Chapter 1406: The Nightmare Is Finally Over
-----
"Is the nightmare finally over?"
Elfriedden looked into the skies, the dark clouds disappeared, and now the bright clear blue sky and the bright sunrays bathed through the continent of Alfheim.
The wasteland rapidly started to change from where he stood, a tall fortress, he saw how the gigantic world tree, Yggdrasil, had been fully revived.
The massive tree spread out their roots across the continent and the underground, as life and spiritual energy finally started pumping into the continent after over a decade since the capital was destroyed.
He was able to easily detect that Fafnir's presence, and that of his powerful children, all disappeared just a few minutes ago…
At the end, Blake was right, he didn't need their help at all and simply needed them in the other places he couldn't cover himself.
He, just with Braveblitz and Rainbow Star, killed the terrifying Fafnir, a monster among monsters with that had conquered an entire continent and suppressed a whole race.
"The warm sun, the blue sky, the green forests… It's all back… Yggdrasil, our goddess…"
As Elfriedden glanced into the distance, surrounded by various elven knight spirits, made from the souls of the many knights that died protecting their city, he ended crying, shedding several tears of happiness.
"At long last, your majesty."
"After so long…"
"Our continent, after so many died, it finally knows peace once more…"
"Please, don't cry, there's now a bright future for you!"
As the spirt knights cheered for Elfriedden, he noticed Erdrich walking towards him, Elfriedden panicked slightly.
"What? Are you going to mock me now? Yes I am crying, so what?!"
"…"
However, Erdrich didn't mock him, he didn't laugh at him either, he simply walked to his side and then spread his arms, hugging him.
"Eh?!"
Elfriedden was shocked that the usually cocky Erdrich would suddenly hug him out of nowhere!
He really expected him to mock him or something but…
"I'm glad for you, Elfriedden… your home is finally back. You've endured a lot, haven't you, friend?"
"Erdrich…"
Elfriedden looked at his friend, realizing that Edrich, despite his jokes or attitude, was a true friend that cared for him.
"Yeah… Thank you for helping me so far… friend."
"Hahaha! No need to mention it! Alright, I bet you want to go see your girlfriend right away, don't you? Time to claim this entire land as your kingdom! Are you going to be the new king now?"
"T-That's… We still need a lot of time to decide such things. But Rosen is… well, she's eager to become queen, I cannot disappoint her."
"Hmm! Well said, I know it's very sad to talk of such things on these lands, where so many perished… but there's no point in simply not addressing, even less in not taking the opportunity now that you have it."
"I know… I know that very well, Erdrich. Thank you for the reminder though. Let's go back with Blake and the rest… I feel like someone is calling me too."
"Someone?"
"Yeah…"
Elfriedden looked into the distance, at the Yggdrasil tree, his bright eyes looking at her with both sorrow and happiness mixed together.
"I can hear her voice. She's calling me, Yggdrasil."
"The tree…? She can talk?!"
"Of course she can talk you… Ahem! Yes, she can talk."
Elfriedden tried to contain his bad temper, knowing that Erdrich was someone that came from another whole continent, of course he wouldn't know these things, even less to address Yggdrasil with proper manners and respect.
"And what is she saying?"
"She wants to see me, to meet me… Whatever it is, it's important. And she wants you to also come… and they."
He looked at the spirit elf knights, who smiled, nodding by Elfriedden's side.
As the group decided to return back to Blake and their friends in the capital, a giant draconic claw manifested out of nowhere.
Ethereal, made of stars and spirit power, it grabbed them, moving from one place to another in an instant.
.
.
.
"Looks like Blake made it!"
"Yeah… I'm so happy for the elves!"
"Heh, never doubted my bro."
Eric, Alberta, and Chris smiled atop a pile of burnt corpses, the countless foes they had vanquished and defeated were now littering through the ruined city they were sent to.
It had been a couple of minutes since everything finally ended, the great war that took over the entire continent was finally over, and although the elves had almost gone extinct, at the end, they were able to survive until it was finally over.
With over 90% of their population gone, elves had now become an endangered species, close to extinction, if it wasn't for the few thousand left in the Port City. Once one of the strongest nations in the entire world, they were now reduced to this…
Despite having a whole continent back, with their level of population, it would be impossible to repopulate the entire land on its own.
"A lot is going to happen now…" Eric said. "And yet, despite what's coming, I can't help but feel like something is approaching…"
"Me too…" Chris said. "We've beaten a lot of those Archdemons, right? And whatever Fafnir was, he was plenty strong too…"
"The only battlefield left is… the central continent's north, where the forces of the continental alliance are fighting the invading demons from the dark continent," Alberta said. "Our last… battle is approaching, I think. Not just for us but… all of humanity."
"Before that, I would love to go visit your home though, Alberta," Eric said. "We should work on clearing your name with your dad, once we show him everything you've accomplished, I'm sure he'll change his mind about you."
"E-Eric…" Alberta blushed, realizing that her boyfriend wanted to go so far for her. "Really? Would you do this for me?"
"Of course! Chris here will also help right?" Eric asked.
"Eh, yeah sure… I guess Alberta's my friend too," Chris nodded. "Right?"
"Of course Chris!" Alberta giggled innocently. She was very adorable, it made Chris get a bit jealous of Eric, he really won the lottery with the girl.
"Alright, we should get going and-"
Before Eric could finish his sentence, a giant dragon jaw appeared in front of them, opening and devouring them and teleporting them to the capital.
