Chapter 74: Chapter 74: For Now, You Four Are Enough
Behind Frostwolf Castle, David escorted the earth witch Hill back to the wooden cabin.
Hill was still wearing the hooded robe, concealing her identity entirely.
"You'll stay here for the time being," David said patiently. "The Gray Wolves are stationed nearby to protect the area, so no one will come close."
Hill's situation was far more sensitive than Amy's. If the Church discovered her, it would inevitably connect her rescue to the ice sorcerer. Fortunately, few in Frostwolf Ridge knew Hill personally, and once David dealt with the Blackleaf Viscount and anyone else who might recognize her, there would be no risk of exposure.
In this world, unlike his previous one where information spread rapidly through the internet, making someone disappear was not difficult if done carefully.
"Thank you, Master Sorcerer," Hill said with a grateful bow.
She was filled with gratitude for her savior, who had not only rescued her but also provided a safe haven. Alongside her gratitude was an unshakable sense of admiration and reverence.
After ensuring Hill was settled, David returned to Frostwolf Castle.
He had departed the previous night, but no one besides the Gray Wolf Knight and his four wives knew of his absence.
"David, you're finally back!" Leah exclaimed, rushing to him to check for injuries.
Amy, Reina, and Cynthia also hurried over.
"Don't worry, I'm fine," David said with a smile.
After confirming that he was unharmed, the four women relaxed. "Did you manage to rescue the witch?" Leah asked.
"She's safe now, staying in the wooden cabin," David replied.
Hearing this, the women exchanged intrigued glances.
However, David had no intention of taking them to meet Hill just yet—he had more pressing matters to attend to. After all, today was someone's turn, and he couldn't delay any longer.
"David, don't…" Leah murmured shyly.
"Trust me, it'll be fine. Just try it," David coaxed gently.
Eventually, Leah, who always indulged him, nodded hesitantly.
"Amy, come here."
"Reina, I love your boldness."
"Amy, are you alright?"
"Mm."
After an intense training session, David was thoroughly satisfied. Taking advantage of the subsequent Sage Time, he guided his wives into meditation.
In the eastern tower, Cynthia's face was flushed red.
As the sounds from the other side finally subsided, she let out a long sigh of relief.
This was her first time overhearing the lord with all three of her elder sisters together. Although David had invited her to join them, she had fled in embarrassment.
How could they agree to such a thing?
Leah was one thing, and Amy didn't surprise her much. But Reina—proud, aloof Reina—had also agreed?
Curiosity mixed with disbelief on Cynthia's face as she tried to process it.
"The lord is truly… something else," she muttered, exhaling deeply to calm herself. Closing her eyes, she began her own meditation.
Although meditating alone wasn't as effective as engaging directly with the lord, any improvement was worthwhile, and she didn't want to waste her time.
The next morning, David rose early as usual.
Firedance was already waiting outside, as she often did.
Seeing him emerge, her cheeks flushed slightly as she stepped forward with his clothes, assisting him with his attire.
"How's your progress with the basic meditation technique?" David asked.
David had entrusted the basic meditation technique to Firedance and Waterlily, suspecting the sisters might have unique potential.
"We haven't managed to enter a meditative state yet," Firedance admitted with a slight shake of her head.
The sisters, who primarily served the ladies of the house, often accompanied them to the wooden cabin. They were already aware of Amy and Cynthia's identities as witches and had come to see witches as less frightening.
When David had asked if they wanted to become witches, they had eagerly agreed, leading him to give them the basic meditation technique. Unfortunately, becoming a witch was incredibly difficult for ordinary people.
"Don't rush. Even if you can't condense spiritual power, meditation will still help calm your mind and nurture your spirit," David said reassuringly, unfazed by their lack of progress.
For regular individuals to become witches, they needed to first condense a spiritual seed—a feat that required both innate talent and a specific ritual. This information had come from the witches' network, but even they had no definitive method for forming spiritual seeds.
The difficulty of becoming a witch was one reason sorcery was fading, with its traditions and knowledge teetering on the brink of extinction.
David's true goal in having Firedance and Waterlily practice meditation was to awaken any latent witch power they might possess.
"Thank you, sir," Firedance said gratefully.
The sisters had gradually become more at ease around David, thanks to his subtle influence and their growing understanding of the world through books.
Watching the maid sisters busily tidy the room and dining hall, David leaned against the doorway with a thoughtful expression.
"David, when are you going to claim Firedance and Waterlily?" Leah teased with a playful smile.
David shook his head with a laugh. "There's no rush."
In his eyes, the sisters were already his women. However, he didn't want to act prematurely. Their current state wasn't yet what he desired.
Moreover, having just welcomed Cynthia as his fourth wife, David felt content for now. His current abilities gained significant boosts from the four of them, and he saw no reason to complicate matters further.
For the time being, he wanted to focus on honing the abilities he already had before branching out.
This applied to Hill as well—David intended to cultivate a bond with her first before deciding whether to
take things further.
"For now, you four are enough," David said with a hearty laugh, his sincerity evident.
