Transmigrated into a Villainess? I’m Going to conquer the Heroine!

Chapter 109 - Templated memories

“Welcome back to the stage, Hou YuanZhan, Tang Yuan, and Jin MengXuan! Welcome~”

The host stood to the side with a smile. “After much anticipation, our little finale surprise goes like this — the three of you were chosen by the audience. Now, take this chance to chat a little more with everyone!”

The production team had prepared a thousand custom gifts. Though not particularly valuable, they held great sentimental worth, distributed to online viewers through a random lottery.

During the ten-minute wait for the lottery results, the three contestants would interact with the audience.

When the seat numbers were randomly selected for audience interaction, the crowd’s reaction was enthusiastic.

A girl was chosen, and the moment her face appeared on the big screen, her cheeks flushed red with excitement.

When the staff handed her the microphone, she stood up, flustered and tongue-tied.

“H-Hi~ I can’t believe I got picked just like that…”

“Um, my mind’s completely blank right now. Give me a moment.”

Hou YuanZhan couldn’t help but chuckle. “No rush, miss. What year are you in?”

“Ah, I’m a sophomore.” The girl gradually found her composure. “Mr. Hou, could you please keep up your high-intensity work? You might get really tired, but your fans would be so happy.”

Hou YuanZhan’s face froze in shock. “Wow, that’s not exactly the way to start a conversation, is it?”

【Hahahahaha!!】

【Agreed!】

The girl replied earnestly, “I’m not your fan, but I’m sure everyone feels the same way.”

[Teacher Hou: Another arrow straight to my heart.]

“Actually, I do have a question.” The girl suddenly brightened up, gesturing animatedly. “I overheard your backstage chat on the big screen earlier. The gossip was cut off halfway — is it true that Tang Yuan and Jiang Zi dated in college?”

No interaction segment would be complete without that question.

However, Tang Yuan had been busy handing out gifts earlier and hadn’t caught the gossip. To her surprise, they’d been talking about her and Jiang Zi.

Still, she answered honestly, “No, we only confirmed our relationship two months ago. In college, we were just friends.”

The word friends made Tang Yuan feel a pang of guilt. Back then, she’d led the charge in ostracizing Jiang Zi, cutting off her opportunities and sabotaging her future — an undeniable fact.

Even though Jiang Zi had said Tang Yuan never owed her anything…

Didn’t she know better than anyone what the truth was?

The last time she’d joked on a show about chasing Jiang Zi in college, it was obvious she was just fooling around. Had the recent spike in followers led someone to dig up old clips and misinterpret the joke?

Jin MengXuan chimed in out of nowhere, “Friends?”

Tang Yuan turned around, startled. “Huh?”

Jin MengXuan quickly waved her hands. “Nothing, nothing. I just thought you two dated in college. Sorry, I brought it up in the lounge earlier.”

If it was something private, she’d ask Tang Yuan about it in private later. But… why did Tang Yuan act like she genuinely had no memory of dating Jiang Zi in college?

Could she have lost her memory?

In the audience, Jiang Zi’s gaze lingered on Jin MengXuan, a flicker of doubt in her eyes. She instinctively trusted that Jin MengXuan wouldn’t make things up.

There was a time she suspected Tang Yuan was like those mission-takers in transmigration novels — someone whose consciousness had occupied the character’s body.

But the way Tang Yuan interacted with her family was so natural, nothing like an outsider. If Tang Yuan was Tang Yuan… then what about the version of Tang Yuan in her memories?

The harsh words, the arrogance, the humiliation…

As the memories surfaced, a dull ache spread through Jiang Zi’s head.

The Tang Yuan in her mind was the perfect template of a thousand malicious supporting characters.

“Jiang Zi, are you okay?” A sharp-eyed girl nearby noticed her pale face and whispered.

Jiang Zi’s dark eyes were blank, her lips bloodless. One hand pressed against her forehead, her whole demeanor dazed.

Gradually, she regained her senses, shaking her head lightly. “I’m fine.”

Suppressing her racing heart, she forced herself to refocus on the stage.

Unexpectedly, her distracted wifey glanced her way. From this distance, Tang Yuan probably couldn’t see her odd expression.

Jiang Zi instinctively grabbed the water bottle on the table, unscrewed the cap, and took two sips. Color returned to her lips.

There was definitely something wrong with those templated memories. When would that idiotic system upgrading in Tang Yuan’s mind finally come back?

That was the real foreign entity — the only thing that might offer some useful information.

The ten-minute interaction ended, and the lottery results were announced. The host wrapped up with final remarks, marking the successful conclusion of the show’s final episode.

Everyone received commemorative gifts. Since it was only nine o’clock, many contestants had already booked red-eye flights to their next destination.

Tang Yuan and Jiang Zi returned to the hotel, saying goodbye to those dragging their luggage away.

Tang Yuan suggested, “It’s still early, sister. Let’s grab some late-night snacks and head back to Longcheng tomorrow.”

“Sure.” Jiang Zi pondered for a moment. “Invite your junior too.”

Tang Yuan blinked. “Who?”

“Jin MengXuan.”

“Her?” Tang Yuan narrowed her eyes, arms crossed, staring like she’d caught a cheating wife. “Why?”

Puffing out her cheeks, she snorted, “Do you like her? Is she prettier or am I prettier?”

Jiang Zi chuckled, pinching her puffed-up face. “That’s not what I meant.”

“Then why invite her? Isn’t our date better?”

“I have some questions for her. Now’s the perfect time — not convenient to arrange a meeting later.”

They were sitting on the lobby sofa when a girl pushing a suitcase passed by, smiling and exchanging pleasantries before leaving.

This wasn’t the place to talk.

Tang Yuan stood, pulling Jiang Zi up. “Let’s go, back to the room. What do you want to ask her?”

Before Jiang Zi could reply, a cheerful voice interrupted them.

“Hi, senior!” Jin MengXuan hurried over. “Do you have any plans? Are you catching a flight tonight, or…?”

Tang Yuan forced a smile. “No, no.”

“Then… what are you up to next?”

Jiang Zi’s expression remained neutral, her voice cool. “Late-night snacks. Want to join us?”

Jin MengXuan couldn’t tell if the invitation was genuine or a polite brush-off, glancing uncertainly at Tang Yuan.

Tang Yuan’s expression was equally strange, but she added, “Yeah, we’re going for snacks. Want to come?”

Her senior was always warm and friendly — this had to be a real invitation, right?

Jin MengXuan’s face lit up, her voice sweet. “Sure! Senior, you’re so kind. Are you treating me?”

“Sure.”
