Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Two Aya Stars

"Let's begin."

Marcus and Diana arrived at her hotel room to conduct the test.

The Lasso of Truth at Diana's waist suddenly materialized, and in the next moment, it wound around Marcus's arm.

Almost instantly, Marcus felt the golden lasso emanating a strange power, attempting to seal his abilities.

But the void energy flowing throughout his body, upon detecting this intrusion, began to fight back, trying to assimilate the lasso's power.

After suppressing his void energy, Marcus looked at Diana.

"Go ahead. What do you want to ask?"

"You said you want to extract the power of the Flame Sword. What do you intend to do with that energy?"

This was Diana's greatest concern. She'd never heard of anyone who could extract power from divine weapons.

Marcus wasn't surprised by her question. He smiled and replied: "To become stronger, naturally. Paradise Island isn't the only place in this world with superhuman beings."

Hearing this, Diana nodded slightly. Even on Paradise Island, many sought greater power. This didn't necessarily make someone an enemy or an ally.

"Are you truly from Earth?"

Her second question revealed her lingering suspicion that Marcus might be a creature from another world.

"Yes. Though I haven't lived nearly as long as you, I do reside on Earth."

Marcus answered calmly. No matter which reality he considered, he lived on Earth. Only a few times had he been elsewhere.

Seeing Marcus answer with such ease, Diana was taken aback. He was indeed an Earthling—completely contrary to her expectations.

"Final question: How do you know about Paradise Island and the Greek gods? These are merely legends in human society."

This was the most critical question. The Greek gods had faded into legend, and Paradise Island remained isolated from humanity. Except for her boyfriend Steve, who accidentally landed there, no one knew of their existence.

"Is that so difficult to know? Don't forget that in that great war, Greek gods and Amazon warriors fought alongside Atlanteans and humans. Knowledge spreads easily."

As he spoke, Marcus released a portion of his void power to counteract the lasso's influence, but Diana didn't notice this resistance. Seeing Marcus explain under the lasso's effect, she found his answer plausible.

Retracting the Lasso of Truth, Diana asked curiously: "One more question—how did you recognize me? How did you know I'm an Amazon demigod?"

In response to Diana's inquiry, Marcus smiled subtly and released a faint pulse of void energy.

"Though my power can be dangerous, it remains under my control, allowing me to sense certain energies. You and the sword share similar auras. Combined with historical knowledge, identifying you wasn't difficult.

As for recognizing you as a demigod—I can sense divine blood flowing through your veins."

The latter claim was completely fabricated; Marcus couldn't actually detect what flowed in anyone's bloodstream.

Diana suspected nothing, and the Lasso of Truth gradually disappeared around her waist.

"I apologize for my suspicion. Please accept this as compensation."

It was indeed impolite to bind someone for interrogation. Having determined Marcus wasn't an enemy, Diana wanted to make amends.

She produced a box and handed it to Marcus.

"This is a Flame Sword I once used, though it broke in battle."

Opening the box revealed a hilt and numerous blade fragments. Faint energy emanated from these pieces, delighting Marcus.

"Excellent. This will be very useful to me. Though I still won't relinquish my claim on the museum's Flame Sword. By the way, I'm Marcus. If you need to find me in the future, visit Wayne Manor in Gotham."

With that, Marcus left Diana's room. His priority now was extracting the sword's energy.

"These fragments plus the intact Flame Sword should yield two Aya Starss. Perhaps I can finally craft my third battle armor."

Returning to his lodgings, Marcus channeled void energy through his hands, gathering all the divine weapon fragments to begin the extraction process.

Though the Flame Sword had shattered, its power remained intact. As he continued extracting, the once-gleaming fragments gradually rusted, as if rapidly oxidizing.

Soon, an Aya Stars materialized in Marcus's hand, and the fragments were reduced to ordinary metal.

"I wonder if Diana possesses a Godkiller sword..."

The thought made Marcus smile and shake his head.

The Godkiller was entirely different from a Flame Sword. Forged by Hephaestus himself, it could cut at the subatomic level—vastly more powerful than any Flame Sword.

Though Flame Swords were modeled after the Godkiller, they were Amazon-forged reproductions, not equal to the original.

If he could extract the Godkiller's power, he might obtain enough Aya Stars for multiple battle armors.

After securing the first Aya Stars, Marcus prepared for nightfall to execute the second phase of his plan.

With the museum closed, he would extract the intact Flame Sword's power.

Under cover of darkness, the entire museum stood quiet and empty. In void mode, Marcus easily infiltrated the Greek antiquities exhibition hall.

He approached the display containing the Flame Sword, gently removed its protective case, and placed his hands on the sword's hilt.

The sword gradually became enveloped in void energy as Marcus slowly extracted its power. The shadow of another Aya Stars began materializing in his hand.

As minutes passed, the Aya Stars gradually condensed into its final form.

"Ha! It's done."

The Aya secured, the Flame Sword was reduced to an ordinary blade, devoid of any power.

After replacing the protective case, Marcus swiftly exited the museum with his prize.

Not long after his departure, Diana entered the exhibition area and approached the Flame Sword.

"The sword remains. I won't hesitate then!"

Diana believed Marcus hadn't yet arrived, so she planned to retrieve the Flame Sword before he could. However, the moment she touched it, she discovered it had become a mundane object.

"He's already been here? He actually extracted the sword's power completely, transforming it into an ordinary blade."

Examining the now-powerless Flame Sword, Diana shook her head. She clearly knew too little about Marcus.

Since the sword had lost its divine properties, there was no reason to retrieve it.

Looking at the ordinary sword she'd planned to use as a replacement, Diana smiled.

"Well, I suppose he saved me some effort."

Marcus, oblivious to Diana's discovery, was contemplating his newly acquired treasures.

As before, though he now possessed eight Aya Starss, he planned to construct just one battle armor, keeping the remaining four Aya in reserve.
