Chapter 102: Goodbye Parthenia

It was a strange night, with sadness and fear on one side and orcs reveling in the joy of victory on the other. When Kubey brought the City Lord back, she told him briefly what had happened. The young man was devastated, he had done all he could but he could not stop the slaughter.

After Nafiz's beast of power had eaten the dead, only blood and unclaimed clothes were left in the square. The task of cleaning it up fell to those of the City Guard who had not participated in the riot.

The friends they had stood side by side only a few days ago were now gone. They had disappeared into nothingness, with no bodies to bury, no graves to mourn over.

All this would bring a new problem: the city's manpower had been reduced by almost half. Most shops and workshops were empty and many of the merchants no longer had customers. This is where Eftelya would come in, although she was not informed of what was about to happen, she and Bookworm had made a plan to overcome the crisis.

People who remained loyal had to be rewarded. Commanders who had been thrown into the dungeon during the rebellion would replace the others. Poor people who obeyed the call and returned to their homes were already being given a share of the wealthy traitors' property, which would not only restore social balance, but also dispel the fear and anxiety that had settled over them.

"What do you think of the orc tribe in the region, great chief!

This time their work in Parthenia was really over. There was only one reason for them to stay in the so-called Trade Zone. A structure had to be created to ensure their continued domination and Nafız was asking her friend for his final decision.

"Until we take over the whole continent, we can make some experiments in this part of it. Our scouts have confirmed that there are many habitable places. We will divide our armies in two to protect what we have, while we will use Hammertooth and his warriors for the conquest of the Glacial Zone!

Alyon's plan made perfect sense. If they could hold the Trade Zone, with the minerals in the Arid Zone, their financial power would grow by leaps and bounds. As their enemies' resources were cut off, they would gain the upper hand.

The next move was to finish off the military power of the Main Orc Tribe, the tribe led by the White Bear.

''Are you sure there will be no trouble? When they see their old chief, won't their will to fight evaporate into thin air?

The Blood God had little confidence in the new army. Perhaps the thought of taking their lives was still lurking in the back of his mind.

''They have survived two tests, after what they have seen, such a thought will never cross their minds!''

The chief had full confidence in his warriors. Hammertooth's warriors were not so dishonorable as to betray the one who took care of them when they were left for dead. Even the traces of the betrayal his master had suffered before would not be enough to sway his decision, if he was to unite this land, he had to trust some of its inhabitants.

''Do we have a route? We can't just go to the main tribe and say, wait a minute, we're going to invade the Glacial Zone, let us cross with fifty thousand people?

The Orc Steppes had a peculiar geographical structure, almost isolated from the outside world, but with hard-to-reach points within it. In addition to the deep rift that separated the Trade Zone from the Arid Zone, there was also a river that separated it from the densely vegetated Woodland Zone.

The river was called Mad Water, named after its crazy nature. Its waters, which were like a velvet blanket in normal times, would go mad when a living creature was on it and would not stop until it swallowed it. The only reason why this part of Parthenia, where the city of Parthenia is located, can only be accessed by huge suspension bridges is because of the Mad River.

The situation in the Glacial Zone was no different. Surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges, its only land connection was through the Mother Orc Tribe. On its border with the Arid Zone was the Cursed Lake, formed by the Mad Water River after it went underground.

The Cursed Lake was perhaps the most mysterious spot on the Orc Steppes. Whereas the coastal part of the Arid Zone was almost as hot as the lava of a volcano, the Glacial Zone was frozen solid. It was this strange pool of water that was at the root of the climatic conditions of the two regions.

''We will reach the region via the Cursed Lake, I think we can reach the tribe without freezing thanks to our superior bodies!''

The chief's plans were as simple as ever, if he wanted to do something, he took the shortest route.

''So, how will we manage to reach the opposite shore without boiling?''

After reaching the frozen section, no matter how difficult the journey was, it was nothing the orcs couldn't accomplish, but the hot side that burned everything that fell into it made Nafız think.

''I'm not saying this because he's my son, our boy found a cure for that too!''

Nafız's brows furrowed as the person in question was his own student. What did Bookworm have to do with this?

''You were curious, weren't you? When you went off to war with the groom, I ordered Bookworm to sort it out. In the past, all known ingredients had been tried to no avail, but my boy turned out to be poison, my friend!

Alyon puffed up and puffed up, as if he hadn't once given up on his child in frustration.

''Shoo dog! Slow down so they can call you a mullah, you've bragged enough about my student!

Her friend looked at Nafız for a moment, then rolled his eyes and continued speaking.

''He thought of experimenting with one of the shells we took from Dilber and they saw that it was unharmed even though it had been in the water for almost a day.''

The solution had already been found. Now it was just a matter of reorganizing the armies and building the many tribes that would be established within the Trade Zone. Gold was like sand in the tribe, if there was anything more than that, it was the number of traders around them.

Alyon's original intention had been to put Rebel Heart in charge of the tribe in this part, but now it made more sense to do what his friend said. They would set up a military base, with Rebel Heart in command and Morrison in charge of training.

It would be located at the crossroads of trade routes, and with the tribes that would be established around it, it would eventually cover the entire region. Perhaps in the future, if the orcs' knowledge and skills increased, they could try their luck in other arenas besides warfare.

In a city short of men, Chief Alyon was forced to leave five thousand warriors. Although there was no danger from land, Parthenia had to be protected against attacks by sea. The commanders selected from the remaining forty-five thousand warriors were ordered to establish their tribes in designated areas.

They were to settle and multiply with the troops they commanded, providing warriors to be trained at the military base. For many of them, the main purpose was to act as outposts, but in the future they too might have the opportunity to develop themselves in other ways.

As the great gates of the city opened, the orcs on the way out saluted him. Inside the wagon with a red orc fist on it sat the two men who had changed their fate.

Alyon and Nafiz were in a cage when they first entered this door, but when they left, they left with the air of a victorious commander.
