Void Dragon - A God among Gods

Chapter 17: The problems begin to intensify

- "Ah... W-WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" I asked, after jumping so high in surprise and shock that I almost ended up at the top of the tree I was under.

- "Pfff... Your reaction was the funniest one I've ever seen that you've ever had...," she said, laughing softly.

- "Sigh... but still, it's extremely cute...," she added, wiping away the tears streaming from her eyes.

- "UGH... B-BUT HOW? I-I WASN'T THERE, AND I CAME HERE... HOW DID YOU GET HERE? THIS ISN'T POSSIBLE... IT CAN'T BE...," I said clumsily, as my brain seemed to fry with so much information at once.

Aurëalis laughed again, this time openly, with a laugh that, though I didn't want to admit it, made part of the frustration I felt disappear instantly, creating a small space for a great happiness and satisfaction, although it wasn't enough to completely erase all those overwhelming emotions.

- "Ugh... C-calm down, Kyrion... breathe... relax...," I thought, trying to control my indignation.

However, Aurëalis didn't give me any reprieve and slowly approached until she was only a few centimeters from my snout.

- "Did you... really think you could escape from me so easily, hmm?" she asked, extending her hand and stroking my head.

Her face was calm and as joyful as ever. Her smile seemed more vibrant than ever, just like her eyes, which sparkled like a vast sea of stars. Her cheeks were deeply flushed, almost as red as an apple, in a way I'd never seen before. The moment she managed to stroke my head, all the anguish and indignation I felt seemed to vanish, replaced by that old sensation of tightened hearts, admiration, and an inexplicable warmth that made me pant more and more, as if I were running a marathon.

- "I-I... E-escape from you?" I asked, without an answer and almost in a small trance, as she continued to stroke me.

- "Yes... Today, I went to the forest, hoping you'd be there so we could talk... but you weren't, so I knew something was wrong," she replied.

- "B-but... how did you know where to look for me?" I asked, blushing and much calmer because of the head pats I was receiving.

- "Hmm... it's because... I know your scent very well... So, finding you wasn't hard at all," she replied, looking into my eyes with an expression of extreme happiness, almost as if she had found a great treasure or something very important she'd lost.

- "Ah... I-I...," I couldn't reply, embarrassed, as I lowered my head and closed my eyes again, trying to go back to sleep to escape the situation.

But Aurëalis, at that moment, seemed even more attached than usual and went to the spot where I was lying, continuing to stroke my head. On the other hand, I could feel the way she looked at me becoming more and more intense, in a way I couldn't completely understand, but that my body certainly did, even if I wasn't looking at her.

- "Damn... what's... happening? D-damn it... I can feel that something's wrong here...," I thought, keeping my eyes closed as I felt Aurëalis stroking my head and staring intensely at me.

- "First, she follows me here... and then... she keeps acting this way... ugh... and the worst part... is that... ugh... I'm liking it?" I asked myself.

- "D-damn it... But how did she manage to keep track of my scent? Doing that is really difficult, especially for gods who have to store spiritual information... Tsk...," I thought.

As countless questions bombarded my mind and Aurëalis continued to stroke me, I decided to end all those stimuli by opening my eyes and asking her more questions.

- "Tsk... I-I... I won't... take this much longer...," I said, increasingly embarrassed.

Then, suddenly, I leaped away, escaping Aurëalis's pats and all the stimuli.

- "UGH... A-AURËALIS... CAN I ASK YOU A FEW MORE QUESTIONS?" I asked, jumping and moving a little away, my face extremely flushed.

- "W-whoa, haha... S-sure, you can ask questions...," she replied, surprised by my movement.

- "Y-you said you were looking for me because you had something to tell me, didn't you?" I asked, this time much more alert to any movement Aurëalis might make to grab my tail, stroke my snout, or pat my head.

- "Ah, yes... I had forgotten about that for a moment...," she said, standing up quickly.

- "W-well... Last night... all that happened, and is still happening... it was... you, wasn't it?" she asked, with a look that seemed to plead for it to be true.

- "I... don't know what you're talking about...," I replied, averting my gaze, clearly confirming what she had asked, even if indirectly.

- "… pfff… O-okay," she said, laughing softly at my failed attempt to lie.

- "…Ugh…" I murmured, blushing with embarrassment over such a poorly told lie.

- "…B-but… changing the subject… I heard that Keltherion was extremely upset about this… about your brief disappearance, I mean," I said, trying to change the topic.

- "…Hmm… my father? Yes… he was very upset about it…" she said as she sat down again, this time showing an expression that seemed extremely tired.

- "Sigh… The truth is, my father is partly right… after all, he is my father and cares about me… and I was very careless to sleep outside for so long…" she said.

- "…And if someone hadn't found me and taken me back to my room yesterday, probably, by this morning, the whole school would have been invaded, and several other wars would have begun… maybe today we'd be facing a second version of the wars from a few millennia ago," she said, looking at me with an enigmatic gaze.

- "So… thanks to that someone... we can say the universe was saved from another interdimensional war," she concluded, staring at me with a big smile as I turned my head away, embarrassed.

- "…B-but if that someone was some kind of hero, why would the king send people to try to find him?" I asked, turning only my eyes in her direction, my face still deeply flushed.

- "…Uh… huh?… pfff hahaha," she laughed.

- "…Ugh… what's so funny?" I murmured, growing more embarrassed.

"Sigh… are you afraid of my father?" she asked, getting closer and closer to me.

- "…W-what? Why would I… be afraid… of your father?" I asked, trying to stick to my poorly crafted lie, even though I knew it was in vain.

- "Hehe… did you know that when you try to continue a poorly crafted lie, you get even cuter?" she said, this time catching up to me and hugging my tail again while looking at me with great intensity.

- "Ugh…" I murmured, trying to pull my tail away from her, but without success.

- "…L-look, I-I…" I tried to say, only to be interrupted by Aurëalis, who placed her index finger on my snout as if to tell me to stay quiet.

- "Don't worry, Kyrion… I'll be here if anything happens, and I won't let my father do anything bad to you, ever…" she said with a reassuring smile while hugging my tail.

- "…Uh… O-okay…" I replied.

At that moment, I couldn't do anything again but listen and accept everything she said.
