NOVEL WEB Chapter 591: To The Pirate Hoard?
It seems like an entire battalion's worth of pirates had shown up to back us up, hammering the androids from behind and cutting them down with the element of surprise on their side.
Guess we can't slack off here either!
I resumed my assault on the androids, smashing my fist into another one to send them flying away and crashing into another group of androids.
The androids split up to start attacking the other group of pirates as well but I didn't have the capacity to pay attention to them right now since the androids in front of me lunged at me.
I backhanded one across the face before kicking another one in the chest.
I swung my arm forward and activated my shotgun, blasting another one in the head and blowing him away.
A blur of movement came from the side and I felt a weight latch onto my arm.
I clenched my fist in my other hand and prepared to punch the android that was holding on my arm away, only to realise another one had grabbed onto my other arm as well.
More of them swarmed up to me and I soon found myself slowly being dragged down by the combined weight of the androids.
Another figure leapt over me and gunshots rang out, causing all the androids holding me down to suddenly jerk their heads back before collapsing onto the ground.
Amber landed on top of another android and used him as a springboard to jump back up into the air, spinning herself gracefully while shooting her dual pistols around her.
Every single one of her shots nailed their targets in the head and I was pretty sure she did something using her powers because that was enough to disable those androids somehow.
She landed once again and an android tried to pounce on her from behind but a sniper round came hurtling towards it and pierced it through its chest, disabling it midair and leaving it to crash onto the ground instead.
As if catching a target midjump wasn't impressive enough, she had seemingly aimed her shot in such a way that the bullet ended up ricocheting off the wall and piercing through three more androids that had been unfortunate enough to stand at where they were.
Lea didn't even stop to check her shot and simply moved on to snipe at another android, her shots taking down several androids with every bullet she fired.
Right then, a distinctly smaller figure joined me by my side and I turned to see Ries standing with her feet planted firmly in a wide stance while holding her light machine gun at her hips.
She let out a bellow of laughter before firing the heavy weapon in her hands at the crowd of androids, spraying them down while laughing the entire time.
"Wahahahaha!! Die! Die! Dieeeeee!!! Get rekt you bitches!! Say hello to your maker!!" She laughed.
I'm surprised that the word 'rekt' still exists in this universe…
Speaking of which… Where's the last… Ah… Mara's just hanging out at the back and shooting her pistols casually, not even looking worried at all.
The sight of her casualness was a complete contrast to the pirates around her that were desperately shooting away at the androids that were still trying to attack them which made for a rather comical sight.
I turned my attention back to the front and resumed shooting at the crowd of androids while occasionally punching one of them that tried to leap at me or Ries while providing Amber with cover fire.
With all of us working together, the initially endless stream of androids soon started to thin out and I could even see that their numbers were beginning to wane.
The androids seemed to realise that they no longer had any chance of winning and started running back into the tunnels instead, which was quite an odd move once again considering how they never had any sense of self-preservation to begin with and yet they are retreating now instead of fighting to the bitter end.
Once again, I'm pretty sure that whoever was controlling them ordered them to do so just to have them ambush us later once more.
I waited for a few moments to make sure that there were no more traps before finally letting out a breath.
If I didn't have the Power Armour to support me, I would have just collapsed onto the ground right there and then from how exhausted I was.
Thankfully, I could just lock up the joints of the Power Armour and relax my body without falling over so that was what I did.
The pirates that showed up slowly made their way towards us with one of them leading the way.
Interestingly, it was a relatively tall woman with a head of grey hair styled in a bob cut while wearing a dark leather leotard with a leather jacket thrown over it.
Her leotard was open at her chest so her cleavage was on full display and it looked like her boobs would spill out of them at any moment.
She expertly manoeuvred through the sea of disabled androids despite wearing high heels until she arrived in front of the Pirate Lord.
She immediately bowed, "My lord! After we realised we could no longer contact you, we rushed in here as fast as we could!"
The Pirate Lord nodded at her, "Helen, huh? Nice timing. Seems like you brought the entire assault team with you?"
"Yes, my lord! Since we were dealing with an unknown location and I've already come across several dead bodies and also heard the explosions, I thought that it would be best that I send everyone to come here to help you!"
Looks like this Pirate Lord really has a lot of loyal subordinates huh?
"Did you meet any trouble when coming here?"
"We met a few androids trying to ambush us but we overcame all of them through our superior firepower, my lord!"
Yeah… This group had way more people than us and it looks like they even had several people using Power Armour as well, though they were my size and not the Pirate Lord's size of course.
The Helen pirate then looked up at the Pirate Lord, "Could I ask… Is this the way to the Pirate Hoard, my lord?"
He turned to me, "We were just about to find out."
Ah, he's probably asking me to try and hack the shielded console I guess.
I went up to the console and tried to connect my Codex to it which I was surprised to see that it actually worked.
Then it was a simple thing of completing the mini game before the shield deactivated and I was free to approach the console itself.
There was no need to hack into that one since there was just a single button on the console itself which I was hesitating if I should press it or not.
The Pirate Lord seemed to have noticed and walked up to stand beside me, peeking over me to see what was on the console.
"A button?" He asked.
I nodded, "Seems like it."
"What does it do?"
"I don't know, there's nothing here that suggests what it does."
"Well then… Press it?"
I turned to stare at him, "What if it's a self-destruct button?"
"Would they really put a self-destruct button in a room like this?"
"Remember, you were the one who said this was supposed to be a treasure room and what we got was just a room full of these cylinders with some liquid inside them."
"Hmm… Oh well."
The Pirate Lord reached past me and pushed the button himself before I could even realise what he was trying to do.
There was a low rumbling sound coming from it and I winced, fully expecting the console to explore or something.
In the end, a holographic projection appeared up in the air, showing a three dimensional projection of some old looking bearded guy with an eyepatch over one of his eyes. The eyepatch even sported a skull and crossbones on it so any doubt that he was a pirate was gone immediately.
The old looking man grinned, "Ahoy! It seems dat ye rogues be the first ones t' reach here! I know all o' ye be aft me famed Pirate Hoard 'n ye might be wonderin' where 'tis right now. Don't worry, I left it all here past dis door!"
Another rumble rocked the room and we turned to see a large part of the floor opening up at the back of the room, revealing a hidden ramp that led even deeper down into the ground.
The old looking man then let out a chuckle, "Har har har! Well wha' be ye waitin' fer? Go on in 'n claim yer prize 'n become the new Pirate Sovereign!"
Ok, first of all… I guess this Pirate Lord was right all along.
Second of all… Holy shit, I did not expect to hear pirate lingo speak in this universe…
