Chapter 4 - Perseverance
Chapter 4: Perseverance
Yang Yu drove while thinking about everything that had just happened. He shook his head with a smile.
At first, he had only approached Ding Dian because of his mission, but after spending half a day with her, he realized he actually liked her—especially her fiery personality.
He found a five-star hotel nearby and booked a presidential suite.
After taking a shower, he stood in front of the bathroom mirror, admiring himself. A tall, muscular build, eight-pack abs, and a face as handsome as a celebrity—simply perfect.
Before traveling to this world, Yang Yu had been a broke nobody, relying on his own hands to get by. But now that he had transformed into a rich, attractive man, he was going to make up for all those years of hardship.
Lying on the bed, he let his thoughts drift until he eventually fell asleep.
The Next Morning
His phone rang, waking him up.
“Hello, what is it?” Yang Yu mumbled sleepily.
“Mr. Yang, you have a meeting at 8:30 AM today, and at ten—”
Before his secretary, An, could finish, Yang Yu impatiently interrupted, “Cancel everything. Unless it’s something urgent, don’t bother me for the next month. I’m taking a long vacation.”
Without waiting for a reply, he hung up and tossed the phone aside. Checking the time—7:30 AM—he went back to sleep.
Why work when he had more money than he could ever spend? Only a fool would waste time on a job.
On the other end of the line, Secretary An was stunned as if she had discovered a whole new world.
This is our workaholic Mr. Yang?
She had worked by his side for six years and had never seen him take a vacation—let alone a long one.
Afternoon
As a dedicated night owl, waking up before noon was impossible. Yang Yu slept until 1 PM, then got up, took a shower, and ordered lunch from the hotel.
After eating, he checked the time—already past 2 PM. He decided to go find Ding Dian again.
Driving his flashy Lamborghini Reventón, he arrived at the café where she worked.
“Welcome! What would you like to drink?”
Ding Dian’s voice greeted him.
“It doesn’t matter what I drink. I mainly came to admire a beautiful woman,” Yang Yu said with a grin.
“You really don’t give up, do you?” Ding Dian sighed. “Listen, I already have a boyfriend, and I’m not the kind of person you think I am.”
“That doesn’t matter. Whether you have a boyfriend or not isn’t important,” Yang Yu said, smiling. “What matters is that I like you. Understand?”
“Understand what?!” Ding Dian rolled her eyes. “Who do you think you are? You like me? Well, I don’t like you.”
Is this guy insane?
Doesn’t he fear biting his tongue with all that arrogance? Ding Dian thought to herself.
“Doesn’t matter if you don’t like me now. It’s only a matter of time,” Yang Yu said nonchalantly.
Frustrated, Ding Dian turned and walked away.
Talking to this guy will be the death of me.
He’s shameless. Absolutely shameless.
Evening
Before long, the afternoon passed, and Ding Dian finished her shift. As she left, Yang Yu followed behind her.
“Are you serious? I’m off work now! Why are you still following me?” she snapped.
“I always keep my promises. I said I’d take you home, so I will,” Yang Yu replied casually.
“If I let you take me home, will you stop bothering me after that?”
“Why do you make it sound like I’m harassing you? I’m just worried about your safety. A girl walking home alone isn’t safe,” he said. Then, with a smirk, he added, “By the way, didn’t you say you have a boyfriend? Why isn’t he here to pick you up?”
“He’s not as free as you. My boyfriend is a shareholder in a design company. He’s been busy with a big business deal,” Ding Dian said proudly.
Yang Yu teased, “He’s not some seventy-year-old sugar daddy, is he?”
“What do you take me for?!” Ding Dian huffed.
“Haha, just joking.”
Yang Yu enjoyed teasing her.
They walked side by side to the street, where Ding Dian tried to hail a taxi. Yang Yu stood quietly beside her, pulling out a thick wad of cash and once again proving his persistence through action.
Ding Dian rolled her eyes.
“Fine! I’ll let you take me home this once.”
But after a moment, she noticed Yang Yu wasn’t moving.
“Aren’t you going to get the car? I already agreed,” she asked.
“You think I’m stupid? You’re trying to trick me like yesterday,” Yang Yu said.
“Haha! That was a coincidence! This time, I won’t trick you, I promise,” Ding Dian laughed, remembering how, the moment Yang Yu left to get his car yesterday, a taxi had conveniently pulled up, allowing her to escape.
It really was just a coincidence.
“Then come with me,” Yang Yu said, grabbing her hand and leading her to the parking lot.
Ding Dian sighed and followed him.
“Wow! I didn’t expect you to be a real rich guy,” she said, eyes sparkling as she admired the Lamborghini Reventón.
She immediately pulled out her phone, snapping several photos to post on her social media.
“Do you like it?” Yang Yu asked.
“If you do, I’ll give it to you.”
He spoke so casually, as if this multimillion-dollar sports car was just some cheap giveaway.
“So, you’re not just a loafer—you’re actually a super-rich second-generation heir?” Ding Dian looked at him in surprise. “With all this money, you must have plenty of girlfriends. Why are you wasting time messing with me?”
Yang Yu just smiled. He still had Lin Jia on his mind. He wasn’t about to act like some devoted gentleman in front of Ding Dian.
As they got in the car, Ding Dian kept snapping photos and posting them.
“Aren’t you afraid your boyfriend will see and misunderstand?” Yang Yu asked.
Ding Dian lifted her chin proudly. “Hmph! Let him feel a little jealous. I’m a hot commodity, you know.”
“Haha! I like that,” Yang Yu laughed. “If you were my girlfriend, I’d drop everything just to be with you 24/7.”
“Wouldn’t even leave the bedroom,” he added with a wink.
Ding Dian responded with an exaggerated eye roll.
