Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Rank 1 Troop - Spirit Monster
"Hiss~ Stay calm, stay calm, my attributes and Talent are hellish enough to start with, and although the Troop Type is a bit subpar, it's still better than me, right? It wouldn't be worth it if I got myself worked up over this."
Qin Muye forcibly consoled himself, avoiding the loss of his senses and dismantling the Spirit Monster workshop.
As soon as the Spirit Monster workshop was completed, he checked it immediately. Although he hadn't recruited any Spirit Monsters yet, he had seen their attributes and Introduction through the Spirit Monster workshop.
[Troop Type: Spirit Monster]
[Troop Rank: Basic]
[Life Value: 5/5]
[Magic Value: 10/10]
[Attack Power: 0]
[Defensive power: 1]
[Skill]
[Lucky Garden: Luck +1]
[Magic Power Physique: Defensive Power +1]
[Magic Wisdom: Magic Value +10]
[Loyal Taming: Morale never lowers]
[Introduction: Spirit Monsters are actually the product of magical experiments on captured Garden Elves. They are smarter and more obedient than Garden Elves, and are the most loyal servants in the Mage Tower]
From the skills perspective, it was incredibly luxurious, but the problem was that both the initial defensive power and Attack Power were 0. If it weren't for the Magic Power Physique skill boosting its Defensive power to 1, it would probably be all zeros just like him.
As for the Magic Value, that was even more useless; the Spirit Monsters didn't have any magic, so the Magic Value was just for show.
"No worries, at least they're better than me. Just these four skills could easily beat me. This big brother doesn't despise the younger one." Qin Muye quickly calmed down and then decided to recruit all 10 Spirit Monsters from the workshop.
[Recruited Spirit Monsters ×10, cost: 300 Gold Coins]
Qin Muye felt a real pinch. One Spirit Monster cost 30 Gold Coins, and he had only a thousand in total. Recruiting ten took away 30% of his funds.
With the silver and goods exchanged, ten Spirit Monsters just appeared before Qin Muye, but he wasn't happy at all, because they looked too much like Goblins.
Dressed in long gray robes, coupled with greenish skin and inheriting the Elves' pointed ears, but they had become ugly and small due to magical experiments. Their frail bodies made them look just like little children, and Qin Muye would bet, they were no taller than 50 centimeters, definitely no more.
"Isn't this just a Goblin, dressed up a bit and you renamed it Spirit Monster? Do you think I'm an idiot!!!"
This time, Qin Muye truly lost his composure.
"Great master, why do you compare us with such lowly beings as Goblins? We are your creations, master. Mages created us from the most beloved Elves in the natural garden, with the highest Magic Power. We are nothing like those brainless Goblins."
One Spirit Monster spoke.
Qin Muye's expression changed: "You all, have intelligence?"
"Yes, great master, the intelligence we possess was granted to us from your magic," another Spirit Monster said.
It was then that Qin Muye took a good look at these Spirit Monsters. They indeed weren't like the Goblins he remembered, but rather they resembled civilized Goblins, looking well-trained.
It was just that their combat power... probably wasn't up to much.
"Hmm, I understand. I'll be counting on you guys from now on," Qin Muye somewhat reluctantly accepted.
Although they might be lacking a bit, they were definitely stronger than himself.
He then led the 10 Spirit Monsters away from his domain, towards a wooden Treasure Box he had discovered while waiting for the Spirit Monster workshop to be built.
The wooden treasure box was guarded by three wolves, and he dared not approach after casting a glance from afar.
It wasn't that he was only slightly unskilled in combat, but that he had no combat skills at all. Approaching would be tantamount to suicide.
He had collected all the resources within his territory. They weren't much, just 1 unit of wood, 3 units of minerals, and 2 units of food. That was all, so if he wanted more, he would need to step out of his comfort zone.
Upon activating Basic Reconnaissance Skill, Qin Muye quickly obtained the data on these three wolves.
[Troop Type: Wolf]
[Troop Rank: Basic]
[Life Value: 10/10]
[Attack Power: 5]
[Defense Power: 3]
[Skill]
[Bite: 10% chance to cause bleeding status when using sharp teeth]
"There are no skills, but aren't these life values and attack and defense a bit too outrageous..."
Qin Muye was somewhat baffled; one bite could easily eliminate a Spirit Monster.
Though strong in attributes, it only had one skill, unlike the luxurious set of skills a Spirit Monster possessed—just one bite, and that too, was probabilistic rather than guaranteed to cause bleeding.
"We should be able to fight them. After all, I have ten Spirit Monsters, and there are only three wolves. We can gang up and overpower them..."
Qin Muye wasn't confident, but the sight of that wooden treasure box was too tempting.
"Go, let's kill the wolves to gain experience and get the treasure box," ordered Qin Muye, and the Spirit Monsters didn't hesitate to charge at the wolves, not caring that they were significantly larger.
As battle was about to ensue, the three wolves also charged forward.
The imagination was delightful, but reality was harsh.
In the first encounter, one of the wolves slammed a claw down on the leading Spirit Monster, sending it flying back with only a sliver of life left.
"Damn, are you kidding me? It's practically a one-hit KO. Retreat, retreat!!!"
But his command came a bit too late. Two more Spirit Monsters were attacked, although one was lucky enough to dodge. The other sustained a light injury to its arm, losing just 1 life point.
Fortunately, they were still in the 7-day beginner period, where wild creatures would not pursue. Once Qin Muye ordered a retreat, the wolves did not chase further but returned to guarding the treasure box.
[A humiliating defeat, you gained nothing.]
One Spirit Monster was severely injured, another slightly injured.
The severely injured Spirit Monster, supported by two others, seemed near death. Fortunately, it had 1 point of life left, or it would have been over.
'Attack Power is 0, can't even break through their defense,' Qin Muye looked somber.
The later two Spirit Monsters did manage to attack one of the wolves, but because their Attack Power was 0 and the opponent's Defense Power was 3, they caused no damage at all.
The first severely injured Spirit Monster took the full brunt of the wolf's attack. Luckily, its Magic Power Physique provided 1 point of defense to offset the 1 point of attack, or it wouldn't just have 1 point of damage left but would have died on the spot.
The one that was lucky, although it was a bit slow and got hit on the arm, only lost 1 life point, which was a stroke of luck as it didn't take full damage.
"You two help him back to the territory, and you should also go back to heal. The rest of you, come with me... to gather some resources," Qin Muye said to the two Spirit Monsters supporting the severely injured one and the slightly injured one. He wasn't about to continue monster hunting now, at least not until he found some he could definitely defeat.
After all, these Spirit Monsters were truly weak.
