Tower of God: Overpowered MC

Chapter 5: Chapter

"That was impressive, Regular..."

Shinso turned to the speaker. He had fair skin and short, spiky blond hair, with two round black tattoos under his golden-yellow eyes. He wore a dark, long-sleeved shirt with a high collar and a cream-colored tailcoat with puffy sleeves. On the lower half, he wore baggy black pants and black boots.

Although he had been called out, Shinso remained quiet. There was a reason he provoked them—and it wasn't just for fun. It was part of a plan to fulfill a quest.

[SIDE QUEST]

Adori Zahard is a weakling!

Task: Shake the entire Tower; kill a Ranker while still a Regular on the lowest floor.

Rewards: Unlock 2% of Urek Mazino's Template, Teleportation, Weapon Slot, and Perfect Disguise

Ignoring Lero Ro, Shinso jumped off the stage and walked toward Yeon Yihwa. Under everyone's gaze, he kowtowed in front of her like a loyal servant.

"Lady YEON Yihwa!" He shouted, loud enough for all to hear. I've completed the task you gave me—pretending to be an examiner to eliminate your competitor Regulars!

Yihwa blinked, taken aback by his sudden declaration. Hearing him call her Lady YEON Yihwa, putting heavy emphasis on her surname, sent shivers of joy up her spine.

"Oh really? Very good! Now—" she began, flattered and ready to claim him as her subordinate, but then her expression twisted. "Wait... task? What are you talking about?"

A chill ran down her spine. She felt that everyone was staring at her. The Yeon family was well-known and respected. And Shinso had just publicly declared her as the mastermind behind this farce conspiracy to climb the tower.

He was clearly slandering her in broad daylight. And she—unknowingly—just admitted to it.

Dozens of terrifying thoughts raced through her mind. If this rumor spreads, her family's name could be tarnished. The story might be exaggerated, but if the source was credible...

She pictured the head of the Yeon family hearing about how she commanded someone to impersonate an administrator to eliminate competitors. A clear violation of rules, her team could be disqualified due to this, and worst of all, A Yeon failed on the first floor despite their conspiracy.

That would be a joke.

As gasoline to the fire, Shinso provoked multiple Regulars and claimed her family was backing him. He was dragging the Yeon name through the mud, and she admitted it.

As a descendant of one of the Ten Great Families, she had always felt untouchable. But now... There was a real chance she could be disowned. And those Regulars who held grudges against her that restrained themselves in fear of family. If they'd come for revenge.

It could be... Slavery. Humiliation. Human trafficking.

She could already imagine the worst. Her scalp tingled at the thought. Subconsciously, she looked at Shinso—still kowtowing like a devoted follower, but a smirk was clearly painted on his cheek.

'Damn, bastard! He planned this. From the very beginning!? '

And he was enjoying every second of it. Her chest tightened. Her fists clenched.

"Y-YOU!!!"

"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!" she screamed. Flames exploded from her clenched fist. It's easier to incinerate him, but that was way, way out; she wanted to beat the crap out of him. "IF I'M GOING TO BE DISOWNED, I'LL DRAG YOU TO HELL WITH ME!!!"

She lunged at him with a flurry of wild punches, but Shinso, sensing the danger, dodged easily.

"DON'T DODGE, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!"

"Don't kid yourself. Who would stand still knowing they're about to be attacked? Are you an idiot? Haha!"

Shinso laughed. He could've dodged all her attacks without effort—and she knew that. But what made it worse was how he deliberately evaded at the last second. Just to mess with her. She keeps throwing hands, but no one landed; she can only resign.

"ARGH! SO ANNOYING!!!" she shouted. With no other outlet, she stomped the ground in frustration.

"IT'S OVER… MY LIFE IS OVER..." Her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the ground.

"Sob... Sob... Sob..."

"Ugh! He made her cry. What a scumbag!" A girl in the crowd muttered.

"Huh?" Shinso turned around, looking for the speaker, but couldn't tell who it was. "Who said that? You calling me a scumbag? Wanna die?"

"What's wrong with calling a scumbag a scumbag?"

"Can't believe you made a cute girl cry..."

"Definitely a scumbag..."

Shinso sighed. Whatever. But seeing Yihwa cry gave him an odd feeling. After a moment, he decided to comfort her—sort of.

"Lady Yihwa, I think you're misunderstanding something," he said. Yihwa paused, looking up at him with teary eyes.

"First off, no one's dumb enough to spread rumors slandering the Ten Great Families. Even if there's a fool, they could take care of them in an instant and wouldn't bother. Someone even spread a rumor about incest; it's not just a rumor, though."

A certain blue-haired kid's body jolts. On the other hand, Shinso held up one finger, which turned into two.

"Second, there's no rule against pretending to be an administrator to eliminate some Regulars. It might be questionable during the exam, but we're on break time right now. Besides, the exam hasn't been revealed yet, so disqualification for us for eliminating competitors? It's not against the rules. It's like killing your opponent before the match begins; only an idiot would consider that a violation."

Then, leaning closer, he raised a third finger and whispered in her ear words they could hear: "And lastly... if you get disowned, I'll marry you and give you ten to twenty fat kids... You don't have to worry about finances; I have billions."

Yihwa's face turned red—completely red. Her toes curled inside her shoes. Digging deeper on her shoes.

"Y-Y..." she tried to speak but couldn't find the right words. She clenched her fists, turned pale, and lightly punched his chest.

"Pervert! Quit saying embarrassing things!"

Too much for a pure maiden. Shinso chuckled inwardly. "Relax. I was just half joking; you're part of ten great families, while I'm just an ordinary boy. But if there's a chance, I would take it."

Leaving those words, He turned toward Lero Ro. "What I said was correct, right, Mister Administrator?"

Though he spoke politely, he was 98% certain he would succeed. The moment Lero Ro disqualified them, Shinso was ready to kill him—and everyone else, aside from the main cast and his teammates.

"Sigh... That's correct…" Lero Ro finally said, unknowingly saving his life and the regulars. "You don't have to worry. He won't be punished, and neither will your team." He had wanted to step in earlier, but Shinso hadn't given him the chance.

Yihwa let out a long sigh of relief.

But just as she relaxed, she met Shinso's gaze. He smirked. "See, I told you? Why make a fuss? Did that scare you? I can't believe a proud Yeon wouldn't know something so basic... What are you, an idiot? Haha!"

"…"

Her face turned red again. She covered it with her hands. She wanted to punch Shinso, but it was just too much.

She silently swore to herself: 'I swear, I'll kill you!!! '

"Alright, Regulars, gather around," Lero Ro called out. "As you know, my name is Lero Ro, your REAL administrator examiner." He gave Shinso a sideways glance. Shinso only sighed in return.

"Since things have been… sorted out..." Lero Ro extended his palm. A dense wave of Shinsu gathered there, then burst outward like a tsunami. Some regulars stumbled back.

As the force increased, several were flung off their feet entirely.

"Is this Shinsu?" Khun A.A. muttered.

"Why do I feel like I've experienced this before...?"

"Yes. The force I used to push you back was Shinsu," Lero Ro said. "In an instant, I created a barrier that repelled everyone. Just so you know, Shinsu exists throughout the Tower. It lets us breathe and provides moisture..."

As he explained, Shinso remained seated on the stage—unaffected. Not even slightly moved. No one was surprised. They knew he was strong and capable of using Shinsu.

Lero Ro continued, "Depending on how you use it, Shinsu can become a deadly force. It can increase your physical strength. I believe you've already seen that firsthand."

Everyone instinctively glanced at Shinso.

"So that was Shinsu... No wonder he's so strong."

"Those who can't adapt to Shinsu aren't qualified to climb the Tower. If you passed through the barrier, you pass. But if even one teammate fails, your team is disqualified."

"Hey, hey, doesn't this feel familiar?"

"Yeah, like the fake exam earlier…"

"But different."

Seeing their confusion, Lero Ro brought them back. "Now, everyone—please come to this side."

As he was about to walk over to Shinso, someone called out to him.

"Uh… Administrator?"

He turned. "What is it?"

"I… I don't really get it. But since I wasn't pushed… can I leave and come back to take the test again?" Baam asked, scratching the back of his head.

Lero Ro blinked. He expected Shinso to be unaffected—but not two people?

Still, he quickly recovered. "No need. You passed. Consider it luck... or a mistake on my part."

Baam sighed in relief and rushed forward.

Everyone was already in awe of Shinso. But Baam? They hadn't even noticed him. Yet he wasn't affected by Shinsu either.

"How strong will that kid become…?" Even Lero Ro felt a chill.

He sat beside Shinso. "What do you think of him?"

"Before I answer, I have something to tell you," Shinso said, shifting the mood.

"I'm an Irregular. Technically, I didn't open the door... the Tower dragged me in."

Lero Ro wasn't surprised. He had already suspected it. The way Shinso used Shinsu without a contract was unnatural.

"Don't worry. I'm not here to cause chaos. I've heard the stories about Irregulars. My goal is simple—climb the Tower and get out."

That relieved Lero Ro—until Shinso continued.

"But... I overheard Headon say he sent someone before me."

Lero Ro tensed.

"You watched the whole test, right? I barely arrived before the second phase began, which means..."

"The other Irregular... is still here," Lero Ro whispered.

"Exactly. But that's not all."

"What do you mean?"

"I tested everyone to find them. But so far, I haven't." (A lie—he knew who it was. He just enjoyed messing with Lero Ro.) "I suspected it was that naive kid, Baam. And I heard he's chasing someone, right? That's why he entered..."

Silence.

Lero Ro paled. "And the one he's chasing... could be an Irregular too." He quietly stood. "I'll talk to him. Thank you. I owe you a favor." He left to speak with Baam.

Shinso didn't think too much about this.

Guides exist to lead those lost in the Tower.

But if they can't see the end, they can only bring two outcomes: change… or destruction.

Shinso didn't care.

Compared to other worlds he'd seen, this Tower's "final boss" didn't seem that impressive. And so, he never took this Tower seriously.
