Chapter 101: Cheers
There was some resistance, but all those who had listened to Marcos and returned to their homes came back to the square. Nafiz wanted to see all the people of Parthenia, without exception, women and children.
The scene was not as they had left it. Orcs were on every corner, glaring at them. The people who had attacked the young Lord were gone, replaced by a mountain of corpses.
''Wait calmly where you are told, the slightest outburst and you will end up like these!''
The Blood God spoke, pointing to the dead bodies rising up beside her, the people sitting slowly on the ground, horrified but silent. The City Lord was nowhere to be seen, had what was feared happened? Would the orcs rule their lives from now on?
"Listen carefully to what I am about to say, for this will be your last chance!
Nafiz took a deep breath and then continued.
"I am the one who committed the massacre you will never forget, I am the one who killed the old Lord, and I am the one responsible for the hill you see next to me!
Her voice was like a sharp knife, she was looking people in the eyes.
"My name is Nafız, the name you use to scare your children is mine!
As she spoke these last words, she increased the intensity of her voice, as if she wanted to force this truth into their heads.
''You were talking about this everywhere, saying we will not forget, but I see that many of you were lying!''
She glanced at the dead bodies beside her and continued.
"Not only the massacre in the arena, but many things have been erased from your memory; first of all, you have forgotten the name of the land where you live!
This continent is called the Orc Steppes, where orcs are the law, the judge and the god!
The warriors inside the city were overwhelmed by what they heard, they were witnessing the end of an era.
"We have given you an opportunity, we have elected a ruler who loves the land of his birth, who loves his people, and who upholds justice. Instead, like sewer rats, you gossiped wherever you clustered, making unfounded accusations without seeing the good that was done!
Many of you longed for the days when you oppressed the owners of the continent and fought to bring them back. The punishment for this should have been to wash the city with the blood of all of you, but you have those who saved you from this disaster!
The crowd was silent, every word was true. Even if they hadn't attacked with weapons, they would have talked about it as much as anyone else.
''Tell your children and grandchildren about this scene, engrave what you saw in your minds. If you dare to oppose my appointed City Lord one more time, you will not be so lucky!
In the next rebellion, Parthenia will be an orcish homeland, and you will be branded as slaves, used for generations for the heaviest and most despicable labor! The gates will remain open until sunrise tomorrow, and anyone who wants to leave the city may do so with whatever they have!''
Nafız finished her words and made a gesture with her hand as if to say, "Take them away. Her speech affected the orcs as much as the humans, the orcs who listened to her could run to their deaths with a single word.
''You can summon the lord back to his castle, a brief summary of what happened will suffice. I want you to keep Marcos under surveillance, at the slightest sign of treachery, cut off his head and bring him to me!
When Kubey received her order, she quickly left her post and made her way to the City Lord's residence.
"When all the people have returned to their homes, you are not to come within two hundred paces of the square. Relocate the inhabitants of this neighborhood to the homes of the dead!
The last instruction was strange, but no one had the heart to question it. They hurried back to work, surely they could find somewhere to drink and celebrate.
''This order applies to everyone, you'd better obey it too!''
The captains were surprised to see their commander speaking into the void, but they were surprised to see the person who slowly appeared. Kuyag, who was impossible to see, let alone sense, thanks to his equipment from the bounty dungeon, saluted with a forced smile.
''Yes, I will leave immediately with my friends!''
The equipment used was only an advantage to a certain extent, the level of perception and power of the person was above all else. If they were so surprised by me, what would these fools do if they knew about Sangre, the Blood God thought.
When the chaos was over and the bloodstained square was empty, a footstep echoed. Turning in that direction, Nafiz saw the person he was waiting for.
''Out of hiding at last, big boy!''
It was Alyon, here to answer a question that haunted him after the events he had been left out of.
''Weren't you the one who said that our warriors should rejoice after victory? What happened, were you so moved by the death of the people lying next to you!''
''You were curious about my power animal, weren't you? You will meet him soon, get ready!''
Not two breaths later, the white rabbit appeared in front of Alyon and the big orc was laughing hysterically.
''Do you have this in different colors? Give me one, it's so cute!
''Hissssss!''
The power animals had a certain level of consciousness, the little rabbit heard what was being said about him and growled at the chief with his little mouth.
''Oh, keep it away from me. How can I save myself if it grabs my arm?
Alyon was judging a book by its cover, how would he behave if he knew in advance what he was about to see?
Nafız's spirit animal had a different goal, he was not going to be too bothered by the orc in front of him. He ran and entered under the hill of dead bodies.
"Where did he go now, did he sulk?
Alyon was still looking for a joke. His power animal was a huge bear, perhaps for the first time he was outsmarting his friend.
''He should be back in sight soon, just wait!''
When the Blood God spoke so confidently, Alyon felt a pang of doubt. He focused his attention on where the spirit animal was diving and after a few tens of breaths he would have to jump up in panic.
''Is this hill slowly descending? Or am I seeing it wrong?
The burly orc rubbed his eyes a few times, excited.
''That beast of power you mock belongs to a Blood God, kneel down and repent!''
After his friend's arrogant words, Alyon made a hand gesture as if to say come on, and sat down again cross-legged.
''As far as I understand, we will wait for the rabbit to eat all the corpses. You know what comes to mind? After the naming ceremony, when we looted the bones behind the kitchen tent. Who would have thought that there would come a time when those two weird orcs would rule half of the Orc Steppes!
From far away came the sounds of orcs getting drunk, and near them the incessant sounds of bones breaking, flesh and skin tearing. Meanwhile Alyon was reminiscing and waxing nostalgic, how could you not drink at a time like this?
''Here you go, we're blowing up my master's stash tonight!''
''Ooooo! Look at this dirty output, I've never tasted drinks from another continent before!''
Looking at her friend who took the bottle she handed him, she remembered not only the things of this world but also the joyful moments she had experienced in her first life.
''I promise! What's on another continent, next time we'll party with drinks from worlds you'll never see!
''Cheers!''

One day we will die, they will bury us. They will praise you for a few days, then they will divide the rest of your property; and if they are not satisfied, they will curse you.
