Chapter 30: A fox meets a Schnee
POV WEISS
So this is the boy who I have to convince, to be honest, seeing him felt like I was watching a big lie.
But I couldn't tell what it was, everything about him was real. His smile was real, his body language showed the truth of his kindness, and even his eyes showed no lie.
So what was it that was lying?
Seeing this, I couldn't help but be mad at him for this. I wanted to know what he was hiding, what he was lying about, but I couldn't pry the information out of him.
I had a job to do, so I had to hide my curiosity for another day. Once I had introduced myself, I saw that he bowed and placed his hand over his heart.
"It is an honor to meet you Weiss, and yes, it would be an honor to dance with you." He said with a bright smile.
Hearing his calming voice, I couldn't help but feel like I was surrounded by warmth. Something that felt like I was being comforted, and I like it.
He then stretched his hand in my direction and waited for me, I was hesitant at first, since I only interacted with my servants, or my father.
But I soon placed my hand on top of his, the second I touched his hand on mine, I felt warmth.
I felt like I was holding my mothers hand, when she used to smile, when she would be by my side when I cried.
"Weiss, are you alright?" Aiko asked me with concern in his voice, I coughed silently and looked away, nodding my head.
"Y-yes, I'm fine, c-can we go dance?" I asked, I was surprised at myself for stuttering, I was taught to speak with a confident voice, to show I wasn't afraid, yet, in front of this boy.
I was nervous, shy, and a stuttering mess. But Aiko didn't seem fazed at all, he gently guided me to the dance floor and held his arms around me.
One on my shoulder, and one on my waist. As the music played in the background, I began to follow his lead.
I expected him to not know how to dance, I even prepared myself for the pain I was going to feel.
But it never came, he was able to follow the beat of the music. Guiding me along the dance floor with ease, spinning me at the correct time, and even adjusting little errors I had made.
The surrounding began to fade, and all o could see was a memory of me and my family, smiling happy on my birthday.
It was the happiest memory I had, where we were happy. I could feel myself reliving it, blowing out the candles, and even giggling.
But the memory ended, Aiko was bowing in front of me with a kind smile. I couldn't help but blush when seeing him smile at me, but a smile formed on my lips.
"T-thank you, f-for dancing with me." Aiko smiled and began to walk back to his group, and soon, the cold returned.
I shivered when I felt the warmth leaving me, but I didn't force myself to go after him. He's a Faunus, and I'm a human, it would cause trouble for father.
Once he left, most of the boys approached me and wanted to have a conversation with me.
But it was different, they didn't show any care for me, didnt want to get to know me. Only asking if I was harmed.
I ignored them all and continued to stare at Aiko, he was smiling at the people, even if they saw him as an animal, he showed respect.
He was perfect, the manners, how he danced, and how warm he felt. He was like…
A prince.
He smiled at the people, even if they insulted him. He was surrounded by warmth, pushing the cold away to keep others warm.
I didn't even notice I was approaching him, only then when I grabbed his hand, did I realize what I did.
The three girls that accompanied him looked at me in surprise, seeing me holding his sleeve.
"Can we help you?" Asked the woman in black, seeing her, her eyes were narrowed. I suddenly couldn't speak, since she was glaring at me.
"Sienna, we are guests here." The now named woman, Sienna sighed and bowed.
"Apologize, we have been speaking with the humans for too long and had to deal with some 'unpleasant' ones." Sienna said with a frown on her face.
She then looked behind me, and looking at the people who wanted to approach them. When I turned to look back, they all quickly looked away.
"I see, you don't need to worry now. Since I shall accompany you all for the rest of the celebration." I said in a somewhat loud shout.
Hearing me say this, I saw some of the groups tensed at my words. They all then narrowed their eyes and walked a bit further away from us.
They all sighed at what happened and soon relaxed, I smiled at how relaxed they became and decided to strike a conversation with Aiko.
"S-so, why are you here?" Hearing my question, Aiko turned to his companions, and sister, and soon turned back to me.
"We are here to let the people know, that we want to be equals, not treated harshly." I wasn't surprised by this, since here in atlas, they are truly treated harshly.
Low wage income, harassment, abuse, just to name a few problems they face today. I wanted to tell them to not go, that it was a waste of their time.
But when I opened my mouth, I said something that I didn't expect to come out of my mouth.
"I wish you good luck then, I hope the people of Atlas can listen." I said and gripped the edge of my dress.
I could feel my face heating from what I said, I didn't know what to do next. I was scared that Aiko may reject my words, but he held my hand in a gentle manner and smiled.
"Thank you, Weiss, I hope the people will listen to us as well. I hope we can be great friends." His sister soon appeared in front of me and bowed as well.
"I-I hope we can be great friends." Hearing her whisper those words, I couldn't help it but find her adorable.
"Yes, I hope we can be great friends." I replied, before we could continue to talk, one of the boys stood in between us.
"Miss Weiss, don't get close to them, they may have fleas." Said the boy, who glared at Aiko.
Looking at him, I could tell he was one of the more hardcore believers, but that didn't faze Aiko in the slightest.
"Please, we were having a nice chat, it's rude to interrupt a conversation." I said to the boy, hearing me say that, he tried to shrug off my words and grabbed my hand.
"It is necessary if I can take you away, please, allow me." He said and tried to drag me away, I tried to resist at first, but he was being stubborn.
"L-let me go, you're hurting me." But the boy was persistent, trying to drag me away.
Before he could continue, a hand gripped his wrist, yanking his hand away. The boy tried to see who it was, but stopped when he saw Aiko.
However, the warmth I felt disappeared, and what remained was the chilling cold. I began to shiver from the look he gave to the boy, his eyes narrowed, his pupils narrowed into slits, and even his frown was cold.
"I apologize for my behavior, but trying to drag a pretty girl is more rude than insulting someone." He said, I was surprised at what he was doing, was he not scared?
"L-let me go, d-do you know who I am?" Said the boy, but Aiko let go and smiled.
"Not a Xian-xian character, that's for sure." He muttered, the people around us were confused on what he meant, but the boy just shook his head and pointed at him.
"You are such an insufferable creature, I challenge you to a dual!" The people surrounding us gasped and Aiko widened his eyes.
"Never mind then, I guess you are one." My father then appeared between the two, and he had a smile on his face.
"Ah, it seems the party is just getting started, shall we take this to the training area then?" The people began to agree with my father, wanting to see the humiliation to Aiko.
But he was unfazed and had a smile on his face, he nodded his head, but not before coughing into his hand.
"Yes?" My father asked, Aiko motioned for him to lean down, and he whispered something into his ear.
After a few seconds, my father widens his eyes in shock, which then turned into fury, which finally turned to a calm look.
"Well then, off we go, the battle shall commence!" He exclaimed, and multiple guests began to make there way to the room.
I quickly rushed up to him and held his hands, concerned appeared in my eyes and I was about to ask him on why he accepted.
But before I could say anything, he held my hands and patted it. He smiled at my concern and began to make his way to the battle ground, his group follows behind him, but not before Sienna stopped.
"You don't have to worry about anything kid, he'll be fine." She then continued to make her way towards the room with a calm look.
I snapped out of my confusion and began tu run behind them, catching up to the Faunus group.
"What do you mean by that?" Sienna only smiled while shaking her head and patted my hair.
Causing a few strands to come loose, I wanted to smack her hand away. But I saw her intentions were kind, so I refrained myself from doing so.
"Just wait and see, you'll understand." After walking for a few more minutes, we arrived at a large traing ground, the four of us made our way to the stands to observe what's down below.
On one side is the boy, holding a sword in his hands. The design is odd, since the guard has two barrels sticking out of the side.
I knew it was a mechashift weapon, but it was a poor choice. Aiko on the other hand had nothing, he just stood their without the double breasted vest.
Only with the dress shirt and tie, the sleeves were rolled up. I was about to ask what Aiko was doing, but I then saw something slithering down his arm.
It was a semi liquid substance, he gripped one end of it, and whiped the other hand. A loud crack was heard, causing most of the audience to flinch.
"Aiko you sick bastard." Sienna said with a smile.
I was confused on why she said that, but I returned my focus on the fight. Aiko flicked his wrist a few more times, causing multiple cracks to sound.
"So, shall we get this fight started?" He said with a cold smile on his face, the boy was hesitant at first, seeing the whip in his hand.
"You know what, I'm feeling generous today." Aiko then rolled up the whip and placed his hands behind his back.
"I'll let you have ten free hits, if you can strike me once, I forfit." The entire audience was surprised, even the boy himself.
But he soon shook his head and began to rush at him with the sword. As he was approaching, Aiko stood still.
My worries kept growing as the boy got closer, close to getting hit, I wanted to shout at him to dodge.
The boy had the sword raised and was about to strike him, but all Aiko did was take a side step.
"That's one." The boy then stood up and tried again, only this time he went underhand. As the sword rose from the ground, Aiko took a step back and leaned back a bit.
The blade was a few inches away, but it still missed him. But the boy didn't stop there, with the momentum he had, he spun his body around to try and slash him from the side.
Aiko only knelt down on his knees, only to tie a loos shoe lace he had on his shoe. Seeing this, the boy tried to strike him while he was distracted, but Aiko rolled to the side.
"That makes four, six strikes left." The boy began to swing more wildly, passing the ten strike mark.
"Hey now, you already had ten strikes." He said with a frown, still dodging the attacks.
The people were cheering for the boy to at least hit Aiko once, but no matter how much he swung, Aiko dodged them all.
"Well then, it's my turn." He unfurled the whip and began to spin it above him, the whip soon unfurled to its full length, and he stood in the center of the spiral.
"Time to discipline a child." He then sent the whip at the boy, smacking him on the arm. He screamed in pain and dropped the sword.
Aiko then began to send more strikes at the poor boy, actually, I take that back, the boy deserved it for being an ass.
After a few more seconds of whipping, the boy was curled up into a ball. Sniffling and begging for him to stop.
Aiko did so and bowed at both sides, and bega on to walk away, leaving the parents of the boy embarrassed, and the rest of the people silent.
"Oh the irony, but I won't say I don't hate it." Sienna said with a grin on her face.
I think I might enjoy his company, since he made me happy. And I hope he continues to do so.
After all, I think I found my prince.
