Transmigrating as an Extra, But the Heroine Has Regressed?!

Chapter 109: Crimpson eyes in the Fog!

The mist curled thicker around them.

Just when the team thought they had their enemies in sight, the fourth wolf struck.

It came from behind—silent as a phantom, fast as lightning. One moment there was nothing but fog, the next, a hulking shadow burst out of it, fangs bared and claws stretched wide.

Its crimson eyes locked on Mira.

"AHHHHH!" she screamed, stumbling backward, her staff nearly slipping from her trembling hands.

The flames at its tip flickered wildly as panic shattered her focus.

"OYYYYY!" Edwin's voice bellowed, crashing through the chaos like thunder.

From the side, the dagger-user burst out of the shadows with incredible speed. His blades flashed silver.

Shhhk!

He slashed across the wolf's glowing eye.

The beast let out a piercing howl, jerking its head violently as blood sprayed from the wound. In its rage, it snapped blindly, its massive jaws snapping shut inches from the boy's chest.

He barely managed to roll aside, the wolf's fangs grazing his sleeve and tearing the fabric.

Every heartbeat now was a gamble. Every breath felt like it could be their last. It doesn't feel like a battle—it was a desperate dance with death.

Then it happened.

CRUNCH!

The sickening sound echoed through the trees.

Leo—the spear-user—let out a strangled gasp as the second wolf's claws punched through his shoulder, pinning him to the trunk of a tree.

His spear slipped from his grip and fell to the forest floor with a dull thud. His eyes widened in shock and pain.

"LEO!" Ronan's roar thundered across the battlefield, fury and fear mixing in his voice.

"I—I can't—" Leo coughed blood, his voice broken and trembling. His body shook violently as the wolf yanked its claws free.

Then, like a predator playing with prey, the wolf tossed him aside. Leo's body flew limply, crashing into the dirt with a heavy thud. He rolled twice before lying still, groaning weakly.

"Alina! Heal him, now!" Edwin said in a desperate voice.

"I—I'm trying!" Alina stammered, stumbling forward. Her hands glowed faintly green as she poured every bit of focus she had into the spell. A gentle light spilled over Leo's battered body, closing the bleeding wounds slowly, but her hands were trembling.

Her voice shook. "The damage is too deep… I—I can't restore him fully!"

"It will take time to heal him."

Leo groaned, coughing up blood. The healing light soothed his pain, but the spark in his eyes was fading. His grip on his weapon was gone—his spear lay forgotten in the mud.

Edwin's jaw clenched. His heart twisted, but his mind stayed sharp.

"He's out. Don't force him back into the fight. Keep him alive—that's your only job now."

Alina nodded rapidly, tears stinging her eyes as she focused harder, her magic flaring brighter.

But Edwin's words weighed heavily on the group.

The reality was undeniable.

The team was down one fighter. Seven had entered the forest in their group. Now, only six remained in the fight.

And the wolves… were still circling.

Their growls echoed in the mist, low and hungry, as if mocking the humans who dared step into their territory.

The battle wasn't turning in their favor.

It was only getting worse.

The Spiral

The pack grew bolder. Their movements were no longer random strikes—they fought with purpose. They were hunting too.

The wolves circled tighter, their crimson eyes flickering in the fog like fiery embers. They weren't rushing recklessly anymore. They had learned. The mages were the weakest link.

"Hold formation!" Edwin said, his voice ragged but commanding.

But the wolves didn't care about orders. They pressed harder, their savage instincts perfectly tuned to the team's cracks.

One lunged at Ronan, its fangs scraping against his shield in a burst of sparks. He grunted, forcing it back—only to realize too late that by committing his whole weight forward, he had left his flank wide open.

"Tank, your side!" Edwin shouted.

It was too late.

The second wolf pounced from behind, claws slashing deep into his back.

RRRIP!

Metal shredded like paper as its talons tore through his armor. Blood sprayed across the mud, bright against the mist.

"ARGHHH!" Ronan roared in pain, stumbling to one knee. His shield dipped, and for a moment it looked like he would collapse entirely.

"Oyy, tank, stay with me!" Edwin snarled through gritted teeth, pushing forward with both swords. He intercepted another wolf mid-swipe, his blades clanging against its claws in a shower of sparks.

The impact jolted up his arms. His fingers numbed, and his muscles screamed. Even as the strongest swordsman of the first years, facing four Savage-rank wolves alone was suicide.

But there was no choice.

"Mira! Talia! NOW!" he barked.

The twins reacted instantly, desperation clear in their wide eyes.

Mira's staff flared crimson. "Fire Explosion!"

Talia's voice cut the air like ice. "Ice Spike Barrage!"

The ground erupted with fire and frost. A wave of flames exploded outward, engulfing the wolves in searing heat. At the same time, jagged ice spikes burst from the earth, tearing through the mist with sharp cracks.

BOOOM!

The forest was showered in fire and frozen shards. Smoke and steam filled the clearing, the stench of burnt fur and blood choking the air.

One wolf staggered out of the haze, limping heavily, a trail of blood dripping from its flank.

But none of them fell.

Not a single one.

The cost came swiftly.

The recoil from channeling so much mana at once drained the twins instantly. Their bodies trembled, their knees buckled, and the glow on their staves sputtered out.

Their breaths came ragged, shallow. They were exhausted… and defenseless.

The wolves struck like lightning.

The third wolf lunged straight for Mira. She raised her staff weakly, but her arms wouldn't move fast enough.

The beast's massive jaws clamped down, sinking into her arm with a sickening crunch.

"AHHHHHH!" Mira's scream split the night as blood sprayed across the dirt. She fell hard, her staff clattering beside her.

"MIRA!" Talia cried out, but her own scream was cut short.

The fourth wolf barreled into her, slamming her small body against the ground.

WHAM!

The air rushed from her lungs as the wolf's massive weight crushed her. She clawed desperately at the soil, trying to breathe.

"NO!"

Edwin roared. He dashed forward, his twin blades gleaming. He should have retreated, should have regrouped—but rage and instinct overtook reason.
