TripleTrouble

Chapter 5: Secret And Lies

Julian's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice tight with anxiety.

The woman hesitated before speaking. "I think Sophia's past might be catching up with her...or rather, her children."

Julian's eyes narrowed. "What are you talking about?"

The woman took a deep breath before speaking. "I've received some strange messages, Julian. Messages that suggest someone is looking for Sophia's children."

Julian's mind was racing with questions. Who could be looking for his children? And why?

Before he could ask any of these questions, the woman dropped another bombshell.

"Julian, I think you should take your children and go into hiding."

Julian's mind was reeling. Go into hiding? It sounded like something out of a movie. But as he looked into the woman's serious face, he knew she wasn't joking.

"What makes you think we're in danger?" Julian asked, trying to process the situation.

The woman hesitated before speaking. "I've seen some suspicious activity around your neighborhood. People lurking around, asking questions...I think it's only a matter of time before they find you."

Julian's heart was racing. He had to protect his children.

"Okay," he said finally. "I'll do it. I'll take my children and go into hiding."

The woman nodded, a look of relief on her face. "I'll help you," she said. "I'll provide you with a safe house and some resources. But you have to be careful, Julian. These people are ruthless."

Julian nodded, his mind racing with questions. Who were these people? And what did they want with his children?

The woman handed Julian a folder containing documents and a small device. "This is a secure phone," she explained. "Use it to contact me if you need anything. And be careful, Julian. These people will stop at nothing to get what they want."

Julian took the folder and device, feeling a sense of unease. Who were these people? And what did they want with his children?

He looked at the woman, who was watching him with a serious expression. "Who are you?" Julian asked, suddenly realizing he didn't know her name.

The woman hesitated before speaking. "My name is Rachel," she said. "And I'm Sophia's sister."

Julian's eyes widened in surprise. Sophia's sister? Why hadn't Sophia ever mentioned her?

But before he could ask any questions, Rachel turned to leave. "Remember, Julian, be careful. These people are watching."

And with that, she was gone.

Julian was left standing alone, his mind reeling with questions. Who was Rachel, really? And what did she know about Sophia's past?

He looked down at the folder Rachel had given him, filled with documents and photographs. As he flipped through the pages, he saw images of Sophia with people he didn't recognize.

One photo caught his eye: Sophia standing next to a tall, imposing man with a menacing scowl. Julian's instincts told him this was someone to be feared.

Suddenly, Julian heard a noise behind him. He turned to see his children walking into the room, looking curious.

"Daddy, what's going on?" one of them asked.

Julian hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But as he looked into their innocent faces, he knew he had to protect them at all costs.

"We're going on a trip," Julian said finally, trying to sound calm. "Just the four of us."

The children looked excited, but Julian knew this was no vacation. They were running for their lives.

Julian quickly packed some bags and gathered essentials for the children. As they drove away from their home, Julian couldn't shake the feeling they were being watched.

He glanced in the rearview mirror, seeing the children chattering excitedly in the backseat. They had no idea what was happening.

As they drove, Julian's phone buzzed with a text from Rachel: "They know you're leaving. Be careful."

Julian's heart racing, he sped up, weaving through traffic. Where could they go? Who could they trust?

Suddenly, an idea struck him. His business partner, Marcus, had a secluded cabin in the mountains. It was the perfect place to hide.

But as Julian dialed Marcus's number, he couldn't shake the feeling they were running out of time
