Chapter 1: First Arrival at Marvel
"Peter! Time to get up!" shouted Norton, a young man who had accidentally traveled to the Marvel world. He stood in front of Peter Parker's house, knowing he lived next door to the future Spider-Man. Norton and Peter were childhood friends and now senior classmates at Empire State University.
The door opened slowly, revealing Ben and May Parker, an elderly couple with kind, gray-haired faces. "Good morning, Uncle Ben, Aunt May!" Norton greeted politely. The couple always took special care of him, being one of Peter's few close friends.
"Good morning, Norton!" Uncle Ben replied with a warm smile.
"Norton, you can go directly to Peter's room to wake him up, and I'll make you breakfast," Aunt May offered, enthusiastically taking Norton's hand and leading him into the house.
While in Peter's dream, he saw himself successfully starting a business after graduation, with Norton as a board member and general manager holding 10% of the shares. Blessed by his good friend, he married Betty Brant, and they had children together. However, in reality, Norton watched Peter giggling in his sleep, drool escaping his mouth.
Norton held his forehead, exasperated by his friend's embarrassing sleeping face. "Peter!!" he called out. Startled, Peter sat up immediately, staring with wide eyes at Norton, then groaned as he realized something, "God, why! I knew it was a dream!!!"
"What are you dreaming about to drool like that?" Norton teased.
"Ahem, er, it's nothing, really!" Peter blushed bright red, unwilling to disclose the dream he'd just had, as it nearly led him to cough during the imaginary wedding.
Norton grinned at Peter, watching his face redden even more, until Peter couldn't hold it in: "Okay, okay!! I was dreaming about Betty!!"
"I didn't force you to say," Norton laughed and patted Peter on the shoulder. "Wash up and go downstairs for breakfast," He said, heading downstairs himself.
Not long after, Peter appeared, freshly washed. "Good morning, good morning," he said hurriedly, grabbing a sandwich before heading out to school with Norton. His schedule was tight, and he was about to be late. "Be careful on the road," Aunt May reminded them. "Got it," Peter replied.
As they walked to school, Norton reflected on his next steps. He had discovered through research that mutants existed, Tony Stark had not yet experienced his transformative accident, and Captain America was still unthawed from the ice. He realized he had time to plan his future in this world.
Having lived here for over twenty years now, he still possessed no special system typical in traversal stories. Instead, he excelled in his studies with Peter, being quite talented in science, though not matching Stark's brilliance. If all else failed, perhaps he could try his luck at Kamar-Taj. Who knew what might happen?
Peter and Norton arrived at the school gate and were about to go in when they heard someone calling them.
"Norton, Peter."
A beautiful landscape appeared before their eyes. She had lovely blond hair and a good figure. When Peter saw her, he playfully patted Norton on the chest and said, "I suddenly have something to do, you can talk." Approaching Norton, he whispered in his ear, "Come on, brother!"
Norton could only smile helplessly. He had met Gwen Stacy earlier than Peter, back when Peter had a girlfriend. This was a little different from the timeline he had imagined.
On the day freshman year started, he met Fleischer, a troublemaker who came looking for trouble. Norton, who had practiced various fighting techniques out of boredom, found dealing with him a piece of cake. Then he met Gwen, who tried to persuade them not to fight, and that's how they got to know each other.
Gwen walked up to Norton with a smile and asked curiously, "Is there anything urgent for Peter?"
"You know how lazy people are; there's no way out for them sometimes."
If Peter found out, he would probably say, "I left on purpose to give you a chance, and you still talk about me?"
"Hehehe~ How can you say that about your good friend?" Gwen smiled sweetly, then suddenly took a deep breath, her tone a little nervous: "Norton, I know there's a newly opened coffee shop nearby. Are you free after school?"
Norton looked at Gwen's beautiful face with a knowing glance. He actually understood why Gwen took the initiative. Rather than saying he knew, it was better to say he caused it. A very classic plot: the hero saves the beauty.
Once, at a class reunion, Norton, Gwen, and Peter were about to head home when they encountered a gangster with a knife. Norton subdued the gangster alone. Even Gwen's father, George, who arrived late, treated him differently after this incident. George had even asked Gwen to learn some self-defense skills from Norton.
"Norton? Norton?" Gwen's call brought Norton back to his senses.
"Of course, I have time. It's an honor to go for coffee with such a beautiful lady."
"Great! Uh, I mean, thank you." Gwen seemed a little excited, then realized she might be losing her composure and quickly adjusted, pretending to be calm: "Class is about to start; let's go in."
"Well, okay." Gwen's reaction amused Norton. In the original world line, Gwen was supposed to be Peter's girlfriend, but he had intervened first. He could only feel sorry for Peter. At worst, he would later help Peter get together with Mary Jane.
