Vampire: World of Blood

Chapter 197: Djinn I

Merciless remained within his reality sphere, his mind wandering as his presence extended far beyond the confines of the Azamite's imaginary territory. Within its bounds lay an infinite expanse, yet outside, it stretched as vast as an entire planet. This peculiar configuration was the unique nature of the Veyna's Glenda Box.

By Azamite standards, it defied the usual principles of imaginary territories they can create via their racial trait of spatial manipulation. To Merciless, however, after using his eyes to see the truth of the domain itself, or the information behind it, he came to realize that Lady Veyna's domain was like this as a result of her family secret techniques forged through numerous contracts.

It was petty; it was too complex to copy, or rather he personally needed more time to study it and in better conditions, then and again it required immense insight into the Azamite racial speciality with the combination of multiple contracts at work.

He knew the secret and the terms of the contract but not the family secret itself, or rather not the means by which this level of control over space could be implemented.

He couldn't help but admire it. Truly, this imaginary space was akin to a divine technique. An Azamite's imaginary space was a separate dimension born from their own thoughts.

Each space housed a unique ability, infinite in scale and potential. This unparalleled trait allowed lower-level Azamite vampires to contend with higher-level opponents on equal footing to some extent.

These spaces functioned as personal domains, each with its own unique effect. Not only do they amplify the Azamite's abilities across the board, but they also grant them infinite reach within the boundaries of their space's effect.

From Hector's memories, the way this space operated was that this Azamite territory resembled something akin to a divine technique, which is a special technique that required the use of divine energy.

Divine energy itself was the force capable of manipulating the fundamental laws of the universe.

In the lower plane of existence, often referred to as the lower realm of the universe, anything considered a "concept" was, in truth, a manifestation of these laws.

Mastering any concept within creation required an understanding of the subjective laws underpinning it. Over time, this mastery would lead to more complex branches of the concept upon reaching the higher plane.

For instance, speed is a fundamental law of the lower universe, but mastery over it can eventually branch into the concepts of time. Similarly, anyone seeking to command the prime concept of destruction must first master the law of death, as destruction inherently governs over death, or death is one way to get in touch with destruction.

In this lower plane, mastering concepts means mastering their corresponding laws. Only by reaching the pinnacle of a law can one transcend and access the universal concepts that exist above and beyond the laws themselves.

Yet, like all Azamite territories, escape was no trivial matter. Once inside, one would need energy equivalent to destroying an entire universe just to break free. And despite his inability to escape by conventional means, Merciless knew he was far from powerless.

The world around him teemed with truths, or rather, raw information, for him to seize and manipulate. As time passed, his understanding grew deeper, and with it, his ability to alter his surroundings through sheer force of will as a result of his eyes.

His presence itself was an abstract extension of his being, an intangible force that housed all his senses, including sight.

As such, he was planning to come out of this space.

He did not want to stay here, much less join with Jordan and the team; he at this point had his own agenda.

So when he detected the energies of Jordan and Albedo Aura, Merciless made a deliberate choice: he concealed his presence and energy signature so completely that it was as though he had erased himself from existence via the use of Ultimate Veil.

To any observer, even one as powerful as Albedo, he was now a ghost, undetectable and untraceable.

It wasn't that he had truly disappeared. Instead, he had hidden the memory and essence of his presence so thoroughly that it was as if he'd taken an eraser to reality itself.

Jordan had claimed to have a plan for the group to pass their current test. But things had changed. If Merciless had still been the weak, inexperienced version of himself—the level 2 novice who barely understood his potential—he might have followed along without question.

But those days were long behind him.

His rapid growth, his strange body, and his newfound role and title as an Arbiter had elevated him far beyond the others. He no longer felt obligated to conform to their level.

Perhaps it was pride speaking, but Merciless couldn't help but see the truth for what it was.

He sighed, muttering to himself as he thought further.

"There is a path I wish to take—a line I want to join. But to join that line, I must offer a sacrifice...

"And not just any sacrifice...

Merciless paused, his eyes narrowing as his thoughts turned inward.

"If I can join that spawn lineage... I could deal with the gods directly—through a far more absolute method—once I cultivate my power to its ultimate state."

"Or that is what the primix dimension is telling through these eyes of mine."

From the memories of the Queen, he had glimpsed a secret—he knew of a place. This altar, he realized, was a gateway, a means to align himself with one of the Originators themselves.

According to the Queen's knowledge, this particular Originator prized secrets above all else. You could say she is a collector of sorts; it is hard to get her attention. If anything, he himself does not know if he can succeed in what he wants to do.

But he has a plan.

If Merciless could present a secret impressive enough, he could gain access to her favor—and with it, a direct line to the very predation of the divine.

As such, he began to speak.

"Substance is here before me."

He said, and moments later, his word, which was law, was abided, as Substance suddenly appeared before him.

There were no effects, no nothing; her appearance before him just was.

"That's why I think we should bear his chi... ha... what?!"

Her words trailed off, her thoughts interrupted as realization dawned upon her

"Ana… eh?!

Substance said, her eyes tilting towards Merciless.

"...Oh, Master! It's you!...

She exclaimed, her voice trembling with excitement. Her small figure quivered with barely-contained energy as she clasped her hands to her chest, her cheeks flushed in a mix of adoration and exhilaration.

Without hesitation, she darted toward him, a gleeful squeal escaping her lips as she launched herself through the air.

"Master~!"

But before she could reach him, one of Merciless's tails unfurled with effortless precision, catching her midflight. The tail coiled gently around her, suspending her just inches from him as she flailed playfully, her face alight with pure joy.

"Well, aren't you overly excited?

Merciless as Substance pouted, though her wide grin betrayed her delight.

"Of course I am! It's you! Oh, Master, it's been forever! I've missed you so much I thought I might just... die as a result of a lack of your presence. You have no idea how worried I was when it suddenly vanished; not even Ana could have traced you."

She trailed off, her eyes glittering with a mischievous but worried glint.

Merciless raised an eyebrow at her exaggerated display, his tail still holding her suspended mid-air.

Merciless raised an eyebrow at her exaggerated display, his tail still holding her suspended mid-air.

"Woman It's literally been only, like, I don't know, twenty minutes since we last spoke."

He said dryly, his voice laced with mild incredulity.

Substance's pout deepened, her lips forming a perfect little sulk as she crossed her arms.

"Twenty minutes without you feels like an eternity, Master! Do you have any idea how boring it gets without your presence? I could feel my very essence fading, you know, and Ana company, though nice, is not enough to sustain my meaning to life."

"Fading, huh?"

Merciless said, his tone flat but with a subtle smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He lowered her slightly and looked down. With his large size of over 8 feet tall and Substance being only 5"3, he had to lower his head, and she had to look up just so they were eye level.

As he said to her.

"Sounds dramatic even for you."

Substance's demeanor shifted instantly. Her crimson eyes sparkled, and she clasped her hands together in a fervent display of devotion.

"But it's true! You're the very center of my universe! Without you, everything feels so... so dull and lifeless!"

"Dull, lifeless, and twenty minutes old."

Merciless sighed, releasing her gently from his tail. She landed gracefully on her feet but immediately lunged forward, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.

"I don't care!"

She declared, burying her face into his lower stomach with an affectionate hum.

"I'm here now, and that's all that matters!"

Merciless sighed as he said.

"I would say your one crazy bitch... but I did make you that way, so I plead the fifth."

"Hehehehe...

Substance laughed to herself as she leaned into the gesture or her making, her grin widening as if she'd just received the greatest reward imaginable.

"That's because I'm yours! And I'll always be yours, Master!"

"Tell me something I don't know already."

Said Mercilesss as he looked at Substance who tilted her head up to look at him, her neon blue eyes sparkling with mischief and affection.

"That I am best girl!"

She blunted stated with pride, and continued.

"Mhm I'm the best, right?"

She chirped, her voice dripping with unfiltered glee.

"You're something."

He replied dryly yet again.

Without another word, he placed a hand atop her head, his palm resting gently on her soft golden hair.

And then he began to pat her.

The effect was immediate. Substance froze for a split second, her neon blue eyes widening, before she let out a strange, high-pitched whimper that was somewhere between a squeal and a delighted yip. Her cheeks flushed as her legs wobbled slightly, and then, unable to contain herself, she began making soft, bizarre sounds, something akin to a puppy trying to bark and purr at the same time.

"W-Wha—Master! Hnnnngh!!!...

She squeaked, leaning heavily into his touch. Her body trembled with exaggerated delight, and her previously composed demeanor dissolved completely.

"Muroomurooomurrrooomurooomoruuuu... Haaa… M-more!...

Merciless raised an eyebrow, his hand still moving rhythmically.

"You're making weird noises."

He said flatly but an amuse smirk on his face, though he didn't stop as he continue to spoil his pet slime girl a bit.

Substance's eyes were half-lidded now, her expression was that of pure bliss.

But she tried to reply nonethelesss.

"I-I can't help it! You're so mean, Master, but this feels so… so good."

She babbled, her voice slurring slightly as if drunk on his attention. She buried her face into his stomach even deeper; her muffled giggles and playful growls vibrating against him.

"You really are like a dog."

He said, exhaling as though dealing with a troublesome pet.

Substance wagged her head side to side, letting an excited

"Awoo...

before looking up at him with dire wolf eyes, a pair of golden dire wolf ears, and wolf tail as she said playfully.

"But I'm your dog, Master!"

"That's… not something to be proud of."

Merciless replied, his tone calm but tinged with a faint smirk. He kept patting her head, watching her devolve further into happy, puppy-like noises, her earlier smugness replaced entirely by raw, unrestrained adoration.

Eventually, he stopped, withdrawing his hand. Substance let out a dramatic whine, clutching at his waist as if to demand more.

"Maaaaster! You can't just stop like that! I was… I was in heaven!"

However both his hands, larger than even her head, yet very gentle grap her at the shoulder as he said.

"I'll spoil you some more later when we're alone."

Merciless said, his voice calm yet firm.

"For now, I have a mission for you. But first, I need all your points. Don't worry—you'll make plenty more on this mission I'm sending you on anyway. At your level, and with Xana by your side, you will be alright."

Substance's then said.

"Ohhh, Master wants my points? Fine, fine~ Anything for you!"

Without hesitation, she accessed the Ceridwen network and transferred all her points to Merciless, her expression a mix of eagerness and pride.

"Good."

Merciless said, scanning the total.

"This should be enough. I've spotted five Djinn in this area, but one of them… one of them has caught my attention. To deal with that one, I'll need a significant amount of points."

He glanced at her, his neon blue eyes gleaming faintly.

"Now, Substance, listen carefully. I'm going to make you my apostle. But I'll need you to fill in for me as well. You'll become my stand-in my proxy. You'll go with Jordan and the others; they still owe us 50% of the loot. Collect what they owe and don't hold back, squeeze every last drop out of them."

Substance perked up at the directive, her playful demeanor giving way to sharp focus.

"While you're at it."

He continued, his voice taking on a commanding edge.

"There are seven level-fives left in this space, along with their servants. Kill them all and take as many souls as you can. Leave nothing behind.... if you meet an oppoent that is too strong for you, dont be fool and take them on, nothng is cowardly in running away from something far beyond you in power."

Her grin turned wicked, her blue eyes went demonic crimson as they glowing faintly. He cute personality was nowhere to be found at this moment as she said.

"Consider it done, Master."

"But before you go."

Merciless added, stepping closer, his gaze locking onto hers.

"Take 4 of my tails with you."
