Chapter 53- Twenty steps! Get lost!
"What is this!" After a few minutes passed, he cried out when he couldn't move any further. His foot was seemingly stuck in the clear silver water. About fifteen meters from the silver lake, the beautiful woman let out a small smile and said coldly.
"Twenty steps! Get lost!" The same instant she said that, the proud looking youth let out a surprised expression as he was suddenly pulled out from the lake by an invisible hand and thrown away like he was nothing but trash.
As the boy flew away, he was suddenly enveloped by silver light and disappeared. This sudden action made everyone to open their eyes wide in shock. The beautiful young lady pointed at another youth. In fear, the youth quickly entered the lake and started walking, but he had only walked seventeen steps when he couldn't walk anymore.
"Seventeen steps! You're gone!"
A similar scene happened as an invisible hand picked up the youth and flung him away. He let out a cry in fear but was swiftly enveloped in silver light and disappeared. High up in the ceiling, a handsome young man about twenty five years old sighed when he saw the youths being flung away like rag dolls.
He would raise his hand and silver light would take the kids to the next test. Although this was a test, there were no eliminations or tension. It was just a talent test. After this test, another test laid ahead. But the beautiful young lady with a cold expression on her face was making it seem as if it was a big deal.
As another student was flung away by the invisible hand, he was suddenly enveloped by a silver light and disappeared shortly. Her scared screams echoed in the steel room, making everyone shiver repeatedly.
"Oh, senior sister! Must you be this cruel to these kids!" He said with a doting expression on his face as he laid down in the air and continued to look down at the young lady with a warm smile on his face. Every few seconds, he would wave his hand and someone would disappear in a flash of silver light. Their screams imbuing fear into the young ones heart.
Under the Golden leafed tree, the young lady's lips twitched repeatedly as she took a quick glance up to the ceiling. Every time a youth was thrown, he would disappear with a flash of silver light later.
'Tch, that guy!'
She retracted her gaze and continued to point at students randomly until her finger pointed at Zayne. Zayne was trying to talk to Sylvia at that time so when the finger suddenly pointed at him, he was struck with fear.
He walked forward with fear and was about to enter the cursed silver water when he suddenly stopped and looked at the figure under the Golden leafed tree. Alwаys rеаd frоm thе sоurсе: М|V|LЕ4МРYR.
"Oh, cold fairy maiden! I do not want to be eliminated this earlier, please pick again!" He said with a respectful expression as he bowed his head. Up in the ceiling, the handsome youth suddenly burst out in laughter, which resulted in one student that was sent flying to hit his head against the steel wall.
The student let out a wry cry, but just as his voice rose up he was teleported out of the hall. His voice leaving echoes to the remaining students and instilled fear into them.
"Eh? What did you just call me?"
The handsome youth continued to laugh so hardly that a tear suddenly fell from his eyes unknowingly. The tear fell and landed on top of Grey's nose. Grey was stunned and looked up to the dark ceiling in suspicion. He tried to peer deeper into the darkness with his improved eyesight and saw the handsome youth who had not even bothered to hide himself.
"Please cold fairy maiden!" Zayne said respectfully while bowing, without even looking up.
"Just get into the tub!" She said coldly and Zayne was swept up in an invisible force as his feet touched the silver water. With a shiver, Zayne began to slowly walk towards the Golden tree.
'She called it a tub?'
Zayne walked for forty nine steps before he started having some difficulty.
"Huh?" The young lady said in surprise. Actually this wasn't a test, it was just protocol for the Sky Mist academy to find out the amount of talent that each of their student had. Even if you passed all the other tests, if you couldn't walk more than ten steps in the silver water, you would be sent out shortly.
Sky Mist academy believed that talent was an important factor in cultivating. After all, you could be fine in the first stages of cultivation, but you entered the later stages it became increasingly harder to cultivate, that was where talent came to play.
The cultivation world after being influenced by God was such a mess now. After Foundation Establishment, the Core formation realm was a real trouble to get there.
Even some cultivators stayed stuck at a bottleneck in Qi accumulation, not to talk less about Foundation Establishment. The transition from Qi accumulation to the next realm was all about luck, will power and talent.
If back in the day, success was about ninety-nine percent effort and one percent talent, now it was seventy five percent effort and twenty five percent talent.
Even all your effort could go to waste if you didn't have even talent to get to the next realm. That was why Sky Mist academy only groomed people who had a considerable amount of talent.
Advancing more than ten steps in the talent test meant that you had the potential to get into Foundation Establishment, up to twenty and you could possibly enter the Core formation realm. But those who walked more than thirty steps could go beyond. Maybe even entering the Spirit advancement stage.
Talents like these were hard to find, so Sky Mist academy put these tests in place to find people that are worthy.
Originally every single one of them had walked more than ten steps. The lowest being thirteen steps, but that was enough for the Sky Mist academy. But when Zayne walked for over forty steps without stopping, her expression became dumbfounded. Just as Zayne took another four steps, he trembled aa he urged his body to walk even further, but he looked like he couldn't go no more.
The invisible hand took Zayne and threw him away but it was much gentler than when she threw the other students. Zayne let out a scared cry and was enveloped by a silver light, disappearing in the next second.
Fifty four steps!
This was the highest that anyone from their batch had ever taken.
'Hm, so he is talented?'
Grey thought to himself inwardly. When he saw the flinging action of the students, he thought maybe the amount of steps they took wasn't enough. He then remembered what Tyler said about giving it your best if not you may not enter.
As such, he was beginning to regret telling the old man that he had not seen the Dragon emperor. Maybe he would have passed the test and be an inner court student.
Up in the room, Tyler turned to the Captain and suddenly asked. "How many steps do you think they'll go?" She was obviously asking about Grey and Ange. He had stayed with them for a long time so he might be able to estimate the number of steps they might take, according to their potential.
"We'll see, shall we not?" He said calmly but his voice was clear and had a calming effect. Just looking at him, Tyler could tell that he was ready to break through to the Foundation Establishment realm. But he was still postponing his advancement. Tyler just sighed lowly and turned her head to look at the screen before them.
Sitting under the Golden leafed tree, the young lady no longer had a bored expression on her face, her interest had been piqued and she wanted to see if there was anyone that could rival that fifty four steps. Maybe even surpass it. As a student from the inner court herself, she would get a reward for being the invigilator of this test if her examinees were remarkable.
Her hand moved again but this time it wasn't random but more deliberate. Her hand suddenly stopped as it pointed... at Ange.
