NOVEL WEB Chapter 103: Touching Moment
"Hey, you two. I get this is a really touching moment where you brought the gal you liked back to life and all, but if you're going to take it any further than kissing, please get a room," Ralph said. "The kissing is fine. I just know how you kids are with your 'whoops there goes my belt! Oops I'm pregnant again!' shenanigans."
"I know they say 'sharing is caring', but please don't share your intimate moment with me. As I said, kissing is fine. Just no penises and vaginas. I'm sure you both have very nice ones, but I'd rather not know than know. You know what I mean?"
I took a moment to pause from attempting to kiss Mira to death and said, "I get it. We'll keep our penises and vaginas to ourselves. Now if you'll excuse us a moment and go tend shop and run interference with the authorities, I'd really appreciate it," I said.
I pulled a wad of cash out of my system wallet and threw it at Ralph. Unfortunately, I didn't check to see if it was banded together before I threw it. It was not. So $10,000 went flying all over the room. One of the bills landed on Ralph's face, and he blew it off.
"Eh, alright, I'll give yous two a moment. Just no—" He said.
"Penises and vaginas. I get it," I said.
As soon as Ralph closed the door, Mira was taking off my shirt. "Hey, didn't you hear what Ralph just said?" I said.
"He said no penises and vaginas. He didn't say no pecs and abs. I want to cuddle and feel your muscles!" She said.
"Ok, I guess I'll allow it," I said, faking exasperation.
Mira took off my shirt and her eyes went wide when she saw my chiseled upper body. All that cultivation and life essence stealing and fighting had really paid off. I was a bit of a specimen at this point. A fine piece of man meat. A hunk, you might say.
"Oh my god. You're gorgeous! Look at your body! I just want to touch you all over!" Mira said, and squealed in delight.
I had never had someone go gaga over my body like this before. It wasn't something I was used to, but I liked it. And touch me all over she did. Well, all over my upper body. We still stuck to Ralph's rules.
After she seemed satisfied, and started snuggling up to me on the hard concrete floor, I lifted her chin to look me in the eyes, and said, "Now it's my turn to gush over you. I can't get over how cute you are. I just want to stare at your face all day," I said.
I kissed her, and then we started making out again. We did that for a bit, and then we just laid on the ground and cuddled each other face to face. Well, her face was resting against my chest, so it wasn't exactly face to face, but you get what I'm saying.
She put her chin on my shoulder, and then stiffened. Something was wrong, but I didn't know what it was.
"What's wrong?" I said.
"Why does your shadow look like that? Why does it look like a dog with no head? And why is it stretching to the other side of the room? Shouldn't it be under you?" She said.
"Oh. That's another vampire thing. It's my soul beast. My soul beast is linked to my shadow, so it always looks like the shape of my soul beast. I'm surprised your the first person who has noticed that," I said.
"Oh," she said, sounding puzzled. "You have a soul beast that kind of looks like a dog? Can I see it?"
"Uh, sure. And he's a he," I said.
"Ok. Can I see him? Pleeease?" She said. She started drumming her fingers on my back in excitement.
"Ok, hold on. I have to concentrate," I said.
I focused and manifested Midas's physical form. He looked the same as ever. Like a medium sized dog with no head, white fur, golden eyes all over and a golden mouth where a head should be.
"Ooo, he's cute. I want to touch him!" She said.
"Midas, she wants to pet you," I said over my shoulder. Midas was behind me.
"His name is Midas? Oh, because of the gold. That's cool," she said.
Midas padded over to us and Mira put her hands on him and started petting him and caressing his soft fur. He seemed to like it.
I could feel his enjoyment and satisfaction flow through me, but even though he embodied my soul, it wasn't like experiencing my own feelings. It still very much felt like they were feelings he was voluntarily or accidentally sharing with me.
Mira played with Midas for a while and I laid there just relaxing and half paying attention to her mood. She seemed really happy in the moment.
"You must love animals," I said.
"I do! I would own one myself, but slave owners don't usually let their pets have pets," she said.
She pet Midas for so long, so vigorously, and so lovingly, that I felt a change in him. He made a decision, but I couldn't read his mind, so I didn't know what it was. He shared his feelings, not his exact thoughts. Sometimes I could infer what he wanted, but here I had no idea.
Midas neck butted my back a few times. He wanted me to get up and unentangle myself from Mira for some reason. I did as he wanted.
"He wants to give something to you as gift for being so genuinely nice to him for so long. He feels comfortable in your presence and he likes it. He wants to keep you around so he is attempting to bribe you. I mean, reward you for your kindness," I said.
I got a mild feeling of irritation from Midas at my comment about bribery, but it was there and then it was gone as quickly as it had come.
Midas started gagging like he was hacking up a fur ball, but after a minute, he hacked up something that looked nothing like a fur ball. It was purple with white twinkles like stars.
It was kind of a blob of goop on the ground. To me it looked like he'd hurled up some of the inside of his infinite dimensional pocket in his stomach.

He nudged it with a paw and pushed it at Mira. Mira knelt down and said, "For me?" She pointed to herself.
Midas kind of nodded by bobbing his shoulders up and down.
"Thank you!" She said, as she picked it up. It maintained its goopy semi orb like form in her hands without spilling over the sides. She looked at me. "What do I do with it?"
Midas mimed something by opening his mouth wide and closing it multiple times.
"Uh, I think he wants you to eat it," I said.
