Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Creuset, You’ve Outplayed Me
As an experienced radar specialist, Su Lei was seated to He Kui's left. A temporary seat had been installed, along with a screen and keyboard connected directly to the mobile suit's radar.
"The signal is up."
Su Lei's voice held a rare note of tension, her usual playfulness replaced by a focused, professional tone.
Seeing his former superior so serious, He Kui turned to the screen, watching as the signal from Ptolemy gradually intensified.
"Begin the breach. Su Lei, cover me."
The two of them initiated the hack simultaneously: Su Lei as a distraction with a traditional virus attack, while He Kui launched a quantum virus as the main assault.
"Got it."
Their fingers flew over the keyboards, leaving trails of afterimages as they worked. Gradually, the defensive system's blue hue shifted to red.
"Our core system is under attack!"
The security officer in Ptolemy's control room reported with alarm.
"What?"
The commander froze, then his face darkened. Not only had their counterattack failed, but now their base was under cyber-assault. They were clearly prepared for this.
"Hold them off!"
"We're trying!"
The programmer worked furiously, managing to stop the breach at 42%, slowly pushing the attackers back.
"We've regained control."
The programmer breathed a sigh of relief.
"Excellent."
The commander nodded approvingly. "Where's the entry point?"
"Port 2."
"Dispatch the internal security team, and locate the infiltrators through internal surveillance."
"Lock down Port 2 until we've identified the infiltrators."
The commander had barely finished speaking when the system they thought was secure went fully red again, and the base's power grid was swiftly sabotaged.
"We're in."
He Kui's voice was flat, devoid of emotion, as he confirmed the success of his hack.
"Power to the light shield system has been cut off."
"The emergency and primary power systems are separate; you have five minutes."
He Kui's radar was linked to the Eternal's flagship.
"Understood."
Creuset acknowledged, narrowing his eyes from his position on Oracle.
So, the National Defense Council was aware of He Kui's quantum virus capabilities, and likely knew of the quantum firewall too. His prior tests now seemed questionable. Was it him?
Even with his identity under constant threat of exposure, Creuset's lips curved into a smile. If He Kui was behind this, he had severely underestimated him. Perhaps He Kui was more of a threat than even that so-called "super Coordinator."
"Rau Le Creuset, Oracle, advancing."
Creuset's tone remained cold.
If they could take Ptolemy, the Atlantic Federation's main resistance would collapse, and they would be trapped on Earth. Peace could finally be within reach.
But that wasn't what he wanted.
In the end, humanity needed only a single spark to burn itself alive. As Oracle surged toward Ptolemy, Creuset glanced in the direction of He Kui's flagship.
To reignite the flames of war, he would have to escalate the situation once more.
One option would be to eliminate He Kui, a figure of immense renown. With him gone, ZAFT would no longer have an excuse for peace.
Yet He Kui's research represented a glimmer of hope after Creuset's own failure.
Of course, this didn't mean he wouldn't act against He Kui; if He Kui's death brought greater value than his contributions, Creuset would make his move.
With that thought, he glanced behind him at the blood-red Eternal and the massive Rebirth Gundam piloted by the madman Asher Gray.
"Asher Gray, you understand your position if they succeed here, don't you?"
Creuset's communication reached Asher's cockpit.
"I can disable the bomb in your body."
"You can continue your revenge, making those who took that girl's life pay."
Asher remained silent, but the madness in his eyes was gradually replaced by unbridled hatred—a hatred intense enough to consume everything.
"How did you know?"
The girl he had once adored had been mercilessly killed by PLANT's high command—a lively, innocent girl.
The memory of that pain felt like his soul being torn apart.
In truth, his soul had been shattered.
He had only managed to kill the culprit's son before they strapped him with a bomb, under the guise of atonement. He endured it all to continue his revenge.
"You only need to answer."
Creuset's voice was icy.
"Fine!"
"Then let's begin."
Hearing Asher's response, a cruel smile crept onto Creuset's lips.
Meanwhile, He Kui was still attempting to take control of the six positron cannons, when a series of chaotic sounds flooded the comms—explosions, screams, and other noises combined into a nightmarish cacophony.
"Captain, what's going on?"
He Kui asked over the comms.
"Rebirth Gundam has suddenly turned traitor! It's in high-speed MA mode, slaughtering our fleet!"
It was truly a massacre. The Rebirth Gundam's high-speed MA form was similar to the transformed Aegis, with limbs folded forward into an arrowhead configuration. In this mode, it could pierce through enemy battleships.
The ends of its limbs emitted beams capable of high-speed slicing—perfect for bypassing light shields. Positioned within their ranks, the Rebirth Gundam was difficult to counter without risking friendly fire, and the deployed GAT-X models couldn't match its speed. The result was a one-sided slaughter.
"Who's piloting it?"
"Classified. We don't know."
He Kui frowned at the captain's answer. If Asher Gray was still the pilot, wouldn't he be afraid of the bomb inside him?
But the evidence was clear. Not only was he unafraid, but he hadn't been blown up.
"And what about Oracle?"
He Kui quickly opened the ship's external monitor. In the distance, the ships shielding Eternal were being destroyed one by one, sacrificing themselves to protect the flagship.
Meanwhile, Oracle was heading straight for the heart of Ptolemy.
It seemed Creuset intended for them to weaken each other.
At this rate, their new ship wouldn't last long. And with each allied vessel lost, He Kui's control over Ptolemy weakened.
Watching his signal control over the enemy base slipping, He Kui knew that unless h
e acted quickly, it wouldn't just be a mutual defeat—they could be completely wiped out.
They had, once again, fallen right into Creuset's trap.
