Chapter 122: News
Atlas: "..." Typical wife move! Who was the one screaming like a shrewd just a few minutes before?
Ivy coughed lightly to hide the slight smile forming on her lips. Compared to chaos outside, it could be seen that Atlas and Elani were living a relatively good life.
"Thank you, but my answer is still no. I still have some work, so I will finish this transaction first." Ivy explained, causing the husband and wife to finally stop bickering.
Elani heaved a sigh of relief when she noticed that Ivy didn't have any intention of making things difficult for them, and at the same time, she decided to teach her daughter a good lesson! Because of her nonsensical news-reading skills, she almost offended a big client today.
Their daughter: "..." But why? I didn't even do anything!
The little episode passed just like that. After completing her transaction, Ivy left with her products. Her next step was to continue with her cultivation of superpower, so that she could protect her base when the time came.
Hence, she hunted more zombies to the point that Elani, Atlas, and other boydguards were in awe of her. She cleared up all the zombies around the warehouse.
Returning to the apartment, she noticed Silas who had already cooked her dinner and was staring at the empty seat at the dining table with a deep look.
The moment he sensed her presence, he tried to put up a smile, but failed miserably. It was clear that something was haunting him.
Ivy's eyes flashed with worry, "What happened? Is something bugging you?"
Silas was not the least bit surprised by the fact that Ivy sensed the changes in his mood. Scarlett may express that she admires him, but other than his parents and sister, only Ivy was the one who could perceive his mood.
"Nothing much. You should have dinner first." Silas advised, he knew whatever he was going to say might make Ivy lose her mood to eat.
Though worried, Ivy followed Silas's advice and ate the dinner. Once she placed the spoon down, Silas washed up the dishes and returned to the dining table. By then, Ivy had cleaned up the table and was waiting for him.
"I have got some good news and some bad news. Which one would you like to listen to first?" Silas asked, though he tried to soften the atmosphere by speaking gently, the question itself tensed Ivy a lot.
"Bad," Ivy muttered, her breath. She appeared calm and collected as if no news could shatter her confidence.
"Damian has become powerful beyond our control. Capturing him is a bit difficult. And he seemed to have found a different method of cultivation… something related to human flesh. Even his current state… from my source seems to have become… a bit concerning." Silas explained softly.
Though he knew that Ivy had long ago let go of her obsession with getting loved by the Ravencroft family, he was still uncertain if she would like to hear that her brother…
Honestly, Silas was putting everything lightly. The truth was, when Silas's connections saw Damian, he looked a bit demonized.
His eyes were completely black, while blood was seeping out of his mouth, and under his translucent skin, black veins were pulsing.
It was terrifying, and though the scene had only happened for a few seconds, before he returned to his normal appearance and leapt away, it was enough to scare the people who saw the scene.
Ivy, after hearing the news, was silent. From her memories, she couldn't recall Damian consuming human flesh.
In her previous life, he used to be absent for two to three days a month, but she never thought he had become a cannibal. Was it some kind of side effect of his increasing power? That was more like it. But what concerned her was…
"How powerful has he become?" Ivy asked, her brows furrowed.
"From sources, if there was a level system, he must be at level 2," Silas recalled the information and then looked at her tentatively, "In fact, there was another matter, your brother seemed to be after a strange kind of herbs, and he is even collecting corpses."
"Eh?" Ivy was befuddled, completely blindsided by the sudden surge of information. In her previous life, the Ravencroft family's torture consumed her for half of the time, hence she never saw anything strange about Damian…
At least from her perspective, Damian had never done such things, or did he? It was a mystery to her.
"Do you want me to fetch him?" Silas asked cautiously. He knew it would be a bit difficult to do so, but for Ivy, he was ready to even enter the netherworld.
"No. Let him be. If possible, can you make it difficult for him to obtain resources? If he can't be killed, don't let him become powerful." Ivy requested. Her decisive answer surprised and delighted Silas.
"Alright." Silas, then he paused and looked at Ivy, "As for Helena and Victor Nightbane, I have some news too."
Mother and father? Ivy's eyes brightened, and she straightened up. "What news?"
"Some of my men had last seen them in Country M. Though it's a bit difficult to get to know their exact location in three months, we can get the general location by the end of the third month," Silas answered, his eyes stared at the dazzling beauty whose eyes seemed to be glittering and his heart skipped a beat.
Ivy's heart skipped a beat. Country M? That was far away from Country U. Though she was anxious and wanted to fly to Country M right away, the reality was brutal.
After the apocalypse, gaining news about loved ones was as difficult as trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Not to mention, without knowing her parents' faces, numbers, or proper coordinates, finding her parents in Country M might take her a year.
With Silas's connections, she might be able to reunite with them within the upcoming 6 months.
