Trapped in the Underworld

Chapter 5: Chapter 5

I nodded. "I do."

"Then don't be reckless. Don't you know that if you die now, she would be the next scapegoat?" She had a point.

"Now, what do you want me to do?" I asked.

She smiled and said, "I'd love you to get up and take a warm bath. I'll bring another set of clothes for you. You'll be joining me in the kitchen as a maid too."

I wanted to say something to that, but I refrained myself. I'll take her advice. If this is the only way I can find Adriana, then so be it.

"Okay," I said, and she had a huge smile on her face.

She gave me a towel and showed me the restroom in the same room. "I'll go get you a clean set of clothes," she said, and I nodded at her thankfully.

She left to get me the clothes while I got up to take a warm bath. My body felt sore. It ached from all the beating. Once the hot water hit my body, it was soothing. I'd never felt this good in a long time. Life had been so hard that I didn't even bathe with hot water while I was living alone. I didn't have much money to fix the water heater. I'd been using my salary to pay debts I didn't even know anything about. Life was so cruel to me.

I got out a few minutes later, and my new clothes were on the bed. I wore the clothes. After I was done, the lady came to get me.

"It's about time I ask you for your name," I said. I couldn't keep referring to her as "the lady." There were several ladies here, so I needed a name.

She took me to the kitchen and introduced me to the other maids. I could see the look of disgust they had for me. I'm sure the wounds on my face made them have that way. No one wanted to associate with someone like me. I'd always found it hard to keep friends. Adriana was the only friend I'd had in years now. She is the only one that understands me more . This is why I get so worried if anything bad happens to her . She is my life saver .

"Ladies, this is our new maid, Amber," she said.

How did she know my name, and I didn't know hers?

"Treat her like a sister. We are here for the same reason, so please let's respect ourselves," she said to them, as if she knew that they would be difficult to work with. I'm definitely going to have a hard time working here . I don't want to be here.

Some waved at me while others acted like I didn't exist. I didn't really care that much. As long as I was being told what to do, I didn't care about anyone else here.

The lady shared duties for us. When it got to my turn, she said, "You'll follow me to the master's room. We need to clear up his room."

My heart sank when she said that. I didn't want to go to his room. What if he asked the guard to beat me again? I didn't want to be beaten.

She must have realized the look on my face because she said, "You don't have to worry about anything. I'll make sure I protect you from another beating as long as you do as I say."

I nodded. "Okay."

"Let's go," she said.

We walked through the hallway and we aren't there yet . I was tried of walking already . How come his room is this far . It was more like he purposely made sure his own room is far from the rest of the rooms.

She made a stop and knock on the door . When she didn't hear any sound she pushed the door inside and went inside . I followed her in .

The room was nearly made, and it didn't look like anyone had slept on the bed. But she still changed the bed sheet. We did it together. She taught me how it's done, and I watched her do it perfectly.

"I'm sure you'll be able to do it the best next time?" she asked, and I nodded. "I think so."

She had a smile on her face. "Don't worry, you'll get used to things around here."

I nodded my head. "Okay."

There was a knock on the door. We stared at the door, confused. "Who is there?"

The door got opened, and one of the maids came in. "Ma'am, there's a fight in the kitchen. Two of our maids are fighting."

The lady dropped what she was doing, and I was about to follow her, but she stopped me. "Finish up. I'm sure you saw how I did it right."

I couldn't decline, so I nodded my head. They ran out of the room and left me. I took my time to stare at the room. It was so huge and was painted with black and white. He must be a lover of black. That's how his heart is black too. Such an asshole.

I finished up what she started. Just when I thought I could have the best time, the door burst open, and my worst nightmare walked inside. My heart began to race. He locked the door, still unaware that I was there. What am I going to do?

He walked gently to the bed. There was something off about the way he was walking; suddenly, he fell to the floor. He groaned out in frustration, I guess. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if I should help out or not. Something in me was pushing me to go and help, but I couldn't. He was totally out of it.

He got up again, and that was when our eyes met. "You!"

"I...I," I couldn't say anything.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM!" His voice boomed.
