When Dragon Balls Descend Upon Marvel

Chapter 48: Chapter 48: S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Attention

The next day.

Triskelion Tower.

Inside the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, Phil Coulson entered Nick Fury's office carrying a new intelligence report.

As the door opened, Coulson stepped forward.

"Director, this is the latest intelligence gathered from surveillance on Smith Doyle, the Assassin Alliance, and the High Table."

Nick Fury didn't look at the papers. Instead, he turned to Coulson.

"Tell me the highlights."

Coulson began his report:

"There have been three direct conflicts between the Assassin Alliance and the High Table—two attacks by the High Table and one counterattack by the Alliance."

"Both sides have suffered casualties, but the High Table has lost a quarter of its power. Their losses are considerable. The Alliance's casualties are minimal."

"Based on our simulations, without external intervention, the High Table faces collapse."

"So far, based on observed actions and intelligence, the High Table has shown no signs of illegal tech or abilities. They pose no significant threat."

"As for the Assassin Alliance, suspicions of super soldier serum use have decreased. Besides Smith Doyle's extraordinary physical prowess, no other abnormal individuals have surfaced."

Nick Fury nodded:

"So it's more likely he's a unique case of mutation."

Coulson agreed:

"If they had a serum, I doubt they'd place Smith Doyle as the leader. Even if the serum's success rate were low, using an experimental subject as the head seems implausible."

"Our analysis suggests a higher likelihood of individual mutation."

"Still, we're encouraging our undercover agents within the High Table to attempt eliminating Smith Doyle. If successful, it would confirm the Alliance hasn't mastered serum production."

Fury glanced at him.

"Run a full risk assessment on Doyle. When do you plan to contact him?"

Coulson considered for a moment.

"After the Assassin Alliance and the High Table resolve their conflict."

Fury nodded.

"Proceed as planned."

"Yes, sir."

As Coulson left, Fury tapped his fingers on the desk. He would have preferred the Alliance to possess super soldier serum—this result disappointed him. But he noted the Assassin Alliance's methods presented many strategic opportunities.

After annotating the file, he moved on—leaving the matter to Coulson.

Meanwhile, Akira, as instructed by her father, arrived outside the Textile Factory in Brooklyn, New York.

She saw workers repairing the destroyed gate and castle structure. Double-checking the address, she confirmed she was in the right place.

Approaching the gate, she immediately drew the attention of nearby Assassin Alliance members.

As she reached the main entrance, Wesley, who was patrolling, called out:

"This is a private area. Please step back."

Akira produced the token John Wick gave her.

"I was told to bring this here."

Wesley glanced at the bullet in her hand—it was one of their Alliance's special three-stage long-range sniper rounds. Upon verifying it, he nodded:

"Come with me."

Wesley led her inside toward Smith Doyle's office.

As she walked through the halls, Akira noticed damage from battle—scorch marks from grenades, bullet holes from every direction. Clearly, a serious conflict had occurred here—right in the middle of New York City.

Soon, they arrived at the office door. Wesley knocked, and at the sound of permission, opened the door and led her in.

"Leader, this is the one carrying John Wick's token."

Smith Doyle nodded. Wesley exited.

Smith looked at the girl before him. Knowing she was the daughter of the Osaka Continental's manager, he said:

"Sit."

Without hesitation, Akira sat down across from him and placed the token—the bullet—on his desk.

Smith glanced at it and asked:

"Did Koji Shima or John Wick give you any instructions?"

Akira blinked, surprised.

"Sir, you know who I am?"

Smith nodded with a smile. She answered:

"They didn't say much—just that I should follow instructions here. They said this place would ensure my safety."

Smith replied:

"Since you brought the token, you'll have our protection. I'll assign someone to settle you in. But things aren't stable—don't wander off."

Akira nodded:

"Understood."

Smith pressed a button on his desk. Fox soon entered.

"Leader, you called?"

"This is Akira. She came here seeking shelter, carrying John Wick's token. Find her a place to stay."

Fox nodded and turned to Akira:

"Follow me."

Akira rose and followed him out of the room.

As they left, Smith returned to planning. They had successfully repelled the latest wave. Now it was time to eliminate more of the High Table's core forces.

He decided to lead the assault on the Italian Mafia himself. Mr. X, along with the Mechanic and Gunsmith, would take out the Russian Elder, Pyotr.

Wesley, the Demolitions Expert, and the Butcher would travel to Germany to deal with the Illuminati faction.

This time, Cross and the Pharmacist would stay at headquarters to defend.

Once these three Elder factions were destroyed, the High Table would collapse. After all, it was never a single power—it was a coalition.

The squads would depart by the end of the day.
