Chapter 163 Blood Rose_3
"If death is so pleasant, I wouldn't mind dying like this to avoid more suffering. Another glass, please," Li Xiu insisted.
The Demon Spirit said nothing, and poured another glass for Li Xiu.
Watching Li Xiu drink almost half the glass in one gulp, the Demon Spirit smiled and said, "The reason this wine is called Blood Rose is because it's brewed from the Blood Roses of Black Death City. There are only so many Blood Roses in Black Death City, and only this one bottle of wine was made. To be able to drink it is a kind of blessing."
"In that case, I must have another glass." Li Xiu finished it in one gulp and placed the glass before the Demon Spirit.
The Demon Spirit looked at Li Xiu with a bit of surprise, his eyes were somewhat strange, as if confused, yet somewhat appreciative.
Pouring another glass for Li Xiu, the Demon Spirit continued, "Blood Roses of Black Death City are different from Blood Roses elsewhere."
"How are they different?" Li Xiu's face was a bit flushed from the drink, his heart pounding and his brain beginning to feel excited.
"Countless Demon Spirits once died within Black Death City, practically turning rivers of blood. The Demon Spirit Blood soaked the entire city, and the plants here absorbed it to grow, making them different from ordinary plants. Blood Rose is one of them; ordinary roses absorbed Demon Spirit Blood and became Blood Roses. The wine made from them is essentially the epitome of Demon Spirit's resentment and essence. It can promote growth and evolution in Demon Spirits, but if humans drink it..." The Demon Spirit paused, looking at Li Xiu without continuing.
"What happens if humans drink it?" Li Xiu asked coolly.
"Probably die," the Demon Spirit said, looking at Li Xiu uncertainly.
Theoretically, upon drinking the second glass, Li Xiu should have died, but he seemed to have no problems apart from feeling a bit tipsy, which puzzled the Demon Spirit and piqued his interest.
"Since death is inevitable, I might as well drink a few more glasses." Li Xiu emptied his glass and held it before the Demon Spirit again.
The Blood Rose was indeed potent, as Li Xiu's Spiritual Force was unlike others; ordinary wine wouldn't make him feel tipsy. Yet this wine made him feel slightly elevated, his spirit somewhat excited, while his body felt floating inexplicably.
"It's gone." The Demon Spirit turned the bottle upside down and shook it, indeed finding no wine left, not even a drop.
"Aren't there plenty over there?" Li Xiu pointed at the wine cabinet.
"Those cannot be drunk today," the Demon Spirit shook his head.
"Why can't they be drunk today?" Li Xiu asked the Demon Spirit with some confusion.
"Because if you drink anymore, she'll die," said a woman's voice from the second floor.
"You want to kill her?" Li Xiu was slightly taken aback, this was not what he had expected.
He originally thought this Demon Spirit was one of the stone hut's owners, but it turned out not to be the case. Moreover, the Demon Spirit was not here to hunt him, but rather to kill the owner of the stone hut.
This discovery left Li Xiu speechless. Had he known, he wouldn't have joined this mess; he should have stayed outside obediently.
If these two Demon Spirits end up defeating each other, perhaps he could take advantage of their loss—all because of that unreliable Unparalleled King.
"It's all because of that foolish Unparalleled King that I'm in this mess; I've been foolish enough to trust it," Li Xiu sighed inwardly.
Fortunately, despite drinking so much Blood Rose, Li Xiu did not feel any signs of dying; instead, he felt his physical condition seemed a bit stronger, his Primordial Embryo Quality even rising to 1.6 and still showing signs of increase.
Li Xiu secretly guessed it might have something to do with the Demon Spirit larva parasitizing within him.
Though the woman spoke from the second floor, she still did not come down.
The Demon Spirit did not answer Li Xiu's question but placed the bottle on the coffee table and headed up the wooden stairs to the second floor.
Li Xiu glanced at the wine bottles on the wine cabinet, giving up on the thought of taking them all, and slowly headed towards the door.
Of the three rules said by the Unparalleled King, Li Xiu had already broken two; if he doesn't leave now, should this Demon Spirit die, the next to face disaster would probably be him.
Should the Demon Spirit win and kill the Demon Spirit upstairs, it's quite possible it'd spare him no mercy either—better to slip away early.
But upon reaching the door, no matter how hard Li Xiu tried to pull, the door wouldn't budge, sweat even brimming on his forehead in haste.
Turning his head towards the wooden stairs, the Demon Spirit that had been drinking with him was already nowhere to be seen; it should have already stepped onto the second floor.
Yet the second floor was dead silent, without even the slightest sound.
Earlier, the sound of bathing could be heard, but now there's no sound, leaving one to wonder whether the two Demon Spirits have begun their battle.
Li Xiu studied the door for a while but still couldn't get it open.
The door wasn't locked, nor was there a bolt, yet no matter how hard Li Xiu tried, it just wouldn't open.
Li Xiu suspected it was because he violated two of the taboos mentioned by the Unparalleled King that he couldn't open the door to leave.
"This really is a calamity out of nowhere," Li Xiu felt helpless; no one would expect such a misfortune to occur.
While Li Xiu pondered how to escape, he suddenly heard the woman's voice again coming from the second floor.
"Weren't you enjoying your drinks just now? Why so urgent to leave now? Leaving without meeting the owner, that's not how guests should behave, is it?"
Hearing her voice, Li Xiu knew the Demon Spirit was likely finished, and he was even more surprised.
A Demon Spirit able to lift the city gate single-handedly wields terrifying power, but upon ascending to the second floor, he vanished silently; thinking about it sent chills down Li Xiu's spine.
"You're right, those are yours as my payment for the wine." Li Xiu placed the Demon Cores, Talent Gemstones, and other items on the nearby table.
"How can those trash be worth my bottle of Blood Rose?" the woman snorted coldly.
"What do you want then?" Li Xiu knew escaping was unlikely; he might leave his life here today.
"You like drinking, don't you? On the third row of the wine cabinet, fifth bottle from the right, drink it all, then you can leave or stay as you wish."
The woman's hoarse, magnetic voice came, causing Li Xiu to look toward the wine cabinet.
