Chapter 53: Taking over
Alex stood over Kingpin's motionless body, his breathing steady, the faint glow of demonic energy still fading from his hands.
Cypher stepped forward and said softly, "Let me handle the rest."
Then, with a dark smile, she devoured Fisk's body whole—her shadows wrapping around him like a cocoon, drawing him into the abyss. Not even a single bone remained. The infamous Kingpin had vanished, swallowed completely by the demoness.
Without another word, Alex turned toward the massive executive desk at the far end of the room. The top was cracked from their earlier fight, but the embedded computer terminal was still intact.
He tapped the screen. It blinked on—password locked.
"Cypher," Alex called, still staring at the monitor.
She stepped over to him, her eyes glowing faintly, calm and regal. "Yes?"
"Did you extract his memory files when you devoured him?" he asked.
Cypher grinned and raised her hand. A black crystal pulsed softly between her fingers.
"Already pulled everything from his neural interface," she confirmed. "Data. Backups. Vaults. Offshore accounts. Blackmail records. Everything."
Alex gave a short, satisfied nod. "Good."
He took the crystal and plugged it into the side port. The screen flickered, then came alive—Kingpin's entire empire began unfolding across the interface.
Real estate. Shell corporations. Bribery networks. Political blackmail. High-level weapon caches. Billions across hidden accounts.
Fisk hadn't just ruled with muscle.
He'd built infrastructure—a criminal machine with roots in every corner of the city.
Cypher leaned on the desk, watching Alex scroll. "So? Planning to wipe it all out?"
Alex's eyes stayed locked on the screen for a moment. Then he replied coldly:
"No. I'm going to take it all."
He turned slightly to look at her. "You devoured him, right? So… did you gain his skills too?"
Cypher tilted her head thoughtfully. "If you mean his business sense, strategy, and manipulation skills? Yes. His memories and instincts are part of me now."
Alex smirked. "Then from now on, you're the new Kingpin."
Cypher blinked, surprised. "Me?"
"Kingpin is just a title. And I don't think anyone else can hold it better than you now," he said smiling.
She paused… then slowly smiled. "If that's what you want."
Alex stepped forward, gently taking her hand.
"Come," he said with a half-grin. "My shadow queen. Sit on your new throne."
Cypher chuckled softly and walked beside him, her curves swaying as her long coat of living shadows trailed behind her.
But instead of sitting in the throne-like chair, she suddenly pushed Alex down into it, straddling his lap without hesitation.
"This queen," she purred, grinding her hips teasingly against him, "is only worthy of sitting on you."
Alex smirked, resting his hands on her waist. "You keep doing that, and I won't be able to focus."
She leaned closer, whispering near his ear, "But if I'm here… working for you… who will protect you?"
"Relax," Alex replied with a small smirk. "After your evolution, I got another opportunity. I can now summon one more demon."
He leaned back slightly. "So while you run things here, this new one can be my guardian. Someone to watch my back while you're managing the empire."
Cypher nodded, her eyes scanning the dark room. "Then you should summon it here. Right now."
She stepped toward the shattered windows, gazing out at the bloodstained skyline.
"This place is soaked in death, blood, and corrupted energy. Perfect conditions for a high-tier summoning… maybe even a Lord-class from the start."
Alex nodded in agreement.
He walked to the center of the office floor, where the broken tiles were still wet with blood—some of it his, most of it from Fisk's men.
With a single motion, he carved a glowing demonic summoning circle into the floor using his own blood and a drop of Cypher's dark essence.
The circle pulsed with a deep red glow, humming with raw, unstable power.
Alex stepped into the center of the summoning circle, holding up a soul-core crystal—gleaming black with red lightning swirling inside it like a storm trapped in stone.
Unlike the first time, when the system had assisted him in summoning Cypher, this time everything depended on him. No guidance. No shortcuts.
He had gathered enough gold coins by defeating powerful foes and even ordinary foes to purchase this particular Hell Lightning Core, one of the rarer and more volatile soul-core types.
It wasn't a random choice.
Cypher, as a Shadow Lord Demoness, specialized in stealth, control, and manipulation from the dark. But now, he needed balance. He needed raw power. A demon not to hide in shadows—but to burn through them.
A force of destruction to counterbalance Cypher's finesse.
He took a deep breath.
"Alright," he muttered. "Let's see who wants to join the family."
Then, without hesitation, he pressed the Hell Lightning Core into the center of the glowing sigil.
The circle responded instantly.
Crimson and violet arcs of lightning exploded outward, ripping through the air with a deafening crack. The floor beneath Alex pulsed with molten heat as black flames licked at the edges of the circle, and the entire room darkened, save for the brilliant, angry glow erupting from the center.
Cypher watched from the side with narrowed eyes. "Definitely not a subtle one," she muttered approvingly.
A violent vortex of energy formed, spiraling upward like a demonic twister. From within it, a voice roared—echoing like thunder across a stormy battlefield.
"Who dares to summon me?"
The figure that began to rise from the vortex was tall, graceful, and terrifyingly beautiful.
Easily over seven feet, she moved like lightning trapped in a woman's body—fluid, powerful, and radiant with lethal charm. Her skin was smooth and pale, almost glowing with a faint electric shimmer, while glowing red runes traced across her arms and legs like living tattoos.
Her body was athletic and sculpted for war, yet impossibly curvaceous—narrow waist, wide hips, full chest, and long, powerful legs that stepped with natural command. Two curved obsidian-black horns arched from each side of her temple, framing her sharp, seductive face and glowing crimson eyes that burned with arrogance and intelligence.
A long, whip-like tail tipped with lightning flicked playfully behind her. Her hair, black with streaks of red lightning, cascaded down her back in waves, brushing the top of her thighs.
As the energy storm faded and the summoning circle dimmed, she stepped fully into the room with perfect control—like she had always belonged.
