Chapter 112: The Dog with a Broken Spine
“Is Luo Zixuan’s arm wrecked?”
“I didn’t expect the cuckold to be that vicious. I hope he didn’t hear me call him that.”
“This is going to blow up. How could the Luo family just let Ye Chen off the hook? I wonder if the Li family will side with Ye Chen and support him.”
This wedding has turned into a joke, one event after another.
“Zixuan, are you alright?” Li Ting knelt down, looking anxiously at Luo Zixuan.
By that time, Luo Zixuan had already passed out from the pain, his right arm utterly destroyed. In a fit of anger, Li Ting stood up, swung her hefty palm, and slapped Ye Chen across the face. It was utterly unexpected to Ye Chen that he didn’t even dodge it.
“What do you mean by this, Li Ting?” Ye Chen’s body radiated a cold murderous intent.
“You went too far, hitting Zixuan that hard,” Li Ting shouted at Ye Chen.
“Wow, I didn’t see this twist coming. Poor Ye Chen,” Chen Luo commented, his words dripping with pity, though his expression was one of malicious delight.
Her slap added insult to injury for Ye Chen, drawing judgmental stares from others after their initial shock.
The older attendees were somewhat reserved, mindful of preserving some dignity for the Li family and Ye Chen, but the younger crowd had no such qualms about disrespecting Ye Chen.
“My dad even said I should learn from Ye Chen. Learn what, exactly?” Wang Fei looked at Ye Chen with scorn.
He was Wang Hong’s son, who had always urged him to learn from Ye Chen, praising Ye Chen’s virtues. And the outcome? A man who had been cuckolded and publicly humiliated by his wife, a complete and utter failure. Was he expected to learn how to be a failure from him?
Furious, Ye Chen raised his fist.
“Ye Chen, you dare,” bellowed Li Zhong in anger.
“Don’t be impulsive, Ye Chen.”
Wang Hong hurried over to restrain Ye Chen. Upon seeing Ye Chen’s treatment of Luo Zixuan, Wang Hong realized the situation was problematic. If Ye Chen also attacked Li Ting, the Li family would become his enemy as well.
“Think of the bigger picture,” Wang Hong murmured to Ye Chen.
Ye Chen, overwhelmed by anger and humiliation, felt like he was being viewed as a clown by everyone around him. How much longer was he supposed to endure?
Why did he even return to this country? Life was so carefree abroad, where no one dared to trouble him, and those who did wouldn’t live to see another sunrise.
Not letting anger cloud his judgment, Ye Chen’s rationality prevailed, and he lowered his raised hand.
“A dog with a broken spine.”
Though Chen Luo’s voice was not loud, it crisply reached Ye Chen’s ears. Ye Chen sharply turned to look at Chen Luo. He knew Chen Luo was referring to him as the dog with a broken spine. Indeed those words described Ye Chen’s current pitiable state.
“First, make a call and get Luo Zixuan to the hospital,” Chen Luo instructed Elsa.
Even though Chen Luo had hoped to see Luo Zixuan killed by Ye Chen, since Luo Zixuan was still alive, he felt obliged to intervene. After all, he and Luo Mingde were still in a cooperative relationship.
Ah Da and his two companions glanced at Chen Luo, then, seemingly on his cue, launched an attack on Ye Chen.
Ye Chen was startled by their sudden move. Having faced them before, he was aware he couldn’t overpower these three.
In the onslaught from Ah Da and his team, Ye Chen found himself forced to defend and evade. Yet, their fight was incredibly eye-opening.
Were they even human?
Toughened glass, impervious to hammers, was shattered with a single punch. The floor bore the brunt of their force, marked by numerous large holes. Their speed was so fast it seemed to transcend human limits, blurring their movements to the onlookers.
“Stop it!” Li Zhong shouted angrily.
However, his commands fell on deaf ears. Ah Da and his group only listened to Chen Luo, and upon his signal, they pressed their attack on Ye Chen with renewed ferocity.
“His strength has improved somewhat.”
Chen Luo observed Ye Chen with narrowed eyes, noting his progress. True to his role as the protagonist, he had managed to improve in such a short span. Yet, he was still significantly outmatched by Chen Luo. In a confrontation against Chen Luo, Ah Da and his team would be easily defeated, whereas Ye Chen could only manage to defend and dodge when faced with their collective assault.
In a one-on-one fight, any member of Ah Da’s team wouldn’t stand a chance against Ye Chen at this moment. However, when they joined forces, they could beat Ye Chen senselessly.
Despite Ye Chen’s agility and quick reflexes, he still took several hits.
“Dad, you have to help Ye Chen,” Li Ting implored Li Zhong.
Li Ting changed sides quickly. She had just slapped Ye Chen a moment ago and now was requesting Li Zhong to help for him.
“How can I help?” Li Zhong asked Li Ting, clearly annoyed.
Their fight wasn’t something others could simply intervene in.
Today had been an eye-opener for Li Zhong, realizing human combat abilities could reach such extents, also proving Ye Chen wasn’t entirely worthless.
His daughter’s concerns shifted quickly, worrying about Luo Zixuan’s injuries one moment and then Ye Chen’s condition the next.
At this time, Chen Luo had contacted Luo Mingde to inform him about Luo Zixuan’s broken arm. Luo Mingde was already on his way.
Simultaneously, the police had been called, and it seemed unlikely that Ye Chen could be subdued before their arrival.
“I need to find an opportunity to personally deal with Ye Chen.”
A glint of determination flashed in Chen Luo’s eyes. Considering the current weakening of Ye Chen’s protagonist aura, while killing him might be difficult, disabling him should not be.
Observing Ye Chen’s improved abilities, Chen Luo decided it was prudent to find an opportunity to incapacitate him, targeting either his arms or legs, to reduce his combat effectiveness as a first step.
Soon after, an ambulance arrived, and Luo Zixuan was taken to the hospital. The arrival of the police also stopped the ongoing fight. Knowing that Ah Da and his team couldn’t defeat Ye Chen, Chen Luo straightforwardly told them to stop.
“Chen Luo, where’s my son?” Luo Mingde, out of breath, asked upon arrival.
“He’s been taken to the hospital,” Chen Luo informed Luo Mingde.
“How are his injuries?”
Chen Luo honestly responded, “Quite severe. His right arm was broken from a kick. From how it looked, it’s likely a comminuted fracture. It’s uncertain whether he’ll recover, even with surgery.”
Upon learning of Luo Zixuan’s severe injuries, Luo Mingde was unable to sit still. He shot a furious glare at Ye Chen and Li Zhong. For now, settling scores was put aside, confirming his son’s condition was his priority.
The guests who attended the wedding began to depart, this incident was likely to become fodder for gossip.
“Let’s head out,” Chen Luo suggested.
As they were leaving, Chen Luo cast a glance at Gu Wanyu, who promptly turned her head away, perhaps out of anger.
She now realized that Chen Luo’s identity was far from that of a simple waiter. She had even contemplated supporting him financially.
A man who could talk as an equal with Luo Mingde and face Li Zhong’s threats without batting an eyelid could never be just anyone. She suspected his approach had been intentional, with a definite motive behind it.
The thought that Chen Luo had approached her with a hidden agenda soured Gu Wanyu’s mood.
Though Chen Luo noticed Gu Wanyu’s anger, he was not concerned. Anger was a natural response, it suggested there was still a chance for something between them. If she hadn’t gotten angry, that would have meant no chance existed at all.
After this event, it was time to seriously consider giving Li Zhong a real scare.
At that moment, Li Zhong’s brow furrowed, feeling as if someone was planning to stab him in the back.
