When "God" Decides To Start Over

Chu Jun felt a chill down his spine: "Then will we..."

"Yes." Before Chu Jun could finish speaking, Li Xiu answered with certainty.

"How can you be sure we'll turn out like that... We're perfectly fine now with nothing wrong... Maybe we're much stronger than those Trial Takers... Our constitution and Light Energy might be enough to resist those virus-like demon spirits you mentioned..." Chu Jun wasn't really trying to argue with Li Xiu, he was just comforting himself.

"As long as we can't get out, that's the inevitable result. Actually, if we really can't get out, even if those virus-like demon spirits don't turn us into flesh-eating monsters, we'll starve to death here." Li Xiu said casually.

"That's true, but I'd rather starve to death than turn into that kind of monster." Chu Jun said with a bitter smile.

"If you don't want to die, then you can only find a way to go back." Li Xiu spoke as he summoned the Pink Nightmare and rode to the courtyard, observing the corpses inside.

Chu Jun wanted to follow him out but was stopped by Li Xiu.

"Don't come out. There's blood everywhere outside, and those virus-like demon spirits might invade through the blood." Li Xiu said.

Chu Jun immediately stopped, looking at Li Xiu from inside the hall.

Li Xiu didn't want to go out either, but he had no better options; he must find a way to go back, otherwise, ultimately both of them were doomed.

The Pink Nightmare trotted over the blood stains in the courtyard, heading towards the gate.

"Do you sense any demon spirits on the Pink Nightmare?" Li Xiu asked as he walked.

"No, no sign of demon spirits inside the Pink Nightmare." Chu Jun quickly replied.

Li Xiu was grateful he brought Chu Jun with him; otherwise, he might have died without knowing why.

At the courtyard gate, he saw it was open. Outside was a plaza, with more corpses lining up, which puzzled Li Xiu.

Judging by the states of the corpses, they haven't been dead for long, at most half a year to a year, and some looked like they died only one or two months ago.

Judging from the timeline, these Trial Takers were very likely brought in by Boss Qiu, but how did so many people end up in the Land of Trial?

Could it be they all had the skills to complete the final trial, and even if they did, how did they all manage to get the entry ticket by chance?

Li Xiu didn't believe so many people could have such luck unless the reward from the Golden Gate Trial Ground was easy to come by or would undoubtedly result in receiving an entry ticket.

Li Xiu previously wondered why rewards didn't include attributes and Demon Cores like regular rewards, now it seemed like it was likely to increase the chances of an entry ticket appearing.

Li Xiu wasn't sure why this Trial Ground was so unusual, but he didn't have the mental energy to ponder anymore; he had to figure out how to go back.

Riding the Pink Nightmare out of the courtyard, Li Xiu discovered it was indeed like a temple.

The courtyard they were in was the Left Courtyard of this temple-like building, with a corresponding Right Courtyard across the plaza.

Facing the plaza was an even more majestic Divine Hall, presumably the main hall here.

Unfortunately, the gates of the Right Courtyard and the main hall were tightly shut, and there was no telling what might be inside.

Opposite the main hall was a sealed gate, which should be the exit leading outside the temple, and naturally, Li Xiu wouldn't open that gate.

The temple must be akin to the Black Death City, and while inside, the Longevity Lamp would still follow him; if he left the temple, it might no longer follow, making it even harder to get out.

Although Li Xiu speculated that all Lands of Trial are interconnected, and perhaps reaching another Trial Ground might offer a chance to return, who knows how long one might walk to get there? Who knows how many terrifying unknown demon spirits lurk along the way?

Rather than betting on that elusive hope, it's better to find a way to survive and return here. At least they know there's a pervasive presence of small, invisible demon spirits throughout.

After a careful search of the plaza, Li Xiu found the temple very peculiar.

Usually, temples are adorned with many mysterious symbols or patterns, or perhaps statues and paintings.

But here, there's nothing, neither in the Left Courtyard nor the Right, and even on the main hall, not even a plaque.

Not to mention text, apart from the previously seen Divine Statue, there's not even a mural.

Only outside the main hall, there's a left and right pair of Gate Guardian Beasts, resembling the stone lions ancient mansions liked to place in pairs before their gates.

Unlike stone lions, these Gate Guardian Beasts curled their bodies, head to tail, lying on the ground, appearing asleep.

"No other demon spirits, so the ones to be eliminated must be those virus-like demon spirits. Once they're eliminated, could we use the Longevity Lamp to return?" Li Xiu pondered: "How can those virus-like demon spirits be killed?"

"If it's just ordinary viruses, high temperatures or alcohol or disinfectants might solve the problem; these, however, are demon spirits. But as a Trial Taker, my light energy level isn't high, and the range is limited, even if some virus-like demon spirits could be killed, it's hard to eliminate them all..."
