Last Chapter: Chapter 14

Kai stood firm, though struggling to stop himself from being sent flying. He covered his face with his arm, as though helping, his grip on his duel disk tightened, a look of determination etched on his face. Red-Eyes Black Dragon roared fiercely, moving in front of Kai, as if protecting his master. "Come at me with everything you've got, Yuya," Kai declared, his voice unwavering. "If that's the only way to pull you back from this, then I'll take it."

Yuzu's heart raced, her stomach churning with unease. She could feel the tension in the air, the fight for Yuya's soul hanging by a thread. "Yuya, please..." she whispered, though the words barely escaped her lips over the roaring wind.

Yoko, still trembling, turned to Yuzu, worry clouding her features. "This isn't just a duel anymore. This is something else. Something Yuya's... really hurting."

Yuzu clenched her fists, her eyes locked on Yuya, her voice barely audible over the wind's howls. "Please, Yuya, you can still come back from this." Her words felt like a fragile hope in the face of the raging storm Yuya had become.

But the only response was the dark, echoed growl of his voice, the wind picking up and sending gusts through the room.

"Odd-Eyes will never be forgotten…" Yuya's eyes flared with an unyielding fire. "You'll see, Kai. You'll regret this."

It was chaos on all sides!!

Chapter 15: Hidden Emotions Part 4

Flashback

Yuto's monster turned into bright lights, entering into the dark ominous circle as he started his chant. "Cloaked in Shadows and Relentless in its objections! I summon the most dangerous monster of them all! I xyz summon! Dark Rebellion xyz Dragon!!"

Dark Rebellion xyz Dragon Rank 4 (ATK 2500/DEF 2000)

A deafening roar filled the battlefield as a monstrous figure emerged, its body cloaked in jagged, obsidian-like armor that seemed to absorb the surrounding light. Its piercing purple eyes glowed with malevolent intensity, exuding an aura of unrelenting power. Two massive wings, sharp and angular like blades, spread wide, creating gusts of wind that sent shockwaves through the field. Electric arcs danced along the dragon's sleek, armored body as it hovered above the ground, radiating dominance.

Twin orbs of dark energy orbited around its chest, pulsating like beating hearts. The dragon's claws, razor-sharp and glowing faintly with violet energy, flexed as if itching to tear through anything in its path. A single beat of its wings caused the vortex to dissipate, leaving only silence and the dragon's overpowering presence.

It was just like before. The energy being generated from the monster was incredible. The monster roared like it was the embodiment of Yuto's anger as his eyes strangely turned red.

"I'm going to destroy you!" Yuto shouted in rage.

At You Show duel school

Sora, Tate, Allie, Fredrick and Yuya stepped out of the You Show Duel School, the door creaking shut behind them like a reluctant warning. The sky above churned with heavy gray clouds, pregnant with an unspoken threat, as a bitter wind whispered through the alleyways. The once-vivid banners fluttering outside the school hung limp and lifeless, their colors dulled under the overcast gloom. Raindrops began to pepper the pavement, their erratic rhythm echoing an uneasy tension.

The kids, however, seemed to be unaware of this change in atmosphere, as they prepared their journey back to each others home.

"Man, that training session was sweet," Sora declared with a wide grin, stretching his arms high above his head as if reaching for the stormy heavens.

Yuya, however, didn't share his enthusiasm. His shoulders slumped, and a faint scowl tugged at his face. "Yeah, maybe for you…" he muttered under his breath.

"Aaaw, is somwodey sad they lossey lossey?" Sora teased, his voice dripping with playful mockery as he tilted his head, a mischievous grin stretching across his face. His tone was high-pitched and exaggerated, as if savoring every moment of the taunt. His eyes sparkled with a mix of amusement and challenge, clearly enjoying pushing Yuya's buttons."

Yuya shot him a sharp glare, his frustration bubbling beneath the surface. "Don't start, Sor—"

Before Yuya could finish, he froze mid-sentence, clutching his chest as a sharp, unnatural pain tore through him. His breath hitched, and his vision blurred, the edges tinged with an ominous darkness.

"Yuya?" Allie's voice trembled, breaking through the tense atmosphere. She took a cautious step forward, her concern evident.

Yuya staggered backward, his knees buckling as a sinister energy began to swirl around him. The once-erratic rain intensified, pelting down in relentless sheets as the distant thunder grew louder, closer. His eyes flickered with a malevolent light, shifting into an eerie shade of gold.

"Sora... Allie... stay back!" Yuya growled, his voice distorted, an unnatural blend of his own and something far darker. His body trembled as his hand reached for his duel disk instinctively, the energy around him thickening.

"What's going on?" asked Sora, alarmed, his usual carefree demeanor replaced with genuine worry as he watched Yuya stumble.

Yuya's hands clutched at his temples, his breathing ragged and shallow. "My… head…" he sputtered, his voice strained as though he was wrestling with an invisible force trying to overpower him.

"Are you having a headache?" Sora blurted out, his concern quickly undercut by the absurdity of his question.

The other three turned to glare at him in disbelief. "What kind of headache would cause this?" Allie snapped, her voice tinged with irritation as she gestured to Yuya, who had fallen to his knees, his entire body trembling.

"I don't know. The really bad ones?" Sora offered, shrugging helplessly.

"Not even the really bad headaches make someone collapse, clutching their head in agony," Tate countered, his tone exasperated as the rain began to drench them.

Yuya let out a guttural groan, his head snapping up. His eyes, once filled with warmth and determination, now gleamed with an unnatural gold, sending a chill through the group. The air around them felt heavier, oppressive, as if it mirrored the darkness creeping into Yuya's heart.

"He's… changing," Allie whispered, her voice barely audible over the roaring wind and rain.

"We need to do something!" Sora shouted; his earlier confusion replaced by urgency.

"Do what?!" Tate shot back, his voice cracking under the weight of the situation. "This isn't something we can fix!"

The four kids, just stared at Yuya helplessly, unaware of the turmoil that was taking place inside Yuya's head.

Inside Yuya's head

In a dark room, full of water everywhere, revealed Yuya, crouched on all fours and staring blankly at his reflection in the water. Though what he saw wasn't him. It was a demon.

"Hee-hee, I quite enjoy watching you suffer," came a voice from the darkness, chilling and sinister, dripping with malice. "I think I'll have my fill of some more joy before I take over your body. Revenge on one of those annoying pests sounds far more satisfying before I claim my rightful place to rule over this world."

The words echoed unnaturally, as though they resonated not just in the air but in the very core of the onlookers' beings. The voice carried a malevolence so pure that it felt suffocating, like a weight pressing down on their souls.

Before anyone could react, the air in front of the still-crouching, soulless Yuya began to distort. Tendrils of shadow curled and writhed like living things, weaving together until they formed a figure. It was humanoid only in the vaguest sense, an entity composed of pure darkness that seemed to consume the light around it. Its form was undefined, shifting and warping as if it refused to be bound by the rules of physical existence.

The figure had no face, no discernible features, yet its presence was undeniably menacing. It radiated a cold, oppressive aura, as though it existed solely to instill dread. It loomed over Yuya, its shadow stretching unnaturally long across the rain-soaked ground.

"My vessel," the dark figure muttered, its voice a smooth, chilling whisper, as it observed Yuya with malicious intent. It didn't need to touch him—its influence was already sinking deep, taking root in his fragile state of mind. A twisted smile spread across the figure's shifting, shadowy form, as it began to weave its words with precision, each one designed to tear apart the trust Yuya had in his own heart.

As Yuya's breath came in ragged bursts, the figure's voice continued, laced with venom. "The man you think of as a brother… is not who you think he is. Kai... he is not your ally. He is their puppet."

Yuya's gaze wavered, his mind still struggling to comprehend the force warping his thoughts. The figure raised its hand, and with a wave, the shadows around them began to shift, morphing into images, haunting and undeniable.

It flashed images into Yuya's brain as he explained, Duel Academy and the different dimensions. First, the scene shifted: a darkened alley, the echoes of helpless cries filling the air. There, standing tall and cold, was Kai. His eyes were void of emotion as he held out a duel disk to a terrified figure. A single flash of light—then nothing. The figure collapsed, vanished from existence, reduced to a card. The cruel act was carried out with mechanical precision, as if it meant nothing.

"Kai," Yuya whispered, his voice breaking, "he... he wouldn't…"

The figure's grin deepened, its voice purring like a serpent's hiss. "Doesn't that look familiar, Yuya? He cards them. He does their bidding. Just another pawn in the game of Duel Academy. People's lives, their dreams… erased, just like that."

The shadows shifted again. This time, the image that appeared was of a quiet street corner, a figure trembling in fear before a cold, calculating Kai. He was there, once again, taking orders without hesitation, destroying yet another innocent, just as the figure had claimed. A dark, shadowy dragon, hung above Kai as it raged upon the innocent. However, this dragon was different than any of the ones Yuya has seen. This one massive, like a supreme dark being, reining judgment on the helpless.

"Is this the brother you trust?" the figure crooned. "Is this who you've spent so much time believing in?"

"No," Yuya gasped, shaking his head, but the figure wasn't done.

The darkness thickened, swirling faster until another vision formed in front of him, vivid and impossible to deny. This time, the scene was different—it was a battle, a duel between Kai and Yuto, two figures locked in a desperate contest. But the shadows in the image didn't focus on the cards they played, or the tension of the duel—it focused on something far more devastating.

In the vision, Kai, his expression cold and unforgiving, stood towering over Yuto, but it was his words that left a scar. "Yuzu is mine. Stay out of my way," he declared, his voice cutting through the air like a blade.

Yuya felt his heart stop. The image zoomed in on Yuto, struggling, his desperation evident as he fought to keep Yuzu safe. And in the background, there was Kai again—an expression of possessive arrogance on his face, his intent to take Yuzu away from Yuya clear as day.

"Look at him," the figure whispered, its voice dark and twisted with triumph. "This is the man you want to call your brother? The one who will do anything to get what he wants, even if it means taking away the person you care about most."

Yuya's knees buckled, the weight of the images crushing him from every side. His mind was a storm, his thoughts scattered and broken as the figure's words wormed deeper. His breath hitched in his chest, the rising panic making it hard to think, to breathe. The betrayal was so vivid, so cruel, it felt like it was being etched into his very soul.

"Kai..." Yuya choked out, his voice barely above a whisper, trembling with disbelief. "No... He wouldn't..."

"Yes," the figure coaxed, its voice now a low, soothing whisper. "He would. He has. And he will again. He's no better than the monsters who control him. You've always been blind, Yuya. But now… now you see him for what he truly is."

The shadows around them seemed to pulse with a dark energy, as the figure leaned in closer. "You can still save yourself. Don't cling to a brother who will only bring you pain. You have power, Yuya. You don't need him. You can be stronger than he ever was."

Yuya's vision blurred, his heart torn between the image of the brother he thought he knew and the cold, heartless man in the shadows. His breath came quicker, his mind spinning, and for a brief, fleeting moment, it felt like he was on the edge of falling into a darkness that would swallow him whole.

But before he could respond, the figure's grip tightened, its voice hissing in his ear. "Choose, Yuya. Now."

"NOOOO GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!"

Back in the real world, stood the four kids towering above the still crouching Yuya. They where starting to get worried... really worried.

"I'm going to destroy you!" Yuya shouted in rage. "By using one overlay unit, I can activate Dark Rebellions effect. I can half your monsters attack points and add them unto mine. Go! Treason Discharge!" Yuto said, his voice rusty and full of malice. Lightning erupted from the monster's wings as it lunged forward at mine wrapping itself around it.

"But why stop there, when I can do it again! Go Dark Rebellion, drain his monster of his power with Treason Discharge!"

"Now I shall finally get my revenge! Dark rebellion attack Kai directly." Yuto shouted.

The monsters on the field surged forward, their eyes glowing with malice, as they barreled toward their opponent. With a roar, one of Kai's summoned beasts charged, its massive form crashing down upon Yuto's dragon. The impact was devastating. The dragon shattered into pieces with a blinding flash, vanishing into nothingness.

"Kai!!" Yuzu screamed from behind him as the monsters disappeared.

Yuya stood still, his eyes fixed on Kai, who shielded Yuzu from the destruction—destruction that he himself had caused. The words echoed relentlessly in Yuya's mind: 'Yuzu is mine. Stay out of my way.'

'Yuzu is mine. Stay out of my way.'

Yuya's hands shook, tears streaming down his face as he struggled for control. He couldn't tear his gaze away from the man he once called brother, now standing cold and merciless.

"AAAAURRRRGHHH!!!" Yuya screamed, his body wracked with agony as the darkness inside him pushed harder for dominance.

The battle between Yuya/Yuto and Kai continued until-

"I activate dragon knight of creation's effect. By sending it and one card in my hand to the grave I can special summon a dragon monster from the graveyard. I took the dragon out from the graveyard and looked at it. Memories of my childhood time with it flooded inside me as I smiled, happy at the thought of being able to play it again. "By the will of the heavens, I call forth the mighty one. From the depths of the eternal abyss, the Dragon of Kings arises.

With wings of flame and scales of steel, making its debut in this deck, i summon thee, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand,"

Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand LV8 (ATK 2800/2800)

"With felgands effect I banish your Ark dragon in your graveyard and my dragon gains 500attack points." Felgrand roared as it rose up in power.

As Ark Rebellion Xyz Dragon vanished from the field, Yuya stood motionless, his gaze blank as if waking from a fog. Slowly, his eyes flicked to his surroundings, where Sora, Tate, Frederick, and Allie stood a short distance away, their faces pale with concern. Their expressions looked as if they'd just seen a ghost—or something worse.

"Yuya?" Sora called hesitantly, breaking the silence. "Are you... okay?"

Yuya blinked at him, confused. "What happened?"

"You mean you don't remember?" Tate asked, stepping forward slightly. "That... whatever that was? You were clutching your head, screaming like you were in pain!"

Yuya's hand instinctively went to his temple as fragments of memory began to surface. Flashes of anger, an overwhelming force inside him—it all came rushing back, and a sharp sting pierced through his mind. He winced, the emotion in his eyes flickering briefly to something darker before he forced it away.

"I..." Yuya began, but then shook his head quickly and gave an awkward chuckle. "It's nothing. I'm fine, really."

"Fine?" Allie pressed, her worry clear. "Yuya, you were acting... weird. Like, really weird."

Yuya raised his hands in mock surrender, trying to deflect their concern. "I appreciate it, guys, but I'm okay. Just a little... tired, that's all."

The four kids exchanged skeptical glances but didn't push further.

Yuya glanced away, his expression turning serious for the briefest moment before softening again. "Actually, I just remembered—I've got somewhere I need to be. Don't worry about me, all right? I'll see you later!"

Without waiting for a response, Yuya turned on his heel and hurried off, leaving the group standing there, stunned and unsure of what to say.

"Yeah, he's totally fine," Sora muttered sarcastically, crossing his arms.

"Not even close," Tate replied, frowning.

End Flashback

Abandoned Building

Shay and Yuma stood nearby, their faces etched with worry as they watched Yuto crouched on the ground, clutching his head in agony.

"AAAAUUURRGHH!" Yuto screamed, his voice raw with pain, echoing through the tense air.

Shay and Yuma exchanged anxious glances, the tension between them palpable.

"Yuto!" Shay called out, stepping closer but stopping short, unsure of what to do. "What's going on? Talk to us!"

Yuto's trembling form suddenly jerked as he shouted, his voice desperate and defiant. "NO!! YUMA IS NOT MY ENEMY!!! I WON'T HURT HIM!!"

Yuma's eyes widened, and he took a step forward. "Yuto, it's me! I'm right here! You're not alone—whatever this is, we'll get through it together!"

But Yuto didn't seem to hear him, his mind battling something far greater, something dark and overwhelming. Shay's fists clenched, his voice firm despite the unease in his eyes.

"Yuto, snap out of it! You're stronger than this—don't let it win!"

Yuto's screams echoed again, his struggle consuming him as Shay and Yuma stood helpless, desperate to reach their friend before it was too late.

Suddenly, a blinding flash of light erupted from Yuto's deck. The three froze, watching as a card shot out of the deck, glowing with an otherworldly energy. It streaked into the sky, disappearing into the horizon like a comet.

Shay and Yuma stood in stunned silence, their wide eyes fixed on the empty spot where the card had been. Yuto's heavy breathing began to slow as he visibly calmed, the pain in his expression easing.

"What the hell was that?!" Shay demanded, his voice sharp with disbelief.

"Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon," Yuto said, his voice still ragged from exhaustion. He didn't need to look to know what had just left his deck.

Shay blinked, shaking his head. "Your Xyz monster? That's impossible! Cards don't just—don't just fly away!"

"I don't know how or why," Yuto admitted, forcing himself to stand upright, his hand gripping his chest. "But whatever's happening… it's not normal."

Yuma's gaze hardened, his usual carefree demeanor replaced with a seriousness that sent a chill through the air. "One thing's for sure," he said, his voice steady and resolute. "This all leads back to Kai."

Shay's head snapped toward Yuma. "Kai? You're saying he's behind this?"

Yuma nodded, his fist tightening at his side. "I don't know what he's planning, but it's clear now—he's not just an enemy. He's at the center of all this chaos. And I'm going to find out why."

Yuma started walking off, leaving the other two there confused.

"Where are you going?" Asked Shay.

"To get some answers."

You Show Duel School

The duel between Yuya and Kai raged on, both refusing to back down. The tension in the air was almost suffocating, the clash of their monsters sending shockwaves across the field.

Yuya stood confidently, but the expression on his face was unnerving—his grin stretched wide, dark and twisted, as if he were savoring every moment of chaos. His usual cheerful demeanor was gone, replaced by something far more sinister.

Across from him, Kai gripped his duel disk tightly, his brow furrowed with unease. The boy standing before him now wasn't the Yuya he had met a month ago. This wasn't the fun-loving, optimistic duelist he had once known.

"Yuya..." Kai muttered under his breath, trying to keep his composure. "What happened to you?"

"What's wrong, Kai?" Yuya's grin twisted into something even more sinister, his eyes glowing faintly with an unnatural light. When he spoke, his voice was no longer his own. It was deeper, layered, and resonated with an eerie power that sent a chill down Kai's spine. "Nervous? Don't tell me you're afraid of a little fun."

Kai didn't answer. His eyes narrowed, fixed intently on Yuya. This wasn't him— A minute ago he was acting on revenge, preaching about justice and the pain he felt for Yuto and Sora. But now? But this? There was no anger, no frustration, no sadness in the boy standing before him now. Instead, there was something far more sinister—pure malice, radiating off him like a dark aura.

Yuya's grin didn't waver as he tilted his head, his eyes gleaming with an unnatural delight. He wasn't just dueling; he was savoring every move, every moment of the struggle.

"It's strange," Kai finally said, his voice low and steady, though his grip on his duel disk tightened. "You're not even pretending anymore, are you? No more talk about justice or revenge. Just... this."

Yuya chuckled, the sound cold and sharp. "Justice? Revenge?" He scoffed, his tone mocking. "Now why would I want that when I can just have more fun torturing you?"

From the sidelines, Yuzu and Yoko watched the pair with growing horror, their expressions shifting from concern to outright fear as the sinister change in Yuya became undeniable.

Yuzu gripped her duel disk tightly, her knuckles white as her heart pounded in her chest. This wasn't the Yuya she knew—the boy who always fought to make others smile, who would do anything to protect his friends. She felt frozen, her mind racing to make sense of what she was seeing.

"What... what's happening to him?" Yuzu whispered, her voice trembling. She couldn't take her eyes off Yuya, his dark grin and the eerie aura surrounding him making her stomach churn.

Yoko, standing beside her, frowned deeply, her arms crossed as her gaze fixated on her son. "I don't know, but this isn't like him at all." Her voice was calm, but the worry in her tone was unmistakable.

"Did you see how he's looking at Kai?" Yuzu asked, her voice rising slightly in panic. "He's enjoying this—he's never like this during a duel!"

Yoko's lips pressed into a thin line, her sharp eyes narrowing as she observed Yuya's every movement. "Something's wrong," she finally said, her tone firmer now. "That's not just anger or frustration. It's like... it's like he's someone else."

Yuzu clenched her fists, her eyes watering as she forced herself to stay composed. "We have to do something, Yoko! We can't just stand here while—while this happens!"

Yoko placed a reassuring hand on Yuzu's shoulder, though her gaze never left Yuya. "We will," she said quietly. "But not yet. If we interfere now, we could make things worse. Let's see how this plays out. Kai might be able to reach him."

Yuzu bit her lip, her heart aching as she watched Yuya continue his twisted duel. "Yuya," she whispered softly, tears welling in her eyes. "Please... come back to us."

"I'm not afraid of you, Yuya," Kai replied firmly, though his unease was clear. "But whatever this is, it's not you. Snap out of it."

Yuya tilted his head, his grin never faltering. "Not me? Oh, Kai, I think you'll find this is me. Maybe I've just stopped pretending." Laughter rang out as Yuya turned his head back and pointed at Kai. He was growing mad. "This is me!" He shouted, "I am BACK!!!" Yuya's voice was getting louder, getting darker, getting wickeder with each word. "You know I am glad your not afraid, cuz guess what. Its my turn and I am going to so enjoy breaking you!"

"I DRAW!!"

I swallowed hard, my eyes fixed on Yuya, the air around him crackling with an energy I couldn't quite place.

"Prepare for despair," Yuya's voice echoed through the room, icy and mocking. "I normal summon Performapal Skullcrobat Joker!"

Performapal Skullcrobat Joker LV4 (ATK 1900/DEF 100)

The familiar clownish figure of Skullcrobat Joker materialized before us, his wide grin stretching impossibly across his face. His eyes gleamed mischievously, but there was no warmth in his expression—only something unsettlingly hollow.

"This magician allows me to add one magician or performapal monster straight to my hand. That means bad news for you, I'm afraid. I choose Performapal Smile Sorcerer!"

"And now, lets see if I get this right." Yuya said with a wicked smile. Mockingly, he spoke. "My monsters are now ready to bring you destruction. I pendulum summon!! Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, Performapal Odd-Eyes Pheonix and Performapal Smile Sorcerer!!"

The air shifted as the pendulum monsters appeared in a burst of light and shadow. Pendulum Sorcerer materialized first, his robes swirling around him as arcane symbols danced through the air. Next came Odd-Eyes Phoenix, its wings blazing with a fierce red glow, radiating an unsettling power. Finally, Smile Sorcerer stood tall, his dark cloak billowing, his sinister smile a mirror of Yuya's own.

Yuya's voice dropped into a mocking tone. "Now, I activate Smile Sorcerer's effect to add a Smile Spell card to my hand. I choose Smile World!" The spell card materialized in his hand, its power twisting the atmosphere around us. "This spell raises the attack points of every monster on the field."Performapal Skullcrobat Joker LV4 (ATK 1900/DEF 100)

"Now, you're probably wondering what the point of all this is," Yuya continued, his voice dripping with amusement. "What you don't realize is that this boost works wonders with Pendulum Smile Sorcerer."

He leaned in slightly, savoring the moment. "You see, as long as all my monsters on the field have their attack increased, Smile Sorcerer's effect lets me draw as many cards as I have monsters. And since there are four, I get to draw four cards. Aah, always nice to have a full hand again. Don't you think?"

He grinned mockingly, his eyes glinting with a malevolent excitement. The sound of the cards sliding into his hand was the only noise in the heavy air as his power continued to grow.

"What good does that do you?" I asked, irritation creeping into my voice. "Your monsters still don't stand a chance against my Divine Dragon Lord!"

Yuya chuckled darkly, unfazed. "My, my, an impatient one we have here. Patience. Your demise will arrive soon enough."

In that moment, a picture flashed in Yuya's mind—one of a shadowy, imposing dragon. His smile grew wider as he felt its presence take hold. "It's here."

The words barely left his lips when a blinding flash of light erupted, flooding the room. We all shielded our eyes, the light stinging and overwhelming. It felt as if the very air had shifted, thick with an unsettling heaviness, foretelling something terrible was coming.

I cracked my eyes open just in time to see Yuya raise a card high in the air, a new presence unmistakably forming in his grasp. "I overlay Performapal ODD-Eyes Skullcrobat Joker and my Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer to create the overlay network."

As the words left his lips, two spheres of purple energy materialized before him, swirling around each other like storm clouds gathering in a vortex. They shot up, merging into a swirling Xyz wormhole, and in an instant, the form of a massive, menacing dragon began to emerge.

"Cloaked in shadows and relentless in its objections. I summon the most dangerous dragons of all. Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon"

Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon Rank 4 (ATK 2500/DEF 2000)

The dark dragon loomed in front of me, its piercing gaze filled with malice, as if it could see right through me. A cold shiver ran down my spine, and I felt a lump form in my throat, choking me.

"Impossible," I muttered, my voice barely a whisper. "Since when could Yuya Xyz summon, and why… why does he have Yuto's dragon?"

Yuzu staggered back, her face pale, her eyes wide with disbelief. She couldn't tear her gaze away from the monstrous creature that now stood in front of us. The air was thick with tension, every second dragging like an eternity.

Yoko's eyes darted between Yuzu and Yuya, confusion turning quickly to horror. "What's going on?" she asked, her voice shaking.

Yuzu's words barely escaped her, her voice barely above a breath. "That dragon… it belongs to the guy who attacked us two days ago."

A deafening silence filled the room, and for a split second, everything seemed to freeze. Then, Yoko's voice broke through the stillness, loud and horrified. "What?!"

Her hands flew to her mouth, her eyes wide in terror as she stared at Yuya, unable to comprehend what was happening.

"HAHAHAH!!" Yuya's laugh echoed through the room, cold and cruel, sending a chill down my spine. He raised his hand, the dark dragon looming over us as it glowed with ominous energy.

"I activate Dark Rebellion's effect!" Yuya's voice dripped with malice as he continued, his eyes gleaming with dark delight. "By detaching one overlay unit, your Divine Dragon Lord's attack points decrease by half!"

The dragon's power faltered as its strength began to drain, its once-mighty presence now overshadowed by the dark dragon's relentless assault.

Yuya's grin widened, almost predatory. "And by detaching its last overlay unit… guess what happens next? Your dragon's attack points are halved again, bringing them all the way down to the lowest of the low—just like you."

Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand LV8 (ATK 900/DEF 2800)

The air grew heavy with Yuya's twisted satisfaction.

Yuzu and Yoko stared at the dragon in horror. "Oh no. If this attack hits-" Started Yuzu

"Kai loses." Finished Yoko.

'Kai, please stay strong.' Yuzu prayed

"AND NOW LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!! THE MOMENT YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! Dark Rebellion xyz dragon shall now graciously destroy that pesty Divine dragon lord Felgrand."

Dark rebellion stared down Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand before charging at it. It was as if it was getting revenge for a fallen brother.

"Sorry not happening, you forgot my face down card Impenetrable Attack!!" I raised up my hand as my trap revealed itself. "This allows me to remove any battle damage I may take. You won't be ending me this turn."

Yuya gritted his teeth in frustration, stamping his feet like a toddler being denied of its treats.

"Fine then, your dragon is still destroyed." My divine dragon lord felgrand dissipated as Dark Rebellion dragon pierced it. The dragons mouth grew into a smirk similar into Yuya's as in relishing in its revenge.

"And your Red-Eyes Dark Dragon shall also soon go. Pendulum Smile Sorcerer attack!"

"I don't think so, I banish Return of The Dragon Lords from my graveyard, protecting my dragon from destruction."

Yuya scowled as he glared at me like a Predator hunting its prey. His face was devoid of any emotions other than pure hate. Now that I thought about it, it was the same look Yuto gave me last time we duelled. I never thought, I'd ever see that look on him, yet here he was directing it towards me.

"I'll set two cards face down then end my turn." Said Yuya, still in that same raspy, dark voice. "I'll end you next turn."

I took a deep breath, steadying myself. My grip on my Duel Disk tightened as I locked my eyes on Yuya. Nothing had changed. No matter how dark or twisted he seemed now, I wasn't giving up on him.

He was still Yuya, still the dueltaining lover who brought smiles to so many faces. Just like with Sora, I refused to believe that the person standing across from me, consumed by malice, was all that was left of the man I thought of as my little brother.

"I'm not giving up on you, Yuya," I muttered under my breath, my determination unwavering. "I'll bring you back—no matter what it takes. I draw!!"

"I drew just what I need. I activate Card Of Demise. Now I can draw up to 5 cards, however I have to discard my entire hand by the end of this turn." I drew my five card and looked at them. I sighed in relief. "Now its time to cook. I tribute Red-Eyes Black Dragon, for its Darkness form. From the ashes of despair, rise anew! Cloaked in shadows and wreathed in flames, the dragon of ultimate power emerges! I summon the indomitable fury of Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon!"

Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon LV8 (ATK 2400/DEF 2000)

A deafening roar tore through the air as the monster appeared. Its body, a sleek, obsidian black, shimmered like molten metal in the dim light, veins of crimson fire pulsing along its scales. Massive, bat-like wings spread wide, casting an ominous shadow over the battlefield. Its glowing red eyes burned with a predatory intensity, and streams of dark smoke curled from its snarling maw.

"This dark monster also has a very interesting ability. It gains 300 atk for each dragon monster in my hand. And I have 4!"

Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon LV8 (ATK 3600/DEF 2000)

Everyone looked, as my dragon roared, rising in strength. Yuya had a pissed of face, as he stared at the monster before him.

"I ain't done yet. I normal summon Black Stone of Legend!"

Black Stone of Legend LV1 (ATK 0/DEF 0)

A small simple stone appeared before me, as Red-Eyes Darkness dragon, covered it with its wings as if protecting it like a worried mother.

"Now you may be thinking that this little egg is harmless, but you'll be thinking differently when it hatches. I activate my stone's special ability, in order to evolve it into a more ferocious dragon." The stone suddenly started shinning bright white, surprising everyone as Darkness dragon moved to let its baby grown. "Arise in a fiery tempest, Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon!"

Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon LV7 (ATK 2400/DEF 2000)

"Now the good news for you is, since I already normal summoned this turn, I can't gemini summoned, meaning right now it's just a normal Red-Eyes Black Dragon. The bad news is that I have another dragon in the graveyard. So that's another 300 attack points for Red-Eyes Darkness dragon!" My dragon once again roared as it grew in strength.

Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon LV8 (ATK 3900/DEF 2000)

"Kai just created an opportunity to not only bring out another powerful dragon, but to get another in the graveyard to power-up his Darkness Dragon. Impressive!" Praised Yoko, clapping.

"Yeah, Kai is the best duellist, I know." Said Yuzu with a smile as she looked at Kai. "If anyone can bring Yuya back its him."

Yuya's eyes locked on Yuzu, his wide-eyed stare filled with a strange mix of disbelief and longing, as if he were gazing at someone he thought he'd never see again. His lips trembled as he whispered a single name, barely audible over the crackling tension on the field.

"Ray?"

The sound of it jolted me. I blinked in confusion, glancing at him and then at Yuzu, who stood equally stunned. Who was Ray?

"Doesn't he know that's Yuzu?" I muttered to myself. "What's with calling her Ray?"

But before I could make sense of it, Yuya's demeanor shifted. His expression twisted as he suddenly clutched his head, his body trembling as if he were fighting an invisible force. His breathing became ragged, and his face contorted in agony.

The same words, sinister and haunting, seemed to echo endlessly in his mind.

'Yuzu is mine. Stay out of my way.'

'Yuzu is mine. Stay out of my way.'

Yuya dropped to one knee, gripping his head tighter as the torment grew. "No… stop it…" he muttered, his voice strained, almost unrecognizable.

But then his lips curled into a wicked grin, and a raspy, mocking voice broke through. "Stop it, boy! Worry about your pitiful little emotions on your own time. I'm in the middle of crushing your friend."

"YUYA! Its me, Kai. Don't you dare let whatever it is take control of you, fight it. I am right here with you. I know your strong enough!" I shouted, clinging for desperate hope that the old Yuya was still in there.

"Kai…" Said Yuya, breathing heavily, like it took major mental stress just to talk.

"You be quiet!" Yuya suddenly snapped up, as it looked at me with a dark grin. "In case you forget, we are still in the middle of a battle. A battle you are soon going to lose."

I gritted my teeth as I glared at him. "I don't think so. This battle is going to end right here, with you being the loser. Red-Eyes Darkness dragon shall make sure of that as it takes down your Dark Rebellion Dragon. Go Infernal Eclipse Blaze!"

My Darkness dragon rose up twirling as its body became wrapped in flames. It then dived down towards Dark Rebellion, whose claws on its mouth turned white as it charged fearlessly towards it.

"I don't think so. I activate the trap Invisibility Barrier. This trap allows me to banish one xyz monster on my field, in order to negate the effects of one monster my monster control."

"What!" I shouted as I watched Dark Rebellion disappear.

"Once again, you served me well, my dragon." Yuya said as he raised the card to his head as if saying a silent prayer to it. "Now that your monsters effects are gone, its attack power goes back down.

I clicked my teeth in annoyance as I watched my dragons attack power go down.

"Fine then, I'll just attack your Performapal Odd-Eyes Phoenix with Red-Eyes Dark Flare Dragon. Flare of the Abyss!"

Red-Eyes Dark Flare Dragon reared up with a roar, its wings flaring with intense, fiery energy. The air crackled as it unleashed torrents of searing dark flames, each ball of fire spiraling downward like meteors of doom. The flames rained down upon Odd-Eyes Phoenix, engulfing it in a fierce inferno.

"I place three cards facedown, then end my turn."

Yuya smirked darkly. "Seems like you were not able to finish me this turn, you poor, poor child."

"Just start your turn, I said." Choosing not to respond to the mockery it was trying to do.

"If you insist. It's my turn." Said the laughing Yuya as it drew.

"Allow me to introduce you to another one of my dragons." Yuya raised its hand into air as his lips twisted into a dark smirk. "I use the pendulum scale in order to summon monsters from level 1 through 8. I pendulum summon. Swing Pendulum and carve the ark of destruction. My monsters are ready to bring terror into the fears of my victims. Pendulum Summon!! Odd-Eyes Arc Dragon, Performapal Odd-Eyes Dissolver, Performapal Smile Sorcerer and Performapal Skullcrobat Joker!!"

Odd-Eyes Arc Dragon LV7 (ATK 2500/2000)

Performapal Odd-Eyes Dissolver LV 8 (ATK 2000/DEF 2600)

Performapal Smile Sorcerer LV8 (ATK 2500/DEF 2000)

Performapal Skullcrobat Joker LV4 (ATK 1800/DEF 100)

My dragons and I stood firmly, our presence unwavering as we locked eyes with the swarm of monsters in front of us. The tension in the air was palpable, each of us preparing for the inevitable clash. I couldn't afford to be distracted, though the transformation of Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon—its new, ominous form—had definitely caught my attention. Still, I pushed the unsettling feeling aside, keeping my focus sharp on the battle ahead.

But I could tell Yoko and Yuzu weren't as unaffected. They both looked on in shock, unable to tear their gaze away from the menacing change that had overcome the dragon. Their eyes widened with unease as the new version of Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon loomed in front of them, dark energy swirling around it like a storm. I could feel their worry; it was almost tangible, yet I had no time to indulge in it.

"Focus," I muttered to myself, turning my attention back to the battlefield. The real threat was coming.

Yuya somehow widened his smirk further as an image appeared in his head. An image of a dark purple Dragon. 'Don't worry. I will bring you out to feast soon.'

"I activate my trap card Pendulum switch. This card allows for me to switch Performapal Odd-Eyes Dissolver with Performapal Seal Eel in defence mode.

Performapal Seal Eel LV1 (ATK 100/DEF 100)

"Now the criteria has been met," Yuya said with a twisted smile, his voice dripping with unsettling calm. We all exchanged confused looks, sensing something far worse was about to unfold.

"I activate Performapal Odd-Eyes Pendulum's ability to fusion summon," he continued, his eyes gleaming with a dangerous excitement. "Using the monsters from my hand and field, I fuse together Odd-Eyes Arc Dragon and Performapal Skullcrobat Joker."

Yuya's hands moved in a strange, almost ritualistic motion, and the atmosphere grew thick with tension. His smile deepened into something dark and unnerving.

"From the depths of darkness," Yuya intoned, his voice colder now, heavy with the weight of dread. "I summon a creature of pure annihilation! A dragon born not just of hunger, but of insatiable destruction. Its power is boundless, and its presence is a shadow that will swallow everything in its path. Feast upon the energy of your enemies, Starving Venom Fusion Dragon!"

The ground trembled as the dragon's form materialized in the chaos. Its eyes glowed with an unnatural hunger, and the very air seemed to thicken with malevolent energy. It was as if the dragon itself was a harbinger of doom, silently promising devastation.

"Consume all that dares to stand before you," Yuya's voice fell to a chilling whisper, "and let your hunger be their end."

The dragon's roar echoed through the arena, a terrifying sound that sent a shiver down everyone's spine. The looming threat was palpable, and we all knew that this was no ordinary summon—this was a declaration of destruction.

Authors note: Man, this chapter was honestly mentally draining. It's been a long week guys. Apologies, I was planning on ending this battle in the chapter, but I'm too lazy right now and I think this is a decent place to end right now. I promise tomorrow chapter will have the second battle in completion (Hopefully). Guess who its between in the comments! Btw, I just realised I made a mistake in the pendulum summoning, as I am meant to be summoning only up to level 7 monsters not Level 8 monsters like Performapal Odd-Eyes Dissolver and Performapal Smile Sorcerer, but who cares right. Just pretend their level 7 and enjoy part two of the Yuya v Kai battle. Things have gotten intense. Just in case y'all haven't figured it out yet, yes Kai is fighting Zarc, who had temporarily taken over Yuya's body. Anyway this is it for me Peace!

P.S any mistakes I may have done, write em in the comment section.
