Wizard: I Can Refine Everything

Chapter 30: Preparing for Battle

"Since you've made your decision, I'll arrange it," Ulysses said, his voice returning to normal. "This is an opportunity, and if the Abyss Infected is strong enough, perhaps we can take the chance to accomplish legendary feats as well."

Richard nodded slightly and asked, "After this transformation begins, how long will it take for the infected to fully awaken?"

"That depends not on him, but on the World Master of the Mechanical Court," Ulysses shook his head. "Unless there is an accident, it will only be a few days before the Mechanical God King steps down from his throne.

A sudden doubling of the blessing, only a fool would not feel it."

"Then it seems we don't have much time left."

Richard's voice carried a lethal seriousness. After decades of peace, he was back on the battlefield.

This time, he had finally transformed from a chess piece on the board to the player manipulating the pieces.

"How is your cultivation coming along?" Ulysses asked.

"Lan has already successfully cultivated ten, with effects ranging from one-tenth to one percent. But it's enough for mass production of cultivators."

It had been over half a year since Richard found the Divine Palace Laboratory. The degraded Hearts of Mayfly cultivated in the Divine Palace Laboratory were complete.

While they could not stably cultivate the degraded Hearts of Mayfly, Lan managed to stack the numbers with ample resources, successfully producing ten different but very stable degraded Hearts of Mayfly.

According to Richard's plan, these Hearts of Mayfly would be key to mass-producing Miracle Monks.

The original Heart of Mayfly, though effective, produced only a limited amount of Mayfly Essence each day. Relying on a single Heart of Mayfly was sufficient for enhancing a few priests on a small scale, but to cultivate an army was wishful thinking.

Although the Goblins had methods for cultivating Level 1 Creatures, those cultivations not only required harshly qualified candidates but also took a long time, nowhere near as fast as using Mayfly Essence.

"Then let's begin. Those prosthetic Goblins alone can't withstand the march of the Abyss."

...

The news of the fall of the Royal Court was completely sealed within the Blood and Flesh Court, but while the news might be locked down, the evacuation of the public still had to be conducted.

These civilians may not have any power, but if they were devoured by the Abyss, they would become the force of the Abyss.

At the border between the Blood and Flesh Court and the Mechanical Court, a large number of priests from the Master of All Machines Church crossed the border. Behind them were vast trains and endless building and war machines.

The civil war within the Mechanical Court had ended three months ago. Under the absolute suppression of military force, even though the nobles of the Mechanical Court deployed a squad of guards clad in Pioneer Armor, they merely provided Richard with a bit more spoils of war.

The Royal Court Faction was annihilated, all bishops of the Royal Court Faction were cast into the Melter by Tai'er, crafted into a steel tombstone to commemorate his deceased friend—Pope Belte.

The Master of All Machines Church planned to build a wall, a Great Wall, within the Blood and Flesh Court.

Although Richard and Ulysses were confident in the outcome of their battles, no one knew how long they would last. Without defensive works to hinder them, and without Goblins completely transformed into Miracle Monks, they would definitely be breached by the army of Abyss Demons.

If the Abyss Pollution spread in this world, the World Origin would become weak, and the blessing Richard would receive would get smaller and smaller.

Therefore, essential defense constructions were indispensable.

Under Frank's authorization, these trains majestically entered the core area of the Blood and Flesh Court. During this, several shepherds from the Lord of Flesh Church raised objections, but they were ruthlessly suppressed by Frank.

Unlike the Mechanical Court, the Lord of Flesh Church did not have Royal Court Faction and Mechanical Faction splits; all members of the Lord of Flesh Church were from the Royal Court Faction. Or rather, the Lord of Flesh faction.

Thus, within the Church, Frank, the Great Shepherd, held absolute authority and power. Anyone who questioned his orders was either expelled from the Church to establish their own sect or mercilessly purged by him.

As the construction of the defenses began, the military preparations naturally kicked off as well.

On Ulysses' suggestion, the production of Biological Puppets, which were customary in the Blood and Flesh Court and were akin to Synthetic Beasts but even lower in grade, was halted.

"The Abyss are masters at manipulating flesh; your creatures would defect on the battlefield at the sight of them."

Aside from the Biological Puppets, the plan to produce War Beasts was also halted, but this time it was Richard who called a stop.

As an Alchemy Master, Richard could not tolerate such a waste of resources on his subordinate's part. In his eyes, the War Beasts of the Lord of Flesh Church were like low-grade Synthetic Beasts with too much water or flour added.

It was hard to imagine how the Goblins found the right path and then stood still.

However, aside from these two things, the technology of the Lord of Flesh Church was still pretty good. Especially the Flesh Factories built upon War Beast technology, which greatly shocked Richard.

These Goblins were crazy enough to transform a War Beast into a factory, thus achieving completely automated production.

Even Wizards had not done such a thing.

Furthermore, the Flesh Cultivation Prosthetics of the Lord of Flesh Church was also an excellent tool.

Flesh Cultivation Prosthetics were a strange armament that merged flesh technologies with Crystal Stone Technology; it looked like a metal box at ordinary times, but once activated, the armament would automatically parasitize onto the host, becoming a part of the host.

These prosthetics range from enhancing strength to long-range attacks, and even exclusive tentacle suits for nobles, boasting a wide variety.

Richard singled out a set of standard armaments from these weapons and modified their production process, boosting their power while reducing their manufacturing costs.

Under Frank's orders, the entire Blood and Flesh Court's armory sprang into action. Those Transformed Knights scattered across the lands were also positioned along the defenses, ready to counter any surge from the Abyss.

As it was with the Blood and Flesh Court, the Mechanical Court was not idle either. Compared to the Blood and Flesh Court's technology, it was the Mechanical Court's prosthetic technology that served as the main force against the Abyss.

Under Tai'er's command, a vast number of factories began adjusting their assembly lines in preparation for armament production. Sealed mines were reopened, and roaring trains laden with tons of ore entered the factory cities.

In those cities, a multitude of Crystal Stone Signal Towers were being transformed. Richard's newly designed signal towers were rapidly replacing the old ones.

Crystal projection technology had also become the primary entertainment for the workforce, promoted by the Miracle Sect.

In such an immediate period, due to two sentences from one man and one bird, an entire world began to operate at an astonishing speed.

...

Mechanical Court, Royal Capital.

The Mechanical Court's Royal Capital was a mystery to most lifeforms within the Mechanical Court. On the map, one could see that the Royal Capital was at the center of the Court. But when they switched to the railway map, they noticed that not a single track led to the Royal Capital among the vast web of railways in the Mechanical Court.

All resources from the outside were transferred to ancient sailboats near the Royal Capital and brought into this age-old city via maritime routes.

From afar, the Royal Capital, the oldest city of the Mechanical Court, was as exquisite as a work of art.

The ancient and magnificent pure-white palaces shone like pearls on a crown of black iron.

But at this moment, the serene peace within this jewel had vanished.

"What the hell is that bastard up to?"

In a lavishly decorated hall, an elderly yet still strikingly handsome Earth Goblin tossed a letter onto the table.

Beside him, several other aged Earth Goblins looked equally grim.

"The entire Court's factories are being activated, numerous sealed mines are reopening... This is war, Peson. That bastard wants to wage a war!"

Called Peson, the Earth Goblin spun around, his tone as if singing an opera.

"War? Who is he warring against? Us? Or the domains of those fallen ones? Reports say his trains have already entered the territories of those fallen... This is defiance! Rebellion!"

At this accusation, rage appeared on the faces of all the Earth Goblins present.

They were nobles, born nobles, and those lowlifes serving them was already a great privilege; yet they dared to be dissatisfied!

Damn lowlifes.

But as they contemplated whether to use the more dangerous Ancient Heritage to show those lowlifes who ruled this world, a subtle but chilling pressure descended upon them.

As they sensed this pressure, all Earth Goblins, regardless of status, ceased their actions.

Disbelieving, they turned towards the center of the Royal Capital, then knelt with reverence.

And to whom they bowed, a towering figure was slowly opening his eyes upon his throne.

Rising from his throne, most of his formidable height of over five meters was Crystal. He gazed eastward, his eyes filled with profound sadness.

"My brother, have you ultimately failed to withstand the corrosion of the Abyss?"

Just as Ulysses had predicted, the Mechanical Court's Divine King awoke completely on the seventh day after the fall of the Blood and Flesh Court.

This nominal ruler of the Court had spent most of the past ten millennia in slumber.

The power of the Complete Lord was both a blessing and a curse. Having received his power meant shouldering the duty of guarding the Abyss.

The power of the Abyss would tempt them eternally.

To resist this temptation, the Mechanical Court's Divine King chose to sleep. Only by letting his soul fall into dormancy could the Abyss's power fail to locate him, and thus, the temptation would cease to exist.

He did not know what his brother had chosen, but whatever it was, it was already too late.

With a step forward, his figure appeared in the Royal Capital's council hall, and as he took his place on the throne in the innermost part of the hall, a melodious bell tone echoed throughout the Royal Capital.

He had slumbered for a long while, issuing only vague oracles, and was unaware of the Court's circumstances.

Now, to oppose the Abyss, he needed to acquaint himself with his domain.

Perhaps with the help of the Ancient Heritage, his descendants had already created a civilization even more splendid than the ancients.
