Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 114: Vanilla

Silas didn't agree right away. Instead, he continued to inquire, "Tell me the amount and what type of medicine do you want?"

If possible, he wanted to use his own connection to get the medicine instead of troubling Ivy. What if the medicine stock that Ivy had handed him was the last batch? If he requested medicine, then… wasn't he putting her in a difficult situation?

What if this were one of the other malicious moves that his family was planning to separate Ivy from him?

Silas couldn't be blamed for suspecting these things. The Blackthorn family indeed had a black history in this case.

Talia could read Silas's thoughts from his face and felt speechless. This… though she wanted to harshly retort, she could only swallow back the words and say patiently,

"It's one of my connections. They are ready to pay whatever amount Ivy wishes. Hundreds of people's lives are on line…"

Silas frowned, though he felt a subtle sympathy for all of them; placing hopes on Ivy for such matters was nothing short of troubling her.

He was innocent to think that by hundreds of people, Talia meant just 700 or so people. It must be 70,000 or so.

And he was indeed correct in his estimation because the next second, Talia continued, "There are 85,000 or so people."

Silas frowned and replied, "I will ask her, but please don't all hope on her and the price…"

Talia immediately vowed, "I will make sure to get her a fair price. And I will not pressure her."

Then her eyes softened as she lowered her hand, "I know… this time if it wasn't for her help, the Blackthorn family might have been kicked out of the military and worse… our reputation would have been sullied by that b*stard."

Talia saw things clearly than others. Ivy's changes made her a bit hopeful. Earlier, when Ivy submitted those 1000 crystals, she felt her dislike dissipate a little.

On sparring with Ivy, her dislike transformed a little bit into likeness, and her opposition to Ivy and Silas getting together reduced significantly.

But today Ivy's help truly touched her heart. Maybe in the future, Ivy won't hold much value and may even become a burden to them, but her action of taking out medicine and donating it made her admire Ivy a bit.

If Ivy wanted, she could have easily hoarded the medicine and sold it at a higher price to them. Instead, she helped them. This proved how selfless she was.

And though she didn't want to admit it… she indeed wished to see Ivy and Silas together soon.

'No! What are you thinking? You are absolutely against it!' Talia chided herself while her cold face didn't betray her thoughts at all.

"Alright." Silas heaved a sigh of relief. He could see the sincerity in his sister's eyes, and his heart softened.

Daniel remained silent all the while. He could see how Talia's attitude toward Ivy had softened, and his eyes flashed with disapproval.

A leopard doesn't change its spots. And he believed this proverb quite a lot. His face turned dark, and he was about to intervene when…

"Alright then, old man, to show your gratitude, shouldn't you give me 100 bottles of vanilla essence? My love might crave ice cream soon."

Silas knew about Ivy's upcoming period and how she would crave ice cream. It just happened that her favorite flavor was vanilla, and he knew how to make homemade ice cream.

Since his family member has hoarded many vanilla essence bottles, it was only natural to take those back for his wifey who had made such a great contribution.

Daniel: (⊙_⊙) What? Am I hearing things?

"What did you say?" With disbelief in his voice, Daniel asked, his eyes widening as he stared at his unfilial son.

"Just what you heard. 100 vanilla essence bottles. I can give you 20kg of meat in return. This is according to market price." Silas said with a nonchalant expression.

Daniel gritted his teeth and slammed his hand on the table, "I will not give a single vanilla essence to you! Especially if you are taking it for that wild girl!"

"Alright then, I can only rob you." Silas shrugged with a helpless expression. He, too, didn't want to oppose his father all the time, but what to do even after posting his query for vanilla essence, no one came forward with any genuine offer.

At last, he remembered how he had helped his old father hoard many bottles of vanilla essence. 100 bottles weren't much, so he expected the old man to fuss a little and eventually hand it over to him. Who would have thought that the old man would become so furious?

After a lot of back and forth, the old man, aka Daniel, could only watch in despair as Silas left with a whistle.

He regretted it. If only he had spanked his younger child even more, maybe Silas wouldn't have turned so rebellious!

Talia was amused. She knew that Daniel wasn't upset about losing 100 vanilla essence bottles. He was upset because Ivy would enjoy those essences in the end.

Her father… truly couldn't tolerate Ivy at all. And it was because of Scarlett. Without comparison, there was no harm, but with Scarlett in the picture, Ivy indeed seemed to be lacking.

.........…

Silas, after leaving the meeting room, didn't leave the military compound. Instead, he made a beeline to the military doctor's camp and, on reaching there, he announced,

"I would like everyone's attention, please."

His loud and authoritative voice attracted everyone's attention. "Soon you will receive medicine for typhoid fever and giardiasis."

Hearing his words, a wave of cheer and applause echoed in the tent.

"What? I thought the medicine was stolen and couldn't be retrieved at all!"

"Me too. I was even thinking of buying it from some other channel."

"I heard everything was blamed on the Blackthorn Family?"

"Shh! I got to know that it wasn't Blackthorn Family, and yet they were blamed. The chances of medicine being retrieved are almost zero."
