Chapter 45: Other's manifesting their abilities
When Luciel woke up the next day, Treyton wasn't by his side anymore. So, he went inside the grocery store and saw them having coffee while talking to each other.
"You're finally awake? Do you want to drink coffee?" Treyton said as soon as he sat next to him.
"No, I want to drink hot chocolate," Luciel said while leaning on Treyton.
He saw Ashlee drinking a chocolate drink, and it seemed to be delicious, so he also wanted one.
"Nina, prepare a hot chocolate for Ciel," Treyton ordered.
After hearing Treyton's order, Nina immediately prepared Luciel's drink and gave it to him.
Luciel drank hot chocolate while also listening to Treyton and the others' conversation.
"So, some zombies were significantly faster than others." Everyone has seen it, right?" Treyton asked.
"Yes, some zombies were really faster compared to the others. They were also obviously stronger than the others," Yang said.
"Yeah, when I hit those zombies that were a bit faster, I can feel that their bodies are tougher compared to the others. You need to hit them more compared to when dealing with the other zombies," Nathan also added.
"According to my observation in the past few days, the zombies that were faster than the others were the zombies that had already eaten humans.
I observed the zombies that successfully ate others and saw that they moved faster than the other zombies," Jasmine said.
"And those with abilities that were injured by the zombies won't be infected, but ordinary people will be infected?" Treyton asked.
"Yes, in the food hall that we stayed at, there were actually injured people when they came to the food hall.
The people who had abilities didn't turn into zombies when they were injured, but ordinary people who were only scratched by zombies turned into zombies afterwards.
But even if ordinary people were splashed by zombie blood, as long as they don't have an open wound, they wouldn't be infected," Jamine explained.
"That's at least good news for us. We could fight more freely knowing that we won't be infected with just a little wound from the zombies," Treyton said.
Most of them have abilities, so Treyton should be a bit relieved knowing that they won't be infected with just a bit of wound from the zombies when they're fighting.
"A-actually I wanted to ask how you guys know how you guys found out that you have abilities," Koen asked with obvious hesitation in his voice.
"The ability users with you guys didn't tell you?" Nathan asked in a puzzled tone.
"Well, we tried asking them, but no one was willing to tell us how they know they have powers," Koen said with dejection.
It seemed that those people actually also don't understand how their powers manifested, or someone instructed them not to tell others about it.
All the others looked at Treyton and him. Treyton also looked at him and he just nodded.
If it wasn't for him, Treyton and the others wouldn't have found their abilities very early, so he understood why they were all looking at him.
He doesn't mind others telling the method to others because it would eventually spread anyway, so he just nodded to tell them that it's okay for them to tell it to others.
It was just simple know-how anyway. It doesn't really matter if others were to find out about it.
It would even be better if a lot of people knew how to know if they had superpowers or not so that they could have a way to protect themselves.
It wouldn't have any effect on him at all if more people knew what their ability was, so he doesn't have any qualms about sharing such simple knowledge.
"It's actually very simple. Zam, teach them how to do it. If you guys still don't understand, you can ask the others about it," Treyton said.
The others were visibly very happy about it, so Treyton said, "Not everyone has abilities, so don't be too excited and be too disappointed later on."
Actually, there's more people who actually remained at the early stage of the apocalypse.
There were still a lot of chances for ordinary people to have abilities, but most of them would awaken later on.
At the stage they were in, there were more ordinary people compared to people with abilities.
It was already unbelievable that most of the people in Treyton's group have abilities.
So, others shouldn't expect that the chances of having a superpower were high. Treyton's group was certainly amazing, maybe because they were in the protagonists group.
After Wes taught them how to check if they have abilities, only 5 people said that they felt a new force in their body.
Even though there were only 5 people who said that they felt a new force in their body, Wes still let others try manifesting their abilities.
When they tried manifesting their abilities, another person successfully manifested his abilities aside from the other five, who said that they felt a new force in their body.
In Mark's team, there were 2 people who successfully manifested their abilities. They were Mark and Ted. Mark awakened as an earth ability user, and Ted awakened as a fire ability user.
On the food hall team, there were only four people who awakened their abilities. Jasmine awakened as a plant ability user; Koen was actually a water ability user; and the other two awakened as wind ability users.
Wes also told them how to practice their abilities and left them alone to practice on their own.
The people who awakened their abilities were obviously very happy about it. The others also congratulated them, but they were obviously sad that they don't have an ability of their own.
While the six people who had manifested their abilities were still excitedly practicing their abilities, Nina had already started serving their breakfast.
Nina, Nichole, and Yang were the people who mostly prepared their meals, and they were only responsible for the meals of their own group. So, their meals were still well prepared and delicious even with the lack of ingredients.
