Chapter 593: They're Turning Against Each Other
Are we witnessing a mutiny right now? Because I think we're witnessing a mutiny right now…
Matsumoto drew his sword but the confusing thing was that the Pirate Lord didn't even look in his direction and just continued to stare at Helen, completely ignoring the guy that was in a position to cut him down if he chose to.
"What game are you playing at, Helen?" The Pirate Lord growled.
The Helen woman tilted her head at him, "Gosh, were you really that dumb? Are you still unable to tell what is happening right now?"
"I know that you are betraying me, is that right?"
"No, no. We're following Matsumoto in turning against you, that's what it is."
Yeah… Don't you see the guy holding his sword menacingly beside you right-- Oh wait… The guy was glaring at Helen, not the Pirate Lord…
In fact, the first group of pirates seemed to be looking at both sides in confusion as well, as though they weren't sure what was happening.
Err… What is going on?
Helen either didn't notice or was intentionally ignoring him as she gestured at the Pirate Lord, "To think you are still clueless now, I wonder just how you even managed to stay in this position for so long?"
The Pirate Lord let out a bark of laughter, "Hahaha! Do you really think Matsumoto will betray me?! The fact that you even think so shows that you know nothing!"
Helen frowned at him, "What are you talking about? Are you really that arrogant to think that we wouldn't turn against you?"
Matsumoto stepped out in front of the Pirate Lord and swung his sword in an arc, "So this was your plan, Helen? You were trying to drive a wedge between my lord and I so that you can count on us taking each other down? What a stupid plan."
Helen let out a gasp of surprise, "What are you saying, lord Matsumoto? You were the ones who told us to set off the explosion to cut you all off from escaping, right?"
Explosion?
Wait… The explosion at the beginning that set the corridor on fire?! That was them and not the androids?!
So they were already planning this from the start!!
Matsumoto scowled at them, "You do not even know of the loyalty I have to my lord. Why, Helen? Why do this? Have we not treated you well?"
At this point, I guess Helen had also grown tired of pretending and scowled at Matsumoto, "Treated me well?! Hahahaha!! Did you think I was satisfied with just being nothing but your lackey the entire time?! I have done all the legwork, all the actual physical labour, yet why are you two at the top, huh?! Why am I treated like I'm below both of you?!"
The Pirate Lord leaned forward, "Is that the reason? Is that seriously the reason that made you decide to turn the rest of the crew against us?"
"Yes!! And you have been wasting our life chasing after this stupid Pirate Hoard thing and we had nothing to show for it until now! Now that we are finally here… We don't want any of you to have a cut of it."
The Pirate Lord raised his arms to point his cannons at her, "So it's treason then."
Helen chuckled, "Treason? Oh, no, no. This is a revolution."
The pirates on both sides raised their guns to point at each other while my girls and I slowly backed away to merge with the background.
It was clear who had the upper hand here since only the first group of pirates were on the Pirate Lord's side but every single one of the remaining pirates were against him.
"You can't win, Helen," The Pirate Lord growled.
The woman smirked, "Maybe. But before we start, mind telling me how you knew Matsumoto did not betray you?"
"There's no need to tell a dead bitch."
Her smile turned vicious, "Is that because you are safe inside that power armour of yours and you don't care what happens to those little dogs that still follow you despite the odds?"
To their credit, the pirates on the Pirate Lord's side did not even back down from her threat.
The Pirate Lord growled at her, "Not at all, we just know loyalty while the lot of you don't."
"Isn't it funny since you were the one that recruited us? Anyway… Do you even know why I even chose this moment to betray you? And instead of stabbing you in the back, I tried to stab you from the front?"
The Pirate Lord levelled his arm at her, "I don't care."
There was a click and I winced, fully expecting the woman to be blown to shreds but… Nothing happened.
The Pirate Lord tried to pull back his arm but he suddenly stopped moving, as though his entire Power Armour had locked up.
The Helen woman chuckled, "Surprised? Your biggest asset is now your biggest liability! Ahahaha!"
She then suddenly turned towards my girls and I, "Don't think I've forgotten about you lot~ That stupid tyrant might have given you his word that you will be free to leave but this Pirate crew is now under new management! Now just in case, do it to them as well!"
I wanted to take a step forward but the HUD that was displayed in front of me suddenly fizzled out and my Power Armour shut down, its joints locking up and plunging me into darkness
I thought it ran out of power until a single screen popped up in front of my eyes again.
On it was a single line, 'Armour security bypassed. Proceeding to eject pilot.'
What the fuck? Did they hack my Power Armour?!
Before I knew it, the back of my Power Armour let out a hiss and opened up, right before the Power Armour reached its hand behind without my input and grabbed me by the back to pull me out of it.
What in the flying fuck?!! You're telling me my Power Armour could just forcibly pull me out of it the entire time?!!
I got dropped outside of it but Lea managed to rush forward to catch me before I fell onto the ground.
"Mistress! Are you alright?!" Lea asked as my Power Armour closed up its back before shutting down again.
Ries also rushed up to me, "Boss! What happened? Why did you leave the Power Armour?"
"It… It was hacked…" I muttered.
"H… Hacked?! But… That's not possible!"
The Helen woman laughed again, "Ahahaha! This is precious! Impossible, she says! Hahaha!"
Ries ignored her, "The Power Armour doesn't even have a wireless connection to be hacked remotely! How did the machine get hacked and controlled to pull you out of it? That's literally impossible!"
I don't know how it actually works so I would just have to take Ries's words for it… But well… The thing she said was impossible still happened so I don't know what to say to that either…
Wait… If it wasn't a wireless hack… That moment where I shook hands with her?! This bitch!!
Helen didn't seem too bothered by the fact that Ries ignored her and turned back to the pirates on the Pirate Lord's side instead.
"Now… I'm only going to offer one chance to you guys. Follow that idiot that's still stuck in that Power Armour and die… Or turn against him and join us instead and live. I even promise you all that you would also get a share of the treasures that we have found here."
Matsumoto stood his ground and pointed his sword at her, "Save your breath you traitorous bitch. Even if I were to die, I will die by my lord's side instead of becoming a traitor myself!"
The other pirates behind him also yelled out in agreement before going back to training their weapons at the other group.
The woman shook her head, "Such a pity… Then do you all even know that this stupid guy intends to abandon all of us the moment he seizes the Pirate Hoard? Are you even willing to follow a person like that?"
That seemed to make the pirates behind Matsumoto hesitate slightly.
I'm guessing the Pirate Lord did not share with them his plans to retire after he gets to the Pirate Hoard? Then this might explain why the other side turned on him since they might think he's just going to run away with the treasure or something along those lines.
Wait… Could this mutiny be started all because of a misunderstanding?
The Helen woman continued, "That's right. This bastard thinks he can just take a part of the treasure and retire somewhere quiet after gathering all of us like this! We are called the Vengeance Pirate Fleet! How can this loser retire when we haven't even achieved our vengeance?!"
Oh, ok, it actually wasn't a misunderstanding. They're really betraying him because he's trying to retire.
Matsumoto seemed like he was going to say something until the Pirate Lord spoke again, "Enough… You want me, right?"
A hiss came from the Power Armour's chest and it opened up, clearly to allow the pilot to step out.
I was fully expecting a giant of a man to climb out of the Power Armour and…
A woman with long wavy black hair wearing a skintight pilot suit that hugged her generous curves appeared at the hatch. A fluffy black tail could also be seen behind her back and a pair of sharp, lupine ears also flicked on top of her head.
On her hips was a pair of katanas and she was looking out at the crowd with a sharp gaze.
"Well? Here I am."
…
…
She's hot.
