With Ope Ope no Mi in Hunter x Hunter

Chapter 265: Chapter 264: Doctor Strange (Conclusion)

"How do you feel about Robin?" Ada whispered softly after the night's passion, leaning against Daniel with a voice as gentle as a spring breeze.

"I just feel sorry for what she's been through," Daniel replied, sensing a slight chill in Ada's tone despite her warm words.

"Is that so? Just pity?" Ada continued, her voice low but pointed. "You took her out of her world, gave her these wonderful things, and I've never seen you be so generous with anyone else. If I'm not mistaken, Stark doesn't even know about this witch's elixir, does he?"

Daniel found himself momentarily at a loss for words. To say he had no feelings for Robin would be a lie, but admitting it openly in front of Ada was another matter entirely. He could sense that denying it outright would only make things worse.

"Are you saying you have desires but lack the courage to act on them?" Ada teased, a slight smirk on her lips. "Don't worry, I won't mind. Honestly, when I first met you, I thought you might be... different."

"Different how?" Daniel asked, curiosity piqued despite the situation.

"You tell me," Ada replied, leaning closer. "I did my research on you, remember? All these years, you've never been involved with any woman, despite your looks and wealth. With all that going for you, most men would have had their fair share of flings by now. I assumed you were... well, not interested in women."

It didn't take long for Daniel to understand what Ada meant. In the U.S., it's common for high schoolers to start dating early. A guy with Daniel's looks, wealth, and physique could easily have a hundred notches on his belt by now. Look at someone like Tony Stark, who had been a notorious playboy since his teenage years. Stark had been with countless women, many of them models from the covers of fashion magazines. His lifestyle was practically a revolving door of beautiful women.

Compared to that, Daniel's track record with women was surprisingly sparse. Even in the world of superheroes, this kind of restraint was rare.

"To think you'd say that about me," Daniel retorted, playfully wrapping his arms around Ada. "Maybe I should show you what I'm really capable of tonight."

The next day, Daniel was in high spirits. After gathering Ada and Robin, he began explaining the concept of Nen to them, sharing its secrets and potential.

"Nen? I didn't expect something like this to exist," Ada mused, clearly impressed. Despite her earlier experience with the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, which had already expanded her understanding of power, the revelations about Nen left her astounded.

"Let's visit that world," Daniel suggested. While they could train Nen in other worlds, starting in the Hunter x Hunter world would provide a better environment for them.

**Saba City.**

After arriving in the Hunter x Hunter world, Daniel used his Nen aura to open Ada and Robin's aura nodes, activating their Nen abilities. He then taught them the various techniques and left them to train on their own.

Daniel wasn't worried about their safety. Both women had survived in dangerous situations before, and with the addition of teleportation spells and their nanotech suits, they were well-equipped to handle most threats.

Unlike Tony Stark, who couldn't provide nanotech suits to everyone—especially not to his fiancée, Pepper—Daniel had no such restrictions. Tony had to follow certain rules, but Daniel was free to arm his allies as he saw fit.

"Your reputation is growing quickly," Daniel noted after returning to the Marvel world. The Avengers were gaining fame, and Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver had developed a strong fan base. Quicksilver, in particular, had many admirers, especially female fans curious about his speed. Despite Scarlet Witch keeping him in check, Quicksilver managed to charm many people.

As for Spider-Man, despite being a fellow superhero, his life was far less glamorous.

"So, that guy finally got into trouble. Does this mean the Sorcerer Supreme is about to change hands?" Daniel remarked, reading about a recent car accident involving the famous neurosurgeon Stephen Strange. The crash had severely injured Strange's hands, potentially ending his career as a surgeon—a significant loss for the medical field.

While Strange's hands could still function after several surgeries, they were no longer steady enough for the precision required in surgery. This was a devastating blow to Strange, whose life had revolved around his surgical skill.

Reading the report, Daniel felt a sense of relief. Strange's accident signaled the beginning of a new era, with the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme set to pass on. It wasn't that Daniel wished harm upon the Ancient One—who was nearly impossible to kill, in any case—but with her stepping down, Daniel would finally have more freedom in his actions.

For a long time, Daniel had been cautious in exploring other dimensions, knowing that the Ancient One could intervene at any moment. Traversing the multiverse wasn't without risks, and if it were completely safe, more of Kamar-Taj's disciples would be doing it.

This caution was why Daniel spent extended periods in each world, studying and mastering its unique power systems while keeping an eye on the Ancient One's reactions. He doubted that his dimensional travels had gone unnoticed, given the powerful wards surrounding Earth under Kamar-Taj's protection.

"Requesting nanotech surgery for recovery? What a joke," Daniel muttered, nearly jumping out of his seat when he saw a particular email. It was from Helen Zhao, mentioning that Strange had requested nanotech surgery to repair his hands. While nanotech medical procedures weren't widely available due to their cost, top-tier experts like Strange knew about them.

Strange had spent most of his fortune on previous treatments, even selling his luxurious home. The only valuable item he still possessed was a watch given to him by his girlfriend. With his resources nearly depleted, Strange was in dire financial straits, and paying for nanotech surgery was beyond his reach.

Despite being a world-renowned neurosurgeon with a high income, Strange's extravagant lifestyle—luxury cars, world travel, fine dining—had drained his finances. His situation was a stark contrast to how someone with a similar income might live in the East, where saving is more common.

Strange's assets, once worth a fortune, had been sold at a loss in his desperate bid to pay for treatments. Even his girlfriend, who had supported him financially, couldn't stay with him after it became clear his hands couldn't be fully healed.

As a last resort, Strange had approached Helen Zhao, offering to pay for the surgery with future earnings once he was back to work. Given his skill, it wasn't an unreasonable offer. Helen, who was kind-hearted and sympathetic to Strange's plight, agreed to help him. If not for company policies, she might have even offered the surgery for free.

The cost of nanotech surgery was astronomical, but for those with the right connections—like the Avengers—it was more accessible. Coulson, for instance, could have easily had his severed hand restored by Stark but had chosen to use a prosthetic instead.

Shocked by the email, Daniel immediately called Helen Zhao. Allowing Strange to regain full use of his hands could prevent him from becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, which would be disastrous for Earth's defense against mystical threats.

"Decline his request. I'll explain everything later," Daniel urged Helen.

"But I've already treated him," Helen replied, her voice filled with concern. "He was in such a desperate state, and you said this technology should be used to help people."

Daniel's mind went blank. Strange had already been treated. Without his injuries, would Strange ever go to Kamar-Taj to study magic? He had only gone there out of sheer desperation, seeking a cure for his hands.

If Strange no longer needed healing, what reason would he have to seek out the Ancient One? This development was a serious setback.

"This is bad. I shouldn't have introduced nanotech so early," Daniel thought, frustrated. With Strange's hands healed, the chance of him becoming Doctor Strange seemed slim.

"Should I go talk to the Ancient One? But how do I explain this? Or maybe I should just pretend I don't know... but that might not work."

"Or perhaps I could convince Strange to go to Kamar-Taj anyway. After all, magic is related to the soul—he might find that fascinating as a doctor."

"Without Strange, maybe the Ancient One won't have to die after all. It would be inconvenient having someone constantly watching over me, but with her around, we'd have a better shot against Thanos." Even though Strange was extraordinarily talented, his brief training period left him ill-prepared to face Thanos. The Ancient One, however, was a different story.

Daniel spent several days mulling over his options, unable to decide how to fix this.

Then, as he was still contemplating his next move, a sudden, oppressive sensation hit him. Something was terribly wrong.

"An explosion? Where?" Daniel quickly checked the news and saw a report of an explosion in a building—specifically, the New York Sanctum, one of Kamar-Taj's three sanctuaries.

"An attack on the Sanctum? Could it be Kaecilius?" Daniel wondered, opening a portal to appear just outside the New York Sanctum.

Sure enough, it was Kaecilius and his followers. But before Daniel could intervene, he heard the voices of Wong and Mordo shouting for the Sorcerer Supreme.

"This can't be happening," Daniel muttered as he rushed to the scene. There, in a pool of blood, lay the Ancient One, clad in her signature yellow robes. Wong was devastated, and Mordo's face twisted with conflicting emotions as he stared at her.

"This is no joke."

"It's

not a joke," a familiar voice echoed in Daniel's ears. The world around him seemed to freeze: cars, people, even an overhead airplane—all motionless.

"Ancient One? What's going on?" Daniel turned to see the spirit form of the Ancient One. Beside her floated the Cloak of Levitation, which had emerged from the ruins of the New York Sanctum.

The Ancient One extended her hand, holding the Eye of Agamotto, offering it to Daniel.

"Me?" Daniel pointed at himself, dumbfounded.

"Yes," the Ancient One replied with a serene smile.

"I can't. I'm not ready for this," Daniel protested, shaking his head. The idea of becoming the Sorcerer Supreme had never crossed his mind. He wasn't prepared to take on such a mantle, let alone step into the role meant for Doctor Strange.
