Chapter 305: Luciel in action 4

While the cars were making their way toward the military center, Luciel continued dealing with the huge birds that were being attracted by the movement of the convoy.

Due to the chaos inside the base, a lot of debris and fleeing people were obstructing the roads, so even though the military center wasn't far, they were delayed along the way.

Still, despite the obstacles, the military center was close enough that they managed to reach it in a relatively short time.

When the soldiers at the military center saw the approaching vehicles—clearly marked as research center transport—they quickly made way and let the convoy pass, allowing them to enter safely without issue.

Luciel saw them successfully reach the military center and, satisfied that they were safe, turned his attention elsewhere.

Since there were still many huge birds attacking the military area, Luciel didn't immediately head to the hospital where Treyton and the others had gone. Instead, he decided to help clean up the giant birds attacking the area first.

There were quite a few of them, so it took him some time to clear them all out before he could leave.

By the time he finally reached the hospital, Treyton and some of the others were no longer there.

Luciel only saw Jacob and about half of the fifteen people who had originally gone out with Treyton.

He noticed Jacob's poison attacks were still proving to be highly effective against the mutant birds.

Jacob's combat ability hadn't really stood out before, since his poison hadn't worked well against zombies. But now, against the birds, it was a completely different story.

This time, it seemed like many of the poisons Jacob had developed were highly effective against the mutant birds attacking them.

Luciel could see signs of corrosion on many of the fallen birds around the hospital—clear evidence that Jacob's poisons had done the work.

Beside him, Conner and Mark were also handling the surrounding threats with precision. The same went for the rest of the team still stationed there.

Luciel could tell they were doing a great job defending the hospital. Since there weren't many large birds posing a serious threat, he didn't see the need to step in.

They had things under control.

With that, Luciel turned and headed to his next destination: the temporary housing zones—where people who couldn't yet afford to live in other parts of the base were currently staying.

The temporary housing zones in the North Base were actually much better than those in most other bases. The area was spacious, and the residents were provided with sturdy tents. Cleanliness and order were maintained well by base officers, so it was considered relatively safe.

Most people didn't stay in the temporary housing zones for too long either. As long as they worked hard and earned enough points, they could usually move into better accommodations within a month.

Some even managed it faster if they knew how to save properly.

But this time, the people in the temporary housing zones were incredibly unlucky. The sudden attack by the mutant birds caught everyone off guard.

The tents, unlike concrete houses, offered no real protection against swooping predators. They were vulnerable.

As Luciel approached the area using the same method he'd used before—jumping from bird to bird or building—he spotted Treyton and the other eight members of their group.

They were already in the middle of a fierce battle, efficiently using their abilities to protect the people living in the temporary housing zone and eliminate the birds attacking them.

Treyton was using his metal and lightning abilities to deal with a wide range of birds in the area.

His attacks were extremely lethal. As soon as he launched an attack, multiple birds would fall dead in its wake.

Unlike Luciel, who still needed to use a sword to finish off the birds, Treyton only had to rely on his abilities. As long as his lightning struck with enough force or his pointed metal projectiles hit a vital point, the birds would die instantly.

Although Treyton couldn't stay airborne or ride the birds like Luciel, he wasn't at much of a disadvantage. The range and coverage of his attacks were more than enough to handle the birds around him effectively.

It was the same with the other team members fighting alongside him.

Zam, for example, was using his ice abilities to great effect. He created sharp, pointed icicles and launched them at the flying birds. The ice was solid and sharp enough to penetrate their defenses, making his attacks deadly.

Others in the team worked closely with Myla when they weren't directly dealing with nearby threats. Myla, with her long-range gravity ability, pulled birds down from the sky, allowing the others to finish them off quickly with their own powers.

Their teamwork was smooth and efficient. Even though the area had been swarming with birds earlier, Luciel could now see that the number of mutant birds had already decreased significantly compared to before.

Still, the temporary housing zone had been a prime target. With its vulnerable setup, it was far too easy for the mutant birds to swoop down and attack the people there.

As Luciel moved closer, he could also see signs of heavy casualties scattered throughout the area.

Even though Treyton and the others had likely come straight to the temporary housing zone after clearing out the hospital, they hadn't been able to eliminate all the threats in time. The birds just kept coming—and in such overwhelming numbers, casualties were simply unavoidable.

Luciel continued dealing with the birds around him as he moved closer to where Treyton and the others were holding their ground.

When Treyton noticed him approaching, he called out, "Ciel, you still came out."

Luciel shrugged as he slashed another bird midair. "Yeah, I still had to come out—even though I didn't want to move at all."

Treyton shot a few bolts of lightning into a cluster of birds overhead, then glanced his way again. "How's the villa?"
