounds of the night began to fade, and the ground beneath his feet turned to damp soil.
Suddenly, he sensed rapid movement from the right. He halted without turning, listening to the sound of restrained breathing. He was not alone.
"It seems you're growing more ruthless by the day, Raen." A deep, familiar voice emerged from the shadows.
Raen turned slowly to find a man standing among the trees, his black cloak billowing in the wind, his eyes reflecting the moonlight.
"One of the Order's hounds?" Raen asked with detached indifference.
The man smirked and took a step forward. "More like someone who understands your true nature."
Raen said nothing. There was something different about this one—something unlike the other hunters the Order had sent after him.
"I have an offer for you," the man continued, unfazed by the smoldering corpse nearby. "Join us, and you'll gain true power."
Raen chuckled darkly. "True power? I need nothing but myself."
The man sighed before raising his hand. In an instant, tendrils of shadow lunged toward Raen with blinding speed.
But he didn't move. Instead, the Black Butterfly spread its wings within his soul, absorbing the attack as if it were nothing but a passing breeze.
"I expected more than this," Raen murmured before vanishing.
The man barely had time to react before he felt a cold hand wrap around his throat.
"Goodbye," Raen whispered, and in an instant, the man's body faded into nothingness, erased as if he had never existed.
Raen stood in silence, closing his eyes for a moment. "How many times will they try this?"
The Black Butterfly answered, "Until they realize that fate itself is in your hands."
