Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Howard's Relic
"This is the vibranium alloy Howard left behind. With this material and the metal from the Destroyer, you should be able to significantly strengthen your damaged suit."
The vibranium alloy ingots were neatly stacked, their quantity so vast that Tony couldn't help but gasp.
Vibranium was exceedingly rare, yet here before him lay an abundance of the alloy. One could only imagine how much raw vibranium Marcus had acquired.
"You should have told me earlier—you could have helped me build a vibranium suit!"
If he'd been wearing vibranium armor, the reactor embedded in his chest might never have been necessary.
Shaking his head slightly, Marcus patted Tony's shoulder before turning to explore other areas of the underground facility, examining everything stored there.
Tony didn't press the issue. He examined the neatly stacked vibranium ingots, found a cart, and began loading the alloy.
The cart wasn't large, and he didn't intend to take all the vibranium. After gathering what he currently needed, he wheeled the cart toward the exit.
As he approached the elevator, he saw Marcus walking toward him holding a videotape.
"This is what Howard and Maria left for you." Marcus placed it in Tony's arms.
A videotape from his parents?
Looking at the recording now in his possession, Tony's heart trembled. He always had complicated feelings about his parents' legacy.
Fortunately, with Fury's help, he had previously discovered a solution to his palladium poisoning through one of his father's videos. That experience made him more willing to watch this new recording.
Carefully securing the videotape, he pushed the cart onto the elevator.
Back in the bedroom, Bucky was still waiting. After Marcus and Tony emerged, he twisted the wall lamp's wick back into place, restoring everything to its original appearance.
"So you were looking for that vibranium alloy. Seems your fancy toy is due for an upgrade!"
Though Bucky lived on a farm, he hadn't lost touch with the outside world. With the internet's expansion, he easily kept informed about global developments.
Tony didn't respond. His priority now wasn't building a new Iron Man suit, but watching the videotape's contents.
Seeing his solemn expression, Marcus led Bucky out of the room. Better to give Tony privacy.
They hadn't seen each other in years—especially for Bucky, as Marcus had vanished for over a decade. If Bucky hadn't maintained the farm, it would have been abandoned long ago.
"I merged your farm with Howard's, and that house over there is one I built myself. What do you think? Much better than your old place, right?"
Bucky was quite proud of his newly constructed home. Every time he entered it, he felt a profound sense of security.
The house was essentially a fortress he'd specially designed to withstand Hydra attacks.
Though Hydra had been inactive in recent years, Bucky remained vigilant. He understood the organization better than most.
Despite the global crackdown decades ago, Hydra had never been completely eliminated, and certainly wouldn't disappear entirely despite worldwide precautions.
Hydra was a parasite. They would achieve their goals at any cost, even killing their own members to protect the organization.
Therefore, Bucky never relaxed his defenses against Hydra, even using Stark Industries technology to constantly upgrade and strengthen his metal arm.
His arm appeared normal now, but its strength had more than doubled.
Most importantly, it incorporated Kree technology, specially modified by Howard using components from the alien spacecraft—providing Bucky with a crucial advantage.
However, in all these years, he hadn't encountered anything Hydra-related.
So far, his biggest confrontations had been with a few small-town thugs who'd harassed Chris.
Chris was the woman from the flower shop—the young woman he'd fallen for.
"Well, it might not match the farm's aesthetic, but since you're taking care of the place now, you naturally have the final say."
Smiling and nodding, Marcus noticed metal lifting platforms scattered throughout the farm.
When they'd arrived, Happy had mentioned that Bucky had transformed the property into a fully automated fortress. That appeared to be accurate.
They chatted about everything, as if trying to make up for all the conversations they'd missed over the years.
After a while, Tony finally emerged from the room carrying a suitcase.
His eyes were slightly red, but he wore a faint smile.
"How much do you know about Hydra?"
The videotapes his parents had left contained personal messages and guidance. For Tony, who hadn't heard parental advice in over a decade, it stirred profound emotions. He recalled scenes from when his parents were still alive.
This also deepened his hatred for Hydra. If not for their repeated attacks, his parents might not have died from the resulting stress and trauma.
After watching the video, his greatest desire was to completely eradicate the organization that lurked in darkness.
"Hydra? That's quite a topic. Where would you like me to start?"
"I just want to know where they are," Tony replied.
He wanted to avenge his parents. Hydra, like terrorists, had no place in the world.
"Huh? You're planning to avenge Howard and Maria? Well, that's complicated. They're everywhere—who knows exactly where they are!"
Marcus looked at Tony with a knowing smile, as if suddenly remembering something.
"If I had to name one place, S.H.I.E.L.D. is one of Hydra's nests. That poor bastard Fury is really struggling!"
At these words, Bucky couldn't help laughing.
"Hahaha, your animosity toward S.H.I.E.L.D. is still strong. But I agree—S.H.I.E.L.D. likely harbors Hydra elements. After all, it's an organization built by countries worldwide."
With both men confirming this, Tony felt stunned.
He hadn't realized Hydra had so thoroughly infiltrated society, nor expected that under Fury's leadership, S.H.I.E.L.D. would be compromised.
What Tony didn't understand was that Hydra hadn't merely invaded S.H.I.E.L.D. as he imagined. If S.H.I.E.L.D. deserved a more accurate name, "Snake and Shield" would be most fitting.
This was beyond most people's comprehension. In an organization dedicated to protecting the world and eliminating Hydra, Hydra agents formed the largest contingent.
Rather than saying S.H.I.E.L.D. had been invaded by Hydra, it would be more accurate to say S.H.I.E.L.D. was simply Hydra operating under a different name.
Although many S.H.I.E.L.D. members weren't Hydra affiliates, Hydra had maintained the highest proportion of personnel across all departments.
