Chapter 263: Chapter 262: Doctor Strange (Part 1)
"That's Dragon Lance!" Killua exclaimed as he gazed at the countless golden arrows filling the sky above the Royal Palace of the Republic of East Gorteau.
"The range of this attack is truly enormous," Daniel Davis remarked, watching the golden arrows rain down on the palace. The Royal Palace was no small structure, yet it was turned into ruins under the onslaught of the attack.
Neferpitou, sensing the attack with her powerful *En*, tried to intercept it, but the attack was too widespread for her to stop. She had no choice but to charge at Netero, only to be sent flying by a strike from his Hundred-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva.
"Let's move out!" After the Dragon Lance attack dissipated, Morau emerged from the Four-Dimensional Apartment and rushed toward his designated target—Shaiapouf.
"Is that Youpi?" Daniel's and Morau's mission was to draw away the three Royal Guards, allowing Netero to focus solely on fighting the Ant King, Meruem.
Initially, Daniel opposed this plan and suggested they all team up against Meruem. However, Netero insisted on his strategy, determined to face Meruem alone. Seeing that Netero was resolute in his decision, Daniel had no choice but to respect the plan.
Even though Daniel had demonstrated considerable strength, enough to stand toe-to-toe with Netero, their fight would never escalate to a life-and-death battle. Netero craved such a battle, which was why he proposed the conditions to Jing and Beyond. He would only allow them to explore the Dark Continent without interference if he died. Otherwise, they would have to go through the official application process, which, given the V5's stance on the Dark Continent, would likely result in a mere guided tour—a prospect Jing and Beyond found unacceptable.
However, to Netero's disappointment, Beyond had no intention of killing him. Decades had passed without any such attempt, leaving Netero feeling let down.
Unable to dissuade Netero, Daniel resolved to defeat Youpi quickly so he could help Netero afterward. With his assistance, he hoped to prevent Netero from going down with the Ant King.
This decision also made Daniel abandon the idea of bringing Netero to the One Piece world. Although the thought of a battle between Netero's Hundred-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva and Sengoku's Great Buddha was intriguing, Daniel had no intention of allowing Nen to spread in that world. Given Netero's talent, Daniel had no doubt he could reach the level of a Yonko, and once there, Netero might try to teach Nen to others—a scenario Daniel wanted to avoid.
"So, it's you insects?" Youpi stood alone at the entrance to the stairs leading to the second floor, blocking the path of Daniel, Gon, Killua, Knuckle, and Shoot.
According to the plan, Morau would handle one Royal Guard alone, as his Nen was well-suited for stalling. Daniel would handle another, while Gon, Killua, and the others would take on the last one.
However, since Neferpitou had been sent flying by Netero, only two Royal Guards were present, simplifying things.
"You guys go help Morau. I'll take care of this one," Daniel instructed.
"Uncle, are you sure you can handle him alone?" Killua asked, worried as he felt the overwhelming aura emanating from Youpi. The sheer power of Youpi's Nen made Killua and the others tremble. If not for their resolve, they might have fled.
Nobunaga Hazama, who had been visibly shaken in previous encounters, wasn't as terrified this time, thanks to Daniel's presence. Nobunaga didn't have to delve too deeply into the palace.
"You're all staying here!" Youpi, enraged by their apparent disregard for him, gathered his powerful Nen into his fist and swung it at the nearest target, Killua.
Boom.
Before Killua could react, Daniel appeared beside him, meeting Youpi's punch with his own. The moment their fists collided, the resulting explosion of Nen sent Gon and the others flying backward, unable to withstand the shockwave. Only Killua, shielded by Daniel's presence, was unaffected.
"Get out of here. You'll only be in the way," Daniel said, grabbing Killua by the neck and tossing him out of the room.
Seeing this, Gon and the others quickly retreated, knowing that they were outmatched.
Boom.
As they reached the corridor, they heard a massive crash. Turning around, they saw a red figure fly through a broken wall. Then, they saw Daniel emerge, surrounded by a six-meter-tall golden figure with six arms and a solemn expression.
Facing Chimera Ants, Daniel didn't hold back and immediately activated his Thousand-Armed Guanyin. Youpi was undeniably powerful in the Hunter world, stronger than Zeno and Silva Zoldyck. However, his Nen control was crude, which is why Gon, Killua, and Knuckle could hold their own against him in the original story.
Among the Ant King and his Royal Guards, Neferpitou was the most skilled in Nen. The others, including Meruem, were less proficient. If Meruem had fully mastered Nen techniques, even Netero's Poor Man's Rose might not have been able to kill him.
It wasn't that Meruem could withstand the explosion, but with proper Nen control, he could have avoided the blast altogether.
"Next, Shaiapouf," Daniel said, retracting his Thousand-Armed Guanyin and looking toward Morau's location. His gaze then shifted to Knuckle and Shoot, whose Nen abilities were intriguing.
Knuckle's ability, *Hakoware*, summoned a mascot that lent its aura to the opponent as interest-bearing debt. As long as the debt wasn't repaid, the opponent couldn't harm Knuckle. If the debt exceeded the opponent's total Nen, they would be forced into a month-long state of *Zetsu*.
In a balanced fight, Knuckle's ability was advantageous, but against a far superior opponent, it was nearly useless.
Similarly, Shoot's *Hotel Rafflesia* was unique. Although it didn't directly harm the opponent, it allowed him to store severed body parts in a pocket dimension.
After a brief glance at the two, Daniel leaped toward Morau's location. There, Morau had Shaiapouf trapped in a smoke prison.
"I've taken care of my side. Open it up, and I'll finish him off," Daniel called out.
Morau dispersed the smoke prison, revealing himself and Shaiapouf.
"Youpi was defeated? How could this be?" Shaiapouf was shocked. He knew Youpi's strength well—he was the strongest of the Royal Guards.
While Shaiapouf was stunned, Daniel didn't hesitate. He instantly appeared in front of Shaiapouf and delivered a powerful punch to his chest.
"Huh?" Daniel paused, surprised as Shaiapouf exploded into countless tiny insects, each the size of a bee.
*Beelzebub*, one of Shaiapouf's abilities, allowed him to split into these micro-sized insects, effectively dispersing powerful attacks. In a way, it granted him immunity to physical damage.
As the tiny Shaiapouf clones scattered, Daniel quickly unleashed a barrage of punches, sending shockwaves through the air and destroying many of the clones. However, many more escaped.
"Didn't hit the real one," Daniel muttered, realizing that the original Shaiapouf was still out there. With so many identical clones, it was impossible to tell which one was the original. If all of them were the real Shaiapouf, his ability would be overpowered.
Daniel's assumption was correct. Shaiapouf's *Beelzebub* had one true body controlling the rest. The clones could shrink down to nano size, but one always remained the size of a bee. This made it difficult to spot the original, especially since normal vision couldn't detect something so small. Even *Gyo* couldn't help.
After a moment of frustration, Daniel decided against chasing the scattered Shaiapouf. He couldn't be sure which direction held the original.
"Sorry, but I can't stay to help. I need to assist the Chairman. Can you handle things here?" Daniel asked Morau.
"Don't worry. Leave this to us," Morau replied, giving Daniel a thumbs-up.
Satisfied, Daniel immediately headed toward the location where Netero and Meruem had been sent by Zeno's Dragon Head technique.
"The King," Daniel thought, starting his move as Neferpitou, having recovered from Netero's blow, raced back at top speed.
"They should be fine on their own," Daniel mused, worried for Killua and the others but not slowing down.
"Hundred-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, Ninety-Nine Palms!" When Daniel arrived at the battlefield, he witnessed Netero unleash his ultimate technique. All of Guanyin's hands struck Meruem, who was being juggled between the palms like a ball.
Yet despite the overwhelming force, Meruem remained unscathed. His beast-like body and vast aura made him invulnerable to Netero's attacks, despite his lack of advanced Nen techniques.
"I can't break through his defense." Netero's Ninety-Nine Palms was his strongest move, yet it failed to harm Meruem. Even his Zero Hand wouldn't fare any better.
Nen is a manifestation of life force, granting both longevity and immense power. By consuming life energy, one can unleash devastating attacks. Netero's Zero Hand was such an ability.
But
the power gap between him and Meruem was too vast. Even the Zero Hand wouldn't change the outcome. In the original story, even Gon's deadly vow-powered transformation wouldn't have defeated Meruem. Although Gon's potential was immense, his transformation was short-lived. Against Neferpitou, he could win, but against Meruem, he'd be outmatched once his time ran out.
Moreover, Gon's potential path had already been altered by Daniel's presence, making his future uncertain.
"Why are you here?" Netero asked, his hands still clasped together, as he saw Daniel approach.
"Chairman, let me handle this," Daniel said, smiling as he stepped in front of Netero to face Meruem.
"You're no match for him. Get out of here."
"Don't worry, Chairman. Today, I'll show you my true power," Daniel replied, turning his attention to Meruem, who remained seated on the ground, unscathed by Netero's relentless assault.
"Must we fight?" Meruem asked as he stood up. Though he had passively endured Netero's attacks earlier, his demeanor shifted upon seeing Daniel.
"Indeed."
"It seems I'll have to immobilize you both before we can talk," Meruem said, unleashing his overwhelming aura.
Meruem's aura was far greater than that of all three Royal Guards combined.
Facing such immense power, Daniel remained calm, though Netero's expression shifted slightly. Even he had underestimated Meruem's true strength.
