Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Ordinary Characters
"Two building blueprints, a Skill Book, and a Troop Enhancement Book," Qin Muye examined his backpack, which contained farmland and Spirit Monster workshop blueprints, as well as books named Basic Magic Power and Spirit Monster Experiment Manual which he had found on the second floor of the Mage Tower.
[Basic Magic Power]
[Learning Requirement: Knowledge 10]
[Increases damage of attack magic by 5%]
At first glance, it seemed like quite a decent Skill Book, and since it was labeled 'Basic,' it indicated that the skill could potentially be developed further.
"Well, it really does seem like Heroic Unrivaled..."
Qin Muye then opened his own attribute panel, a mere 10 points in knowledge, just from nine years of compulsory education, not too much, but at least 5 points were there.
[Lord LV1 (0/1000)]
[Territory: Mage Tower (Damaged)]
[Life Value: 100%]
[Magic Value: 0]
[Attack Power: 0 (A Lord's Attack Power can add an additional 10% to the Troops' Attack Power led by them)]
[Defensive Power: 0 (A Lord's Defense can add an additional 10% to the Defense of the Troops led by them)]
[Power: 0 (A Lord's Power can increase the lethality of attack magic and enhance the effect and duration of support magic)]
[Knowledge: 0 (Knowledge affects the Magic Value Limit of the Lord, 1 point in Knowledge corresponds to an additional 10 points in the Magic Value Limit)]
[Lord Talent: Learning Ability (Grants an additional 50% Experience when acquiring Experience)]
[Lord Skill: Basic Reconnaissance Skill (Temporary)]
"..."
Looking at his attributes, Qin Muye was genuinely dumbfounded this time, as everything except for Life Value was at 0, it was an explosive feeling, and he didn't even have that divine talent he imagined, just an ability to gain 50% more experience, which seemed to be useful from early to late stages but was utterly mediocre to the extreme.
"I have overestimated myself," Qin Muye was a bit shocked by his own attributes but did not think too deeply about it, as worrying wouldn't solve anything.
"Can't use Basic Magic Power, maybe the remaining Spirit Monster Experiment Manual can give me a surprise," he thought.
He knew his initial troop type was the Spirit Monster, and if he was not up to par, having a capable troop type was still okay, and he didn't mind.
[Spirit Monster Experiment Manual]
[Research Requirements: 2nd Tier Territory, one of the following buildings Magic Guild/Mage Tower or equivalent]
[Upon use, grants technologies for Spirit Monster Attack Power Enhancement, Spirit Monster Defense Enhancement, Spirit Monster Life Value Enhancement]
"Not bad, although the requirements are a bit strict, needing a 2nd tier territory."
As for the subsequent building requirements, Qin Muye was not concerned at all, since his territory was the Mage Tower, it's no wonder that the newbie gift pack specified Spirit Monsters as his troop type.
"Let's build the Spirit Monster workshop first. Once that's done, I can start leading troops into battle," Qin Muye decided to start construction on the second floor immediately.
[Constructing Spirit Monster Workshop, consumption for this build: 50 units of Minerals, 50 units of Wood, time needed: 1 hour]
Watching faint glimmers appear, Qin Muye was a bit excited.
However, the time needed for construction was a bit unexpected, as he thought it would just instantly appear ready.
"There's 100 units of food, divided into 50 units of white bread and 50 units of clear water. Isn't that to say the daily consumption of my troop type is food?"
"Wait, not just the troops, I need to consume food too."
Even though he had been digitized, he still needed food for sustenance.
"In that case, food might be a single category of resources but the types are certainly more complex."
Immediately, Qin Muye understood the importance of food, first heading over to the Supplies Warehouse, a built-in structure in his territory located on the sublevel of the Mage Tower.
This place was not only a Supplies Warehouse, but also had a dried-up Magic Pool.
Qin Muye glanced around, the materials were neatly arranged, everything clearly visible at a glance, with just bread, clear water, wood, and minerals in four categories.
"I'm still quite weak, let's leave it at this for now and think about storing food separately once the Supplies Warehouse is expanded," he decided.
Currently, it seemed there was space for about 5000 units of either wood or minerals. As for food, naturally, there was quite a bit more.
"No worries about water, as my Mage Tower is right next to a mountain and a river, mainly it's the staple food, how good it would have been if the 50 units of clear water could be replaced with white bread."
Unlike wood and minerals, Qin Muye had counted the white bread, and 50 units meant exactly 50 loaves, which was a bit disappointing.
"Lucky to have farmland, I need to get started quick..."
Qin Muye was just about to head out to construct the farmland when he suddenly recalled an issue—while it was true he could grow crops on the farmland, there was one critical problem: he didn't have any seeds.
"So is the first issue I need to face the food problem? I hope this farmland is as magical as in 'Lord Era', not requiring seeds; otherwise, I guess I'll have to resort to fishing," he mused.
He could see that his situation wasn't much different from starting from scratch; now all he could hope was that the Spirit Monster troop type would prove strong, as there weren't any good news since he had arrived.
"At this time, if this were a thrilling Lord story, I'd already be leading troops on an adventure and battling monsters, yet here I am still worrying about food," said Qin Muye sighing, feeling somewhat helpless.
Honestly, his start was probably just average, not particularly great.
After leaving the Mage Tower, Qin Muye noticed that the protective barrier was quite large, not only covering the entire Mage Tower but also extending about a thousand meters in radius from the tower itself; probably this was the initial territory.
It was indeed large, and even many resources were scattered within and included in the barrier.
[Constructing farmland, consumption for this build: 10 units of food, time needed: 10 minutes]
Qin Muye checked the food subcategories on the resources panel, relieved to find that what was short was not white bread but clear water, which eased his mind, as running out of bread would have really irritated him.
The farmland wasn't as large as the Spirit Monster Workshop, covering just about 5 square meters, but Qin Muye decided to build it and see how it goes; after all, it wasn't a one-time affair only, as he had learned the blueprints, and as long as there were enough resources, he could build as much as needed.
Also, he didn't lack water resources, as there was a river not far from the Mage Tower.
"Might as well take this time to collect some of the resources within the territory range, going out is out of the question; encountering wild monsters would be disastrous," Qin Muye muttered softly before starting his task.
