Chapter 13 - Money Feels Good
Chapter 13: Money Feels Good
“Hmph! So what if you’re rich?”
Ding Dian’s expression darkened when she heard Yang Yu say, “Money makes the mare go.”
What did he take her for?
Did he really think he could just throw money at her?
“Is that all you wanted to say?” she asked coldly. “Are we done now? Can I leave?”
Yang Yu grinned. “I like your attitude. I admire strong-willed people like you. I hope you can keep that up.” He paused, then continued, “But today, I’m going to prove to you—being rich is a big deal.”
“Sorry, but you’re just wasting your time,” Ding Dian snapped.
“How about ten million?” Yang Yu said suddenly.
Her heart skipped a beat. Instinctively, she swallowed.
Ten million…
She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t tempted.
How long would it take her to earn that much money?
But selling herself for money? That was something she just couldn’t do.
“Sorry, not interested,” she forced herself to say.
“Twenty million,” Yang Yu countered.
Crack!
Ding Dian’s grip tightened around the beer can, crushing it slightly.
Seeing her reaction, Yang Yu smirked. She’s wavering.
“If you agree, I’ll transfer the money to you right now. No one will ever know. You can pocket a clean twenty million, and your boyfriend will never find out. It’s a win-win, isn’t it?”
“I… I…”
Ding Dian wanted to refuse, but the words got stuck in her throat.
It was twenty million.
An amount most people wouldn’t make in a lifetime.
And all she had to do was nod.
Noticing her hesitation, Yang Yu chuckled. Damn, being rich is amazing.
“Thirty million.”
He leaned closer. “Think about it. Your boyfriend is out there fooling around every night. Has he ever truly cared about you? And even if you reject this thirty million for his sake, do you really think he’d appreciate it?”
“I…”
Ding Dian’s expression wavered. A fierce battle raged in her heart.
Yang Yu knew—she was already on the edge.
Love?
When faced with money, emotions crumbled like sandcastles.
If someone resisted money’s pull, it only meant one thing—the price wasn’t high enough.
Just raise the bid.
To him, money was just numbers on a screen.
“Think carefully. This is a one-time offer.” He leaned in and whispered, “If you stay silent, I’ll take it as a yes.”
Then, without waiting for an answer, he reached into her bag, pulled out her wallet, found her bank card, and made a call.
Ding Dian’s expression changed repeatedly, but she didn’t stop him.
And that said it all.
A minute later, her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen.
[Your account ending in 5810 has received ¥30,000,000. Balance: ¥30,858,241. – ICBC]
Her mind spun as she stared at the message.
Just a few minutes ago, she had firmly rejected his offer.
And now…
But thirty million—it was a fortune she’d never make in a lifetime.
She tried to speak, but the words wouldn’t come out.
“Hahaha!”
Yang Yu burst into laughter.
He pulled her into his arms and carried her toward the bedroom.
After this, could she ever refuse him again?
Even Ding Dian wasn’t sure.
—
The night passed in silence.
The next morning, golden sunlight poured through the window, filling the bedroom with warmth.
Suddenly, a phone rang, jolting Yang Yu awake. He groggily checked the time—7 a.m.
Irritated, he picked up. “What?”
“Mr. Yang, I’ve completed the investigation you requested. I just sent you the report,” a respectful voice said on the other end.
“Good job. Go to Secretary An and collect a one-million bonus. Tell her it’s from me,” Yang Yu said casually before hanging up.
The call was from the investigator he had hired to look into Ding Dian’s background.
Not that it mattered anymore.
